Remember, these are schoolchildren aged 10 to 18 years old.
What raw talent and what a thirst for life!!
Thanks to the Project Zulu team of UWE, led by Ben Knight, for bringing them to our attention and for giving them and their schools the opportunity to grow, blossom and develope themselves.

I have the sad duty to tell the viewers of this wonderful upload that Doug Watts passed away on September 2nd 2016 - not so long after he filmed this. His passing was sudden with very little distress. Ultimately he was overjoyed at the responses he was getting to this film and that together with the Project Zulu performances that he religiously went to watch every year made him very, very happy. He was a wonderful man, loved by many, adored by some. Simon Watts (Son).

Simon Watts WILD! Presentations How truly awful to loose your father. Please accept my belated condolences. It must have been heartbreaking. This was a good good man.

Had a friend who sang with this choir (her choir and their choir collaborated) and she said that as well as them being incredible performers, they're also such a friendly group and she learnt so much from them!

I lived in Johanesburg, South Africa for a year in the late 1960's and my father took me to see the Zulu Warriors doing the Lion Dance...they were the great lion hunting tribe and it was spectacular, I was maybe about ten at the time and I remember it being just as noisy and colorful as anything you could imagine and back then many of the dancers were still living tribally so the entire village would come as well. The smells. the beautiful costumes, it was something I will never forget and Africa has likely changed a whole lot since the late 60's but I would leave in a heartbeat if I could go again and tell anyone who can go DO NOT PASS UP THE CHANCE before it is all gone

We love you diaspora. We know most of you have Bantu roots. Zulu means "people of heaven". 'Tata Nzambi ya Ma-zulu' in Kikongo means " Our father in heaven." Notice Nzambi from Zambis in 1st Esdras 9:34.... Notice nations named after Nzambis...Zambi-a, Mo-zambi-que, Zimba-bwe and a river...River Zamb-ezi.... Capital of Cameroon is called Yaounde - Judah. Malawi is from the word Lewi - levites. Nehemiah 10:9 Azaniah is the original name of South Afrika notice T-anzania of East Afrika. Azaniah means 'Yah listens'. I leave you with this verse so u can be encouraged Zephaniah 3:10.... For beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my worshippers.......and Isaih 11:11-12.....Blessings.

@@natalieokioga7395 Azania people are also called Zwane as in God hears which is Johane/Juhane or Zuaun (Portuguese). Zulu is called Mbinguni in Kiswahili - Zulus call themselves ABenguni. Also Julu in Kiswahili and Zulu is the same thing. Asante sana Natalie. Thank you. People NEVER recognise that we come from the Kongo and Central Africa and ultimately Israel.

These are Zulu children brought over from South Africa by the University of Western England (Bristol) specifically to raise funds for their schools to provide extra facilities and educational opportunities. They have been coming over on more or less an annual basis for several years but won't be doing so in 2017. The next planned visit is in 2018. Historically they have been performing only in the west of England.

Technically we are the same. Most Zulu or blck tribes in South Africa made regular and sea contact with blacks in Australasia and the Pacific. That is why in countries like Madagascar and other islands the good relationship with half Chinese and half-black Asians called Indonesians is well-documented. We are one and were called Jukun or Djugun or Zunguni or Zeruni or KaMaseru or Zungeni or Ziyoni or Zion.
