Many musicians over the years take their fans for granted. Roy never did. He was asked once why he gives his all in every performance. His answer was simple; this may be the only show some of them ever pay to see so they deserve to see the best I have. Pity there aren't more like him. May he rest in peace.
My mom, dad and I met Roy Clark as Roy was getting out of an elevator in Nashville in the late 60s. Dad, was, such a, fan of his and I think dad got his autograph. Later we heard him play ad the grand old oprey! What a, talented man
Never been much of a country music fan. Nothing personal against anyone - we all have our personal tastes one way or another and I hope "your music" does for you what "my music" does for me. But every so often we get someone like Roy here...someone who is a true *musician* who transcends genre and even personal taste - someone whose dedication to his art and craft is so total and complete that it must be respected full stop. I don't care what your personal preferences are - you're as entitled to them as I am and the next person - but mad props where they are due. Roy Clark is a master of any stringed instrument, across multiple genres. I heard an interview with him not long before his passing. At that age, one might be forgiven for being dismissive of the style of the moment. Yet there he was, still wondering if there wasn't something he could learn from the music of the moment. Always learning; always open to new thing - a *true* musician. And, in my opinion, for what it's worth, an underappreciated one.
What an incredible talent he had. Rest in Peace, Roy. You were loved by millions. The people who hit the dislike button are nothing but useless trolls.
"I do this with mixed emotions. Because I am gonna show off". Then proceeds to let every player have as much time as he takes. What a great player and, even more importantly, a great guy. You can always tell the guys that are fun to play with. Look at the guys in the band. They are having a blast. What a great gig. Not a guy on that stage ever forgot playing with the master, Roy Clark.
He worked with his bandmates in much the same way that Charlie Daniels did. He understood that it wasn't just him on stage, that without them the music wasn't complete. Doin' what they love and lovin' what they do. One of the signs of a great musician is knowing you're great but also knowing there are others that are equally talented and letting them shine too!
what makes Roy's talent so fantastic is his ability to make his playing look so ridiculously easy when in fact it's very hard to do that well. RIP and belated thanks for giving us such a great time when you performed.
We lost a country icon when Roy Clark passed away. I hope I get to join him in heaven when my time comes and I can hear him play this again. I was just a kid watching him on Hee-Haw in the late 60's-early 70's.
Roy had to be one of the greatest guitar players of all time he was incredible in any type of music what talent......one of a kind that's for sure God rest his soul 🙏
R Clark great musican n entertainer loved him all the way. Such a fun loving happy go loving person. Very talented man with the string instrument family Wow magnificent rip Roy you are missed.

A musical genius! And an all around great guy, that was a real comedian! RIP. I read somewhere that someone called Stevie Ray Vaughan the greatest guitar player of all time, Stevie said no that is Roy Clark !!!
Roy was laying Brick for my Uncle Roy in New Mexico at a Water Plant, Roy Clark told my Uncle I got an offer to do a Gig in Vegas, My Uncle that was also a good Guitarist, Handed Clark his Pay Check and said GET YOUR FAT ASS in that Purple Cadillac He was pulling a Small Travel Trailer and go on to VEGAS you Got TALENT, Next time My Uncle Seen Clark He was on HE HAW.
After watching Roy on Black and White TV I made it a point to see him perform. This was before rock concerts and having any idea what a concert was. I saw him around the Summer of 1995. Treasure this artist.
I was fortunate enough to have met Mr. Clark at The Crosby celebrity golf tournament back in the 90s. He was as down to earth as he seemed on stage. He took time to stop and share a laugh with me and my family before teeing off. I’ve always had respect for him but that few moments he spent with us really showed that he didn’t put himself above everyone else and that just added even more respect for him. Rest In Peace Roy. You and Charlie can entertain the angels in heaven for ever.
YES I HAVE THE MAN WHO WROTE PLAYED IT MANY TIMES At OUR FAMILY, REUNIONS, AT OUR HOUSE, IN COVE CITY NC. Ervin t Rouse was born in Craven County NC. ROY did an awesome job. ERVIN, would play it behind his head, down behind his back, stop and talk in the middle of it and tell a story. Start back playing where he left off. Ervin was a SHOWMAN ALSO. My dad and Ervin 's cousin, Haywood Rouse and Ervin tripled played the Orange Blossum, It was a work of Magic. Then Ervin would play Sweeter than the Flowers and he have tears in his eyes.

