as much of a legand John Farnham is. It gets rather annoying being called "Sadie the Cleaning Lady" and having grown up with that name can get fustrating. Having said that. I love this song.
I loved that in concerts he would get his band to do the start of cleaning lady .. everyone would cheer and the bam it he would change the song I think to pressure down ... everytime he does it ... priceless lol
One of the best Aussie pop songs of all time. Instant ear appeal, beautifully executed, suitably unsophisticated in presentation, and gets you hooked from the first 10 bars. John at the peak of his prodigious powers.
Suesmallville. I'm listening. Only been listening for about a year. But I play Farnsey videos every day, many times. Not just his performances but the documentaries, interviews, clips from his tv sitcom, stage shows,.... the lot. He's top of my favourite singers list. Just wish I could have seen him live. Feb'24. UK. E ❤

Believe me, you have not really experienced John's voice until you see him live in concert. He sent shivers down my spine, seriously, yes he is one of Australia's biggest singers and we have a lot more that have never got airplay overseas as well.
Agree 100% Sharon! And he seems to be getting better if anything. I was amazed at the huge effortless notes in 'Touch of Paradise' when he came to Auckland a few years ago - got my tickets for his next show in March 19. Love Farnsey.
You don't get to be the only artist local or foreign to achieve number one status on the Australian chart in five consecutive decades (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s) without being The Voice
In terms of sheer vocal range, control, warmth and the ability to sing any lyric flawlessly, I can think of only a few singers in John's league. The guy is incredible. As good as Freddie, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Marvin Gaye...et al
John Farnham never sang a rogue note nor sung out of key ever during his illustrious career, whether it be in the studio or live, he it every note perfectly, every time. Proud to be Australian when you have artists like these representing you country.
I was in Bunnings the other day, which is like a hardware store in NZ, and this song came on and I was singing and dancing while I was looking for a staple remover lol people were looking at me like I was strange but I didn’t care! This song evokes so much joy and a light happy mood. Love it!
You're not wrong there he's the only artist local or foreign to achieve number one status on the Australian chart in five consecutive decades 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and Naughties (2000-2010) there's a reason he's called "The Voice".
This was one of my dad’s favourite songs, played it at his funeral so he could enjoy it one last time. Rest In Peace dad and thank you Johnie for all the great memories you gave us together ❤
Growing up in the great 70's and 80's music era in Oz, I have to admit that I did not really take to JF at the time, but this is just brilliant, thank you also Human Nature, the harmonies are bliss.
Never got y they didnt do more songs together Johnny and human nature is a match made in heaven ... John's angelic voice and the always perfect harmonies from the boys heavens choir
Human nature guys especially Phil Burton are annoying sexually annoying and confused by each other love of the others Mike Toby Andrew thanks for your understanding my need for pranking hey Phil where our fart gas can,Kate swears you have received Justine's onto U matey
Love this song. Modern doo woop. Farnham brilliant as usual. Nice background vocals from human nature. They sing acapella beautifully, I've seen there wegas shows on you tube. There version of Smokey Robinson's song called ,baby baby is fantastic. And they performer it live in front of him. And he just loved it.
Probably Australia's greatest singing talent in the last 50 years - he should have tried the USA and Europe - a talent like this is just wasted on a tiny Market like Australia. I remember him as a 18 year old, just after he hit the headlines with "Sadie the Cleaning Lady" coming to my shoe stand at Victoria Market, asking if I stocked any Beatle Boots - sorry Jonny that I disappointed you then; and it a pity that you wound up a Big Fish in a Small Market when you could have been a Big Fish In a BIG Market. Anyway your singing is great and you are great.
+Josh Poznanski A bit late, but he did actually try hitting it overseas, but like so many it just came down to the luck of the draw. The rest of the world's loss for missing out on him.
Agreed Josh. Not just the past 50 years, but for all time. John was born in England and did a bit of work overseas - stared in Pippin and wowed an audience in the old country singing Help that I remember way back. They were astonished because they thought they'd uncovered a new world class talent. Human Nature are wonderful here as well.
He did do Europe... and crushed it ... but he didnt do the USA because b4 whispering jack ... Johnny nearly lost everything he was broke ... his manager morgaged hos house to get that album out and it worked out but he said it wasn't worth the gamble to go do a USA tour they last for years and he would never risk it all and put his family back in that position ever again.
You're not wrong there he's the only artist local or foreign to achieve number one status on the Australian chart in five consecutive decades 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and Naughties (2000-2010) there's a reason he's called "The Voice".

The name of the contestant on American idol was David achuleta who sang John Farnhams classic Hit You're the Voice...And yes I saw that too on UA-cam when one of the Judges commented on why he sang that song it made me wanna lash out at the judge for what he said about The song And about John
The song just didn’t really fit Archuleta’s style. I think that’s mainly what the criticism was about. David has a great voice though. He should cover some of Farnham’s ballads.
@@alexsmba nar man randy was like y would u sing a no name blah blah dosnt any one no who sings this ... Simon goes yes john farhman... randy Jackson was an ass about it ... then that kid actually records ur the voice after the show and amaricans are all he sings it better than the original but the kid is not singing the song at the right high notes like john for the whole song it's a joke
@Fiona Doran, as much as he tried, John didn't make it huge in the States, so, not knowing, I can understand why the judge would say that. Human Nature, otoh, has become our longest-running continuous "boy band" and of course, now sell out in Vegas. Still won't stop me from loving John. Have been to more of his concerts than I can recall. Love him.
I love listening and watching John Farnham but I come back to this clip to see the sadly departed Bruce Mansfield. He was and still remains an iconic Melbourne person.
Why John Farnham didn't become famous In the USA I will never understand why he's a damn true Legend and a true inspiration to my life Forever a John Farnham Fan 🤞🤞🤞❤
Who's still listening in 2024?
Most definitely every day - Johns voice gets me through the day every day ❤❤

Meee, about 26-27 years after I kept singing to it as an 8-9 yo at my grandparents house every time it came on the radio
What a wonderful group of musicians. Hope John can continue singing after his op. Xx
Wishing him all the best. A great performer and a really nice guy.

John Farnham is Australia's greatest singer and performer of all time in my view.
He is a sellout sadly 😢
