    Wexit will never happen because the First Nations will not allow it. Everyone knows that Wexit has its roots in far-right populism and racism. But the First Nations have contracts with the government of Canada and no referendum in Alberta can override those contracts.
    This land belongs to the First Nations, and there is no way any Canadian province not named Quebec will be able to separate.

So why are they giving out 20 billion still? 10 should go to the debt and 10 should go to the infrastructure, hospitals, vets, seniors, police, etc. Not to Quebec who has students coming out of University debt free. I just hate having the East dictate to us how to run our part of the country. Did I say I want to separate because of this election result? No, I believed this well before this election. I base it off the opinion that people back East who I know many of because I grew up there want to dictate to the West on how to run our affairs, yet have never been here or know nothing at all about it. Like the Bloc leader doing what he can to stifle Alberta's main industry. I grew up in Ontario and have lived in BC for over a decade, have you done both? GM closes we all hear about it out west, we have countless lumber and pulp mills close in BC none of the people I know back East know about that. Atlantic Canada is hurting, I wish them the best, Eastern Canada has tendency for bigger government and bigger taxes yet Western Canada goes for smaller government and smaller taxes and has better economic development. Seems like the East wants something different than us so let them have it.
      The tone I get from you is we can't leave because we should be scared and we can't leave the rest of Canada. We're not scared because we know the west would do better on their own. BC Alberta and Saskatchewan have all had much better growth than the rest of Canada over the last decade, look at how many people move from the East to the West, just like me. It's like a boyfriend telling his girlfriend no you can't go because you can't do better, but we know we can.
      The reason you keep saying Alberta to me like I'm from there is because you think I'm an Albertan. That's why I mentioned I'm from the Interior of BC it's much more like Alberta ideologically than Vancouver. Have you ever been out here even? If Atlantic Canada, Quebec or even Ontario wanted to seperate I'd wish them well, why should I have any right to tell people 4000-6000 km away they must be in country with me, everyone takes it so personal, and everyone wants to control someone else, not my idea of freedom.

When I moved out here I had a very different view point, I didn't realize how much of a nanny state Ontario was and how much more free it was out west and also paying less tax. This is the mindset I have, I don't think like an Albertan I think like a Libertarian, this just so happens to be the thought of many people east of Vancouver and west of Ontario. Bc and people in Vancouver are much more likely to want join Alberta than a distant Onatrio and I can say that from living here, most people don't like the center of the universe (GTA).
      Look at senators, Western Canada has 11 million people and 24 senators, NB, NS and PEI have 1.8 million people but 24 senators. Look at MPS too Alberta and BC are the most under represented provinces in Canada, Alberta being the worse of the two. For every person represented by a MP in NS Alberta has to have 1.42 people, NB and NFL LB 1.6 people to get the same, and 3.34 people for PEI. Our votes are literally worth less by large margins so you can see why people would think the game is slanted against them. I'd have no problem trying to remain as country but change will not happen without the majority and the majority are out east and do not care we believe, so either this talk will wake them up to it or we can leave, either is fine with me. I'm a much more proud Canadian than most and know a great deal about our history. I wouldnt like to see east and west become adversaries, I'd like them to continue to work together, but as I laid our political system is stacked against as us and that's by design look up the history. It's better to be separate and happy than together and angry. It would also be a great experiment, we favour small goverment the east favours large, let's take 50 years and see who does better, I'm confident it would be us. The government isn't the solution to our problems it's mostly the cause.

      @N CurtisJust to be clear, I live in northeastern British Columbia. Our economy up here is dependent on the oil and gas industry and my own job happens to be heavily reliant on it. If oil and gas were to just stop cold turkey, I would almost definitely be facing a layoff. So I am sympathetic to the people who are feeling a little anxious about their job. I am far less sympathetic to the people who are throwing a tantrum and want to separate from Canada over the idea of cutting back on our reliance on the industry (though I'm skeptical about Trudeau doing anything too radical; he's not exactly a superstar among environmentalists).
      But while my livelihood, at the moment, depends on the oil & gas industry, I also agree with the unanimous view among climate scientists that climate change is real and it's being caused by greenhouse gases that we have pumped into the atmosphere over the last couple centuries. I also agree that unchecked global warming would be disastrous for humanity in general. These are the facts, and I can't just ignore them. The conservative position on this matter has always been to pretend that we can just continue using oil and gas without consequence, and to me, that's just dumb.
      I do think Trudeau needs to take the West's concerns seriously; taking the oil and gas industry away from us without giving us something to replace it with would be devastating. Trudeau will need to invest heavily in the West if he wants to get anywhere with greening the economy and I will be as pissed off as anyone else here if he just waves his hands, says "no new pipelines" and calls it a day. But continuing to stay reliant on this industry is just not an option if you care about humanity in the long term.

    Nothing the federal government can do about it because the liberal government said it would honour the results of the last Québec referendum. Quebec will turn into a socialist failure like all of the countries that have tried it in the past. What's left of Canada will eventually declare bankruptcy under consecutive liberal governments that like to spend money like a drunken sailor. the populace won't realize what's happening because they will still believe "the budget will balance itself."

    Alberta wouldn't last 5 years on it's own, deep down they know this. Even if they were lucky enough to bring Saskatchewan with them because you know for a fact BC wouldn't want anything to do with this. You know BC that province with an actually diversified economy and an ocean. They are are also the most western province in country. More west than Wexit, a map would have shown you that Alberta. You want to leave don't let the door hit you on the way out. By the way good luck being land locked and finding a work force since you have just made working with BC harder and the Marinetimes will have a harder time flying over to you to fill your work force. :)

    • @mryellow864
      @mryellow864 4 роки тому +2

      RJ AB you do realize once you are independent all the deals Canada made on your behalf no longer matter right, good luck dealing with Trump genius. Not to mention you be entirely reliant on trade with Canada the one you want to give a finger to and the USA who is one of your main competitors. You will have to start a new currency which won’t be easy, new trade agreements, new everything, all of which cost money that you a province already in a debt you created will have to pay for. Not counting do you really think the First Nations bands and their land are going to join you crazies? If you leave they get their land back.
      If sending it to the gulf was that easy how come you aren’t doing it already? You really think Alberta has a more diverse economy than BC, you really know know nothing about us do you. We have fishing (that is ours), lumber, tourism, film, natural gas and a beer and wine industry. Much of those are far superior to yours . All you got is oil and maybe beef. Good luck being a player when the only one you have to work with can make both cheaper and faster than you. PS also say goodbye to the billions of dollars in subsidies Canadians including us in BC pay for to keep your fragile one trick pony economy floating. There is only so much you will cut out of your own education and health care system before your country will be screwed and become North Texas.

Then settling down with some girl they knocked up, or just decided to settle down before they killed themselves with booze and drugs...getting a big mortgage, more toys, yearly trips to Mexico and suddenly the oil boom stopped.
