This channel is making me such a sap. I find myself crying tears of joy and sadness at mankind's successes and follies, I find myself feeling despair for our past and hope for our future, but most of all, I find myself smiling with wonder and amazement at the enlightening knowledge of extraordinary people like Feynman and Sagan.
The ignorant will always outnumber the intellectuals, the important thing is to raise the base level of both. If the ignorant of the future are as intelligent as the intellectuals of the present, we're doing something right.

No, I'm guessing what he means by "we sense a stirring of a breeze" is that it is only the beginning, and if we take the chance, we can breeze and turn it into a guiding wind (ie. actually make change).
Carl Sagan gave me a gift when i was a gift it was a telescope...Man my dad and I still use it in HIS HONOR... WE MISS YOU CARL!! You are now venturing the stars now.
By acting your self. If you are intelligent and educated then you have a far greater ability to affect positive change than an ignorant individual. A single great person, like Sagan, can educate and move many. The trend throughout history has been an ever increasing in education, this is the answer.
@Thornleyfan4ever I'm 14 as well, and I've got to say, this has completely changed not only my perspective on my life, but my perspective on our species as a whole. I hope that everyone will embrace the opportunity to do what you would want to do. I only hope that everyone realizes what could be out there, and how petty many conflicts are sweeping the world. If our species could unite, imagine the possibilities.
Carl spoke with such clarity. We are in the climate crisis, and this is more pertinent, not less. How prescient. We need his focus to fight climate change.
You are a wonderful film maker. I have been granted to upload up to one hour at a time of video and I hope you will be granted that so you can do larger projects. We need more skeptic/humanistic voices on UA-cam. Cheers!
The music is odd and distorted (high frequencies), you should look into the quality. The rest of your videos have been quite good! Figured out with my ATH-M50s...
@clayton8m thank you,i will check that out,i just stumbled accross part 7 and went back and watched the whole thing, some of the best videos ive ever seen-period,this guy is a genious, cant wait for part 8!!
It is absolutely brilliant that humankind's collected wisdom is all on youtube. No more excuses for not learning stuff, as the best and brightest of our spiritual teachers, scientists, astronomers, intellectuals, and thinkers are posting all their present and past talks on youtube. One can fasttrack a university education by spending time with the greatest thinkers and artists of our time on youtube. It's amazing. I'd recommend Tedtalks/Lord Martin Rees: Is this the Final Century?
What Carl Sagan states about the human species becoming a danger to itself is also stated within 'Deep Truth', which I feel is a profound and inspiring book. In layman's terms, Braden speaks of how the tools of transformation are ultimately in our hands and that working as a community will be the method of restoring ourselves and everything we hold dear.
Thinking is an act - all that we see around us in this modern world is unfolded from human thought, the human psyche, in it's various branches and insular forms. Society is a movement, an expression of a collective psyche. We define it, and it defines us. How we act is how we think. The two are not separate or isolated.
"do you see? look at the slideshow, do you see?" ... that the size of the bubble was the size of the budget... but was that number absolute or percentage based is the real question
@ciaranoc I am deeply moved by all seven of the sagan-series videos....and I don't have a soul. But no worries, neither do you. The more I learn about the way the universe works, the more alive I become....and discarding the myth of the soul has been part of the process. ;)
we need more of this again! This is an inspiring series and the world is in more peril than ever!
Fuck yeah. loved the end especially
Once you were here as well. Good to see you mate : )
You were a part of my childhood I will never forget... a still more glorious dawn awaits. Not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise.
this series makes me cry..... but i cant stop watching it, because its true..... and so beautiful put together
"I'M SIGNIFICANT!!" screamed the sub-atomic particle of the grain of sand on the infinite beach.
So happy to find this in my inbox. I love these videos so much. They're like beautiful little meditations on things we all need to think about.

beautiful. thank you again for these videos and everything they stand for.

