While the million-dollar smart-city initiative is improving the streets and City-Centre marketplaces in Srinagar, the Sheikh colonies remain unaffected, exhibiting disorderly and disorganised buildings that resemble slum-like ghettos with inadequate sanitation and hygiene standards.
