Just to help people out and for a guideline Subwoofers Play from 20hz to 60 hertz Midbass 60hz to 500hz Midrange 100hz to 5000hz Horns 1,000hz to 10,000hz Tweeter 4,000 to 20,000hz.
Quicker way to sum it up other than my detailed comment. The car audio Market does not correctly Market their speakers mid-range and woofer are used interchangeably incorrectly. I always refer people to Parts Express to get a accurate driver naming and the bandwidth they cover, whether you choose to buy from them as I do is up to them, but one thing is for sure this comment should be pinned
@Bobby Byrkett I have ran a LC2i pro and normal LC2i and I just used the down4sound bass knob and was fine. I dont know how much different the epicenter is but I believe the JP bass knob should work.
OK amp bass knob vs epicenter. Typically you only use epicenter on songs that lack bass. If using epicenter bass knob be careful turning up amp bass knob past 1/4 /turn. The amp knob will effect songs with bass. The epicenter adds bass to songs that don't have it. If you turn both up together you risk clipping the signal and killing your subs
JP I have 2 d3400s under the hood and 370 autotech alternator, big 3 upgrade,2 strands of sky high 2/0 from front to back power and grounds and a d680 at the back by the amp I had a Taramps md 5k with no voltage drop now I have the smart 5k on 2 Sundown v2 d4 12s with voltage dropping now..do you recommend 1 or 2 D4S LTOs 6.0 and what size inline fuses to use...thanks coming from Durant Ms💯🔊🔊
I have a xs power d3400 a js 320 alternator with my skv2 3500.1 wired to .5 will just one d4s Lto 6.0 be enough I have two evls but I’m upgrading to vxf
Unlike AGM batteries. Lithium is rated under a different discharge time. What I mean by this is a 6ah lithium means it can discharge 6 amps continuously for 1 hour. We're a 6ah agm battery can very from 10hr - 20hr discharge rating. Meaning it can discharge 6 amps continuously over 10 - 20 hrs. So always consider just because it can discharge a quicker does not mean it can do longer always consider capacity. This is why XS power offers a power version and Reserve version of their lithium batteries it is a balance you cannot have both no matter what anybody tries to tell you. At least not yet 😉
Lol I have the bass knob for my amp and then a knob for my alt voltage regulator in roughly the same spot and just having those two drives me nuts. I'll cut the bass when I'm trying to increase the voltage and vice versa.
How do you connect 1 bass knob with 2 amps when having Eqs, crossovers and epicenter ? Rn i have rca going from head unit to Eq to crossover to epicenter to amp and bass knob coming from the epic center. Thanks in advance
I have a 14 mercedes e350, it has a stock harmon kardon speaker system, im looking to have 3 way component speakers at the front , what brand would you point to?
I want to upgrade my stock battery on my 2020 5.7 ram 1500 for my stereo. The factory battery is group size H7. any recommendations. I'm running a 1500 and 600 rockford amps
Hi i have a Question can i use sound deadening like Kilmat,Dynamat or Polyfil inside speaker box for better sound/deeper bass? or is it best to just leave it empty?
Another very informative video but I have a question, i currently have a single 15 xv3, how big of an amp would you go on a single 15 xv3 and what would be to much power for it. Ball park area?
I would personally run at least a 3k maybe a 4k to have plenty of overhead. Being a single sub i hope its a dual 2 ohm so you can pull the 1 ohm rated power from your amp. Also the extra 2000 watts of power will pacify your needs due to box rise. Big 3 upgrade and supplemental battery.
@@olbakerman1672 appreciate it , I got it on a bc6k at half ohm but the amp gain is turned down so I don’t over power it. Big 4 , dual runs of 1/0 ofc and 40 ah ying long . Got it in a 4.45 cubed enclosure, also 320 amp alt
To the question number two, asking about 60-500hz you're not really looking for a mid-range you're actually in the market for a midwoofer. The car audio Market doesn't really advertise the frequency split very well typically the names are interchangeable regardless of their actual frequency response. Where you choose to purchase from is absolutely your choice. However I would suggest for you to go and take a look at Parts Express catalog where you can get an accurate breakdown of the different drivers they're naming the bandwidth they cover and how they play well with each other. For example, out of the thousands of speakers they offer under the full range category you will only see about a handful of 6.5in drivers. Because they Market the speakers correctly and of those drivers they are extremely well engineered and on the higher-cost end
Hey jp I have 4 sundown xv.3 8" subs (DVC 2 OHM 800 watts each) I want to run your jp43 for the subs, I also have 4 deafbonce 6.5's and 2 neo tweeters and plan on getting your jp234. Already have a big 3 and 4 guage ofc wire. 2000 Silverado 4.8L stock alt currently. What electrical upgrades would you recommend for this set up? Alt, 0 guage instead of 4 guage, battery etc. Thank you for the amazing products 🤙 currently run everything JL Audio subs amps you name it but plan on having everything switched to d4s to start the year off right 👍👍👍
Your bass knob is literally your amps gain in your hand. The epicenter is a restoration device. Do not use the epicenter with modern music. The epicenter was not intended to "rebass" whatever your listening to. On the other hand, if you would like to learn how to recone sub woofers... Epicenter knob to the right!!! 😁
Can anyone ask some useful questions besides just asking which product to use? It's like, how do you guys have all this top notch equipment, but don't have any idea how to use it?
The amp knob will always be the main bass knob unless you add a custom bass knob the micro epicenter knob is only used to control the epicenter
Just to help people out and for a guideline
Subwoofers Play from 20hz to 60 hertz
Midbass 60hz to 500hz

Tweeter 4,000 to 20,000hz.

Appreciate this, I’m definitely writing this down for future reference

I'm running an epicenter in dash on 1 of my cars. I use it as the only bass knob on my car. Works just fine that way.
This was a good one Jp. Very informative. Good to know about those mids too. Been looking for some in that range myself. Thanks. 😎👍👍
JP how do you feel about capacitors and supercaps. What would you do to increase a constant voltage?
OK amp bass knob vs epicenter. Typically you only use epicenter on songs that lack bass. If using epicenter bass knob be careful turning up amp bass knob past 1/4 /turn. The amp knob will effect songs with bass. The epicenter adds bass to songs that don't have it. If you turn both up together you risk clipping the signal and killing your subs
I plan on running a jp77 in my 04 mustang gt. Could I get away with the stock 105a alternator if I add 1 d4s LTO battery to the setup?

Any future plans for the work truck?