In 8 years not very much has changed.
I hope the next 8 can make the difference.
We're getting near the mark where things can be totally irreversible
@@elvis_mello ain't that the truth. *sigh*
series needs to be broadcast on tv

wow this was amazing! thank you phil!
I like how the country balls are in their place on the world map.
Happy Birthday Carl! the cosmos sure misses you, and Earth needs you now more than ever.
Incredible words, incredible footage!!!!! ......... As always!
Excellent as always. Perfectly chosen visuals to go with perfectly chosen words.
This is really gorgeous work. Truly.
The sentiments Sagan expresses here have more resonance now, given the UN's recent dire predictions. "Decades, or even years", indeed.
Wow, this was a great video. Gave me the chills - subscribed. Thanks Phil! :) (And the creator of this video)
That is a wonderful thought. It's absolutely invigorating.
I was just watching Hubble 3D again this weekend and i realized how incredible it would have been if Carl had narrated it.
No, I'm guessing what he means by "we sense a stirring of a breeze" is that it is only the beginning, and if we take the chance, we can breeze and turn it into a guiding wind (ie. actually make change).
just got chills from this...

This whole series has been deeply moving.
This gets me very emotional.

@TehNir That is the most concise, logical message I have seen regarding religion. Thank you.
Awesome
How damn epic can the epic of consciousness be?
I have goosebumps. And shivers down my neck. *shudders*

he gave such a powerful disposition of importance pronouncing the last sentence "we sense the stirring of a breeze..."
Lots of shot from 'Home', nice!
these shots are beautiful...
this is really soothing
Incredibly inspiring!
When the music started I was fully expecting to see the Top Gear intro
Love it. Glad you're making more. :)
I love these videos alot. And I mean a lot. You've done a fantastic job.
Carl spoke with such clarity. We are in the climate crisis, and this is more pertinent, not less. How prescient. We need his focus to fight climate change.
That infographic at 3:55 is very telling, especially when you consider GDP and Energy usage. The US must pull its own weight.
yeah this video deserves millions of views, no doubt.
"Sailors on the becalmed seas, we sense the stirring of a breeze". That's beautiful, what is it from?
amazing, keep up the good work
Love the last two lines.
great cinematography and quite interesting too!
amazing,incredible visuals and beautifully narrated,SUBBED!!
every time I hear Sagans voice I get chills
i dont know who this guy is but have to say he knows how to tell a story and make it interesting.
the sagan series should go on forever. evolving.

This man is the narrator of my dreams!
Sailors on a calm sea, we sense the stirring of a breeze.
Never before has our future looked so bright and so dark.
Our actions today determine which we will live in.
The music is odd and distorted (high frequencies), you should look into the quality. The rest of your videos have been quite good!
Figured out with my ATH-M50s...
I seriously feel like a pendulum song should start playing at any second in this video O.o
his voice is hypnotizing
@clayton8m thank you,i will check that out,i just stumbled accross part 7 and went back and watched the whole thing, some of the best videos ive ever seen-period,this guy is a genious, cant wait for part 8!!

I want more of these!
beautiful like hell :D

This video was amazing..
I guess you are right. We are too headstrong and prideful to make decisions as one.
Great video! It is a importent issue - keep up spreading this word
i love how almost every comment if from phil's playlist XD
This series should be mandatory to watch in school
perfect end to the playlist
Carl Sagan + Jonny Greenwood =
nice footage
This is a great representional video of earth for the aliens
this is awesome
If this series of short films doesn't move you, provoke you or inspire you, then you have no soul and are dead inside.
I dont really get the last image with the 'renewable energy budgets'
Are those nations implementing sustainability or ruining sustainability?
Are the renewable energy budgets represented as a percentage of national GDP or relative to each other?
"We sense the stirring of the breeze." No wonder I've felt so...odd lately
Amazing.
@JormatarPWN so you're aware that the videos on the sidebar are listed depending on the videos you watch? xD
someone get this guy a medal and a new microphone.
you should post more links about science like this one
did.... did i just get hypnotized?..

@mungabba it was, and it was called carl sagans cosmos
Anybody know what happened to part 2 and 8? Are they gone, or can I just not view them on my phone here?
I feel like this video is what I should watch in AP Enviromental science.
where are the subtitles?
How I can collaborate to translate the subtitles to spanish?
"do you see? look at the slideshow, do you see?"
... that the size of the bubble was the size of the budget... but was that number absolute or percentage based is the real question
I actually stood up and clapped as if I was a a violin performance and said bravo.
You should do a military vs. science/NASA budget at the end of your next video instead of a renewable energy budget.

music by jonny greenwood (also did There Will Be Blood music).
@darrenrose100 The music is Moon Trills by Jonny Greenwood, not Tehellet.
Woah! Why is Australia Pluto in that intro?
Carl Sagan deserves so much more then even the nation has to offer
i got chills from 0:00 to 4:18
I almost cried...
