Great video, very enjoyable. Making the most of the amazing new kitchen. Going to be interested to see some more Vanguard active funds which I think they are working on in the background! bringing to the UK market :)
Great stuff Tom. Production is amazing and content to match. Active vs passive is a great discussion, just because a product cost more doesn't mean it a bad idea. 👍
Brilliant video! I’m a real fan of investing in actively managed funds particularly the Baillie Gifford Funds. I don’t mind paying the additional fees when I’ve been so impressed with the returns. The majority of my portfolio is in actively managed funds and trusts. I liked the Aldi analogy a lot! 😂 thanks for sharing!
@@ThatFinanceShow yes, totally with you! I definitely feel like managed/ active funds get a bad rap but there are some brilliant ones out there. The Aldi analogy was spot on but I’ll have to be honest…I’m more of a Lidl shopper 😬
Goldeneye for the Win!!! I hope the narrative around net return starts becoming the dominant one, rather than "If you are an active investor you are stupid and smell bad". Beauts Kitchen & crisp whistle also mate!
You’re so very welcome, hope you got something out of it. It’s a good question, it’s really easy to look back with hindsight and say why didn’t we just choose the winner. The reality is people want to be more diversified across different geographies and take advantage of global markets.
@@ThatFinanceShow Hi, I've invested in the life strategy fund with 100% equity.. I've been losing money on it.. do you suggest switching to an active global investment fund?
I would have compared VG 100% vs VG Global All Cap Index (VAFTGAG). Infact using Trustnet to graph I did, not huge amounts in it considering the passive vs active story and the far greater 'UK' weight in LS 100. Any thoughts? Then compare to iBIT 😉
Agree with all of this. It's odd how we've been trained to look at fees first over performance. Do you think this is an unintended consequence from the FCAs message of "Past performance isn't indicative of future performance" etc? Or is it that in conjunction with some fantastic marketing by the big ETF providers?
Maybe, maybe. You know what’s funny, if you went down to the horse racing to place a bet, what’s the thing that dictates the odds? Form! Or in our world, past performance! Still, can’t be a guide to future performance as you know!
Another great video Tom, something to think about.. I invest into the LS80. You have the same issue as me, tweed flat cap on and instead of London hard man, it’s more chimney sweep from the 1700’s 😂
Really interesting video. Am in the process of transferring my personal pension to Vanguard. Was thinking of going for the LS 100 or 80/20 but maybe I should also combine it with an active fund as you suggest… ?
Nice one Tom. I didn't know that Wellington was the global balanced fund. I hear Josh from Heritage Wealth Planning talking about that a lot in his videos from the US. Are they the same/similar? What about Wellesley, is there a UK equivalent for that? It's a shame that the comparison only went back 5 years. Cheers pal!
Hi Christopher, good to hear from you. Hummm…not come across Josh - I’ll check it out and see. Yes, I’d have liked to look at data a bit further back but the Global Balanced fund only went back 5 years, let’s see what the next 5 hold. Thanks again for watching.
Hi Timothy! 👋🏻 interesting, I know lots of advisers that use them and I did for certain circumstances some years back on smaller amounts. They are solid funds.
Insightful video. However reinforces just how effective a S&P500 index fund/etf is especially with a 0.05/0.07% TER. John Bogle's Little Book of Commonsense Investing is a recommended read. 🤔
Please stop with the the irritating 'funnies'. While no one wants to listen to something so dry we wish we'd gone to that funeral but we're talking money and it makes you come across as a possible know nothing scam merchant. That having been said, when one listens to you being genuinely serious I learned a lot so thank you for that. Duly 'liked' and subscribed.
Hi Thomas. I tried to contact you on your mobile and office number but no luck... so not 100% sure if I have the correct up to date webpage of yours. Can you replay with correct web address please. Kind regards Leck

Hey thanks Toby. Yes, with the money I spent in there it’s a surprise I’m not sleeping on the floor 😂 thanks for watching

Thank you so much. I wanted to add some balance because all I see on UA-cam is passive is good, active is bad. Did the Aldi analogy make any sense? 😂

Hey Josh, thanks for watching mate. Net return is all that interests me and I like both.
Which one is this "Global Balanced" fund Sir you are talking about in this video? The VWRL?
Cheers...........
Thanks for making this video! Why not just invest only in the S&P 500 then?

No Vanguard app available in the UK?
Excellent video, really well explained! Keep up the great content!
Much appreciated!
ETFs vs index funds, what's best ?
Not much in it for me Zac, can do well with either
Nice advice Baht 'at
