Ex-mob boss reacts to Angelo Bronte's mob would be amazing.
Get him and a cowboy/historian together. That mini-storyline is all about old crime (rural riders) meeting the emerging, future way of crime (urban, suited goons). Would be interesting to see a clash of ideas/attitudes on both game and experts
@@metafication yeah, I think they showed very little about Angelo's Bronte mob. There is plenty of things to show over there. Also Mafia 3, which he never reviewed.

The Cosa Nostra in the U.S. - you're mostly correct. In Italy, or when talking about other mafia organizations like the Camorra and 'Ndrangheta...not so much, especially the former as the Camorra killed an estimated 200 children in Italy during the '90s. Edit: there seems to be some confusion, i was joking here. I just know we killed alot of them in the past
Unrelated but Idk what tribe my mom's dad is from but ngl we need more games like AC4. The sheer energy I felt playing that....
Video games are an under appreciated art that is becoming more and more recognised as a medium to tell a powerful story. He said he likes westerns, and as westerns go RDR2 has a great story.
RDR2 isn’t just a great western, it’s one of the greatest stories told in a game period. Along with arguably the best protagonist a game has ever seen in Arthur Morgan
I hate to bring this conversation to this particular game, because it was so well made and everything, but I think because players are actively involved that games can get away with fairly rudimentary stories and be considered narrative masterpieces without much effort. This _can_ happen with movies and I imagine literature too, after all, it has always mattered at least a little bit more how a story is told than what it contains.
The story seems pretty safe to me as far as Rockstar games goes. The characters play their expected roles and don't really deviate from them. It feels like they reinforce the same points over an over, just in this one game, but up to and including rehashing the ending from the first Red Dead Redemption.
I mentioned in the comments of a completely different video that the basic plot seems like it got a trial run in GTAIV's "Lost and Damned" DLC. Even though that almost seems _less_ safe to me because it has such a downer ending but they don't kill the protagonist at the end.
I don't know. It's obvious I'm in the minority by being disappointed, and normally I wouldn't care but I think my biggest pet peeve is Rockstar never lets a story unfold. I don't know how many hours it takes to finish RDR2, but It would've been more interesting to me to see Dutch perhaps go from charasmatic, ideological revolutionary to a volatile gangster in love with the smell of his own farts. As it stands getting a whiff of his own farts is pretty much what we can assume he's always been about despite some disputed words to the contrary. If anyone thinks "well it's clever they let players decide for themselves" imagine how much more clever it would be if you showed us the gang at the height of their loyalty to Dutch, and we were _still_ in a position to decide for ourselves.
Look at this way, in the first game Dutch suggests that Abbigail was a prostitute who slept with every member of the gang, even if the prequel retains the basic backstory of Abbigail's prostitution (I don't remember anything about it) they don't _really_ paint a picture of a gang were that scenario seems even remotely plausible. That's the kind of thing I mean when I say "safe"
Also the graphics does it justice for old timers like him. No way he could look at say play station 1 graphics and enjoy it the same from spectating. Playing it of course is different.
I don’t even know if rdr2 can be just considered as a western at this point
@@radicalman7304 the first and second parts of the story are western for sure. but once they move into the city the western theme is gone.
Met this guy in July . He’s a slight man, 5’7 probably 130lbs. But his eyes and aura are intimidating no doubt . He’s the real deal

