Fantastic, I’ve struggled with this for years and finally now understand, better late than never.
Fantastic. I hope it helps
I like this, I kind of stumbled into this discovery a couple of weeks ago. I've always been an early extending scooper that's never really hit "proper" golf shots. I started working on feeling like I hit the ball with my right shoulder. If the shoulder comes down and through and I side bend, then unless the hands lead through impact, it's Impossible to make clean compact. It's early days in my progress but it's i nteresting as i have done the circle drill a lot recently.
Great to hear! Good luck with your progress.
Explained really well, thank you for this vid!
Many thanks
Beautiful video!!!
That is kind. Thank you very much!
A problem I have been trying to correct for some time; presumably, if the chest is open, if only slightly, at contact, the hands will be ahead of the ball? Would driving the trail elbow across the body help? Grateful for your clear explanation.
Driving the trail elbow across the chest can be very helpful but like anything, it can be overdone. Mind that the downswing doesn’t get too narrow. I like to think about driving the elbow around a circle.
Excellent video. Do you offer some online instruction? I’m playing full time
Yes I do. Is that Scott? Have we spoken already?
Great lesson! I’m a lefty who plays righty. My strong side is right but I love the left forearm rotation through the ball. Do we do this with a driver too? Thank you!
Yes. Same move but the aim is to deliver the shift in line (no shaft lean). The forward ball position will help in that regard.
This is a great drill. Learning to rotate the lead arm while the trail arm stays relatively bent forces the body to react. Less thinking, Simple.
Yes, I love that feel in my swing. Good luck with it.
9:07 is the gold!
Would this apply with driver?
Yes, same release pattern with the driver although you may feel the head releasing more but we are not throwing the right arm.
Is this new type of swing suitable for a 74 year old or will it bugger up my back? Thanks
It depends on skill level but the safe option is the L-L release pattern if you are concerned.
Do some pros throw the club more? I feel like Patrick cantlay does and maybe Fred couples?
Definitely 👍.The release pattern is influenced by a lot of different factors and there are a lot of variations out there.
Golf is so challenging- Mike Adams says the right arm should straighten to release.
It will do through and beyond the ball. It’s bent at impact and straightening through impact. The main point of this video is not to prematurely straighten the arm to square the club
this is wrong for carious reasons. stop trying to swing like a pro. rotational swing is weak.
I make the point early in the video that the standard L-L pattern is the easiest pattern to learn if that is your thing. I also mention that I coach that to many of my students that pattern. It is all about context. However, I just don't think it is optimal for more advanced players.
And dr Noel you are so correct. This pattern is precisely why “dialing the ball back” is a hot debate. Excellent video Dr Noel