Thank GOD and GREYHOUND and Roy thank you for all the musical memories ! May your music live on FOREVER !
What an incredible musician and warm, affable human being. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore. R.I.P., Mr. Clark; an American treasure whose music will continue to bring happiness to many for years and years to come.
My man Roy ,, the World needs more humans like this,,,, can I get an Amen In the late 60's Roy had a home in Davidsonville Maryland . At the time I was working at Arthur Owens gas station across from Lee airport in Edgewater Maryland , Roy Clark was friends with Arthur Owens so Roy would come in the station on occasion (the Hee Haw days) also Hank Thompson would visit Roy and we would see him...……. Damn im old
Awwww,,,,, Roy and Buck! It musta been great to see that show.... or any show of theirs for that matter but this when Roy’s getting old, made me so happy but very sad all mixed together. Awww...
Wow, I sure wish this whole appearance was on a video, I would like to see him playing his guitar as well. You could just tell he did not want to leave that stage, he loved to entertain people, RIP Roy, thank you sir for all the great memories and music!!
For all the comments on the sound quality...you know, we don't know the circumstances on that windy day. Roy was such a professional, he just put his whole heart and soul into it and left the rest to the audience. He didn't walk off in a huff, berate the sound tech, or alter his program (for all I know). He just played the heck out a that thing. Love you, Roy.
electric music is different. He couldn't even hear himself, over the satellite-radio jazz playing. they must have no heart to cut off a legend and play their generic BS
What an awesome young player. He's great and for those who don't like his exspressions remember he's just learning lol, they will get better along with his playing just imagine that. What a talent our God gave him, and he is obviously practicing a lot.
I remember watching Roy on TV back in the 60s, most memorably on Hee Haw. He was certainly a virtuoso on many instruments, and also crossing many genres of music. But I think the thing that stands out most memorably to me is how he really enjoyed playing music and sharing with his audience. It's a rare individual who has that much talent and be humble at the same time, but yet can impart his happiness through his abilities to his audience. RIP Roy … still have many of your albums in my meager collection and will continue to enjoy them until they lay me in the ground.
Well said. I was lucky to catch him as a kid, mainly from hee haw, but i was always deeply passionate about music and his face and styles (plural) really got me excited. I think he's why I love bluegrass and blues so much.
Roy's Entire Persona was Undeniable Charming with Plenty of Good Ole Boy Sass Toppings. Utmost Respect to One of the Greatest Musical Story Tellers of Our Lifetimes. RIP BadAss~Hokester! Your Legacy Lives On ~💝🙏🎶
People say that, but I personally don’t see it that way. He did it all and was so multi-talented and modest that he didn’t seek the fanfare and kudos, he truly loved what he did and loved to entertain. He did guest spots on all major television shows, played concerts and toured with his group, even guest hosted for Johnny Carson. His recording of “Yesterday when I was Young”, reached #1 in Canada and peaked in the top 10 in the USA, in the ‘easy listening’ category. He took on acting gigs and undoubtedly had comedic chops. He was so exceptionally well rounded in his talents that I think he of him as true genius. Just imagine if his only focus had been that of the acoustic guitar, he would have played Carnegie Hall and been packing concert halls everywhere.
The baseball field in the background...I wish my old man could have seen this.... the one that encouraged me to start playin....ohhhh good times....... GOOD TIMES
No one plays like Roy Clark ever
Many musicians over the years take their fans for granted. Roy never did. He was asked once why he gives his all in every performance. Elvis had the same attitude with his fans.🗽👍
Roy is a class act!

DiMaggio said the same thing.
Ole Roy could play them all... And be a comedian when doing so... Very intelligent man and professional country music.
