    The dress she ended up buying looked better than the dress that was made. But he surely did them dirty. If this was a wedding dress it would be a whole different story probably. Smh.

    I like that Judge Faith is always supportive of young people who are attempting to do well....she tells them right from wrong & upholds the law but she didn't tear down this young man as a tailor. Nicely handled!

      @#Teasipper# For a lot of people, it's just the principle. They also want to get all of the facts right since they're in court, not to mention the fact that he perjured himself and that shows the judge that he's dishonest to begin with. Character is important in court.

    • @CeltycSparrow
      @CeltycSparrow 5 років тому +57

      To be perfectly honest, the dress he presented to the court, I wouldn't pay $5 for if I found it in my local Goodwill. I can understand she wanted it to look like the $10,000 dress in the picture and she only gave $500 for it, so obviously its not going to look EXACTLY the same, but come on. No disrespect to him....from the pictures he showed, he CAN do beautiful work.....he just didn't give her what he promised. It was REALLY ugly and cheap looking.. I think he was overwhelmed. He was in school, it was prom season and he had too many dress orders and not enough time to fulfill them.

She gave him plenty of time to come up with the dress. And he was completely at fault. This young woman was stressed beyond believe because the defendant messed up. She went in months in advance to have this done.

    O.K, If I was the plaintiff, I WOULD NOT have waited a week or two before prom to get a custom made dress. If I wanted a custom made dress, get it two-three months prior to prom. As for the defendant, If you know that you can't get the dress done in time, then don't go for it!! The dress had potential, but it didn't come through. I do feel bad because she had to buy a dress a day of prom, that's added stress to an already stressful day and plus more money!!!!!

    I had my prom dress custom designed and I also had a backup dress just in case. I vetted the taylor thoroughly and I was at the shop everyday confirming the creation of the dress. I end up designing a few of my classmates prom dresses and designing a wedding dress. I chose the material and delegated a time frame for completion. I signed his contract and he signed 2 contracts that I provided for the discussion of the design and the final product which also included the receipt of purchase.

    My family and I usually order custom-made evening gowns for weddings because there are a lot of weddings where I'm from. We would attend anywhere from 5-20 weddings per year. So while ordering these dresses we would constantly keep in contact with the designers, sending messages back and forth with updates and pictures from the designer every week. Never order anything custom made without keeping in contact with the designer.

  • @CeltycSparrow

    I can understand that there is a HUGE difference between a dress that is $10,000 and a dress that is only $500. The $10,000 gown is going to be infinitely superior because the higher price tag allows for higher quality fabric, detail, etc. That being said, I don't think this guy had a clue what he was doing when he agreed to make this dress for the plaintiff's daughter. If you are making a dress from scratch, it takes time. You can't just throw it together in 5 seconds and expect it to be a perfect dress. There has to be fittings, there has to be adjustments and you certainly can't wait till a few days before the dress is meant to be worn....much less the NIGHT BEFORE the prom, and the dress is still in pieces and the girl hasn't even tried it on yet, and expect it to be a perfect reflection of what she wanted. And the fact that he considers himself a professional and yet there was no record of a final price for the dress and all he could do was make excuses that his machine was broken and other girls had already paid so they were the priority instead of the plaintiff whose dress was not finished and she had to sit there walking him through how to make her dress the night before her prom speaks volumes regarding his incompetence and lack of ability to fulfill his contract. I think the judge was right....he was in school, it was prom season and he had way too many dresses to make and he got overwhelmed....and the plaintiff's daughter paid the price for his incompetence.

    • @TheDeldiz
      @TheDeldiz 6 років тому +11

      Come to think of it, how could he work on those "priority" clients' orders if his machines weren't working?

    • @CeltycSparrow
      @CeltycSparrow 5 років тому +2

      @@TheDeldiz EXACTLY. I would bet $500 that the mothers of the other girls he was asked to make dresses for ALSO sued him because their daughters either didn't get a dress from him or their dress wasn't what they paid for. And how COULD the clients have "paid him in full" if the machines were broken and he says he can only quote them a price ONCE THE DRESS IS FINISHED?
