Thanks! I recently had to buy a new set and plan to get serious about using this kitchen gem regularly--I love the idea of the peppercorns and garlic at the end!
This is brilliant, great explanations and demonstrating. Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge. Just a note, though, the ‘t’ is silent in pestle (all words are with this type of spelling). 😊
How often does this need to be seasoned? Also, asking for a friend, what if you washed for the first time with washing up liquid before watching videos like yours?!
I'd be concerned about other residue like whatever they used at the factory to produce the pieces. There could be dust other than stone etc. Especially if the mortar was made in China where they might not have the same regulations and QA. But this is my personal concern.
@@princeire7486 just because you never heard it doesnt mean anything. I also never heard anyone say ofcourse. Everyone ive ever heard say it says ofcause. Doesnt mean it correct. Same argument with nucular. Many people from some parts of america only ever heard the mispronouncation and never actually knew the word was nuclear. dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with saying it incorrectly! but it is still not the correct way to say it.

Thank you for sharing
thank you for a perfect video
After you season and start using, do you just wash with water even after using?
Yes I just rinse with water, I don't use soap. If I grind something particularly potent, I grind rice again to help neutralize the scent

Thank you
Should be noted that minute/instant rice should be used
Yes. Normal rice are too hard to work with. Very confusing. Thanks for the tip!
Well, that’s an issue. Maybe I can buy a small amount from the bulk barn. I think I will have to unlike the video.

What can use besides garlic for seasoning? I'm allergic
Cocaine
How to make it
But why? Won't this just happen naturally by using it? Is eating rock dust that big of a deal?

For the first use, some of the rock could break away in larger chunks. Seasoning first smooths out the surface and gets rid of any big pieces of rock.
Lol

Not sure I trust the advice of somebody who cannot even say the word pestle correctly. It is pronounced with a silent 'T'
aaah i see not speaking perfect english is key to being intelligent?
Also dialects and accents are a thing.
I have literally never heard anyone say the t silently in pestle.