Love his reactions. Gives me a perspective on how realistic and unrealistic is, during this time period.
He's not really a historian. But he is a smart guy who's lived quite a bit of life
how? hes not a historian lmao
@@futurestoryteller Was about to say that, he's smart but defo not a historian. Train robberies weren't as common as people think, over 50 years between the 1860's to the 1910's there were only about 1,000 or so recorded train robberies, and that's just in general, failed and successful robberies.
Check out his reactions to the mafia games. Much better assessment since he was actually in that life (instead of an outlaw cowboy 50+ years before he was born).
@@altair5240 I mean the population was much smaller back then so 1000 is still a big figure
I think it's cool to have an actual ex-capo of a real mob to validate everything in a mafia game. It's like sitting in a classroom and a special speaker comes in and you're just locked into his speech. I love the authenticity.
I'd be down to see Michael react to Mafia 3. Granted it's the least Mafia-like but it's more or less around his time as a mobster/captain at that point.
I would too, since he mentioned one of the main bosses in Mafia 3's New Orleans allegory.
Admittedly I don't know the overall plot of the game. But he said in his American Gangster video that he doesn't really distinguish mob guys based on race, and that in his opinion Frank Lucas was one of the greatest mobsters that ever lived. So if if it's mostly about the black protagonist I don't think he'd find fault there, not the way... some gamers have
@@futurestoryteller Mafia 3's issues weren't due to Lincoln Clay being black, he was a great protag with a compelling arc. It was the game's lackluster sandbox that dragged the game down. Watching a 'Mafia 3 Movie' youtube video of the main story is awesome.
@@Bateluer I've heard the criticisms you're talking about but Mafia is the game that fans tauted as "so realistic you have to actually fill up your gas tank" . I mean... have you played the opening of the first Mafia game from 2001? It made me want to blow the back of my skull out, and suddenly the hardcore fans of _this series_ have a problem with realist tedium.
I saw a lot of "This isn't a mafia game, the main guy is against the mafia in this game"
So I'm aware that there are people who criticize every game in good faith, I was referencing people who drag down games like this - transparently - in bad faith
@@futurestoryteller I've only played the remake/remaster for Mafia 1 and 2, normal release for Mafia 3. I didn't find them to be models of realism. I maintain what I said about M3 . . . it was the lackluster open world sandbox implementation, not Lincoln Clay that dragged it down. M3's main story, supporting cast, and multiple endings are all great. The after credit scene with John Donovan is legendary.
Shows that no matter the time period, the gang life is the same no matter what.
It's interesting. Humans act different but quite the same simultaneously no matter what time period. I'm sure we won't change much a hundred years from now.
At least with Dutch, he wouldn't have you killed if you just decided to leave. I mean, before he went off the deep end, of course, but as early as the Lemoyne exploits, anyone could come and go. Marston left for one or two years and was welcomed back with open arms.
@@ElPayasoMaloTwo years. Marston left for two years and Morgan complained that no one else would have been welcomed back like that after being gone so long.
0:07 the way it zooms in on Micha (satan himself) when he says that
My man was already making calculations to understand whether he and his people could take the Van Der Linde gang.
Gotta appreciate the way such a mind works.
Whether it is accurate or not. The acting and characters and setting is just top notch. Its really a good modern tribute to old western movies. If it somehow came out in the 60's it would be a hit for several reasons. Not just because of the alien high tech technology its run on.
Love the way the camera was on Micah when he said "somebody gave you up".
Yeah, what a twist that was too you know - I remember being like NOT MICAH he's such a good guy!
3:10 They were essentially tipped off
They raided a rival gang camp
And found plans to rob a train
And figured if their rivals wanted to rob it there must be something worth it
Let's just say killing Micah aka giving that sniveling, cowardly rat what he deserved as John in the post-game epilogue was so satisfying and it helped that I hated Micah's guts due to how he acted in the main story.
Van der Linde helped kill Micah too... in fact if he hadn't helped you you wouldn't have been able to kill him in the game...
@BradenOnYT no one hates Micah more than The actor lol! he even said so himself he was legit hurt playing out the scenes but knew he had to be the bad guy n be hated.

There actually were many rules of war in these times. One of the most commonly known was that bayonets cannot be triangle shaped because it made nearly unsalvageable wounds. Reason these laws and practices existed was because many of the lawmakers and politicians of the time partook in the war and saw or even were subjugated to the effects of it so they had first hand experience on "what was just too far".

Love is a far better motivator then fear. I would never betray someone I love out of fear, but I would certainly betray someone I hate out of fear, and since I usually hate the people I fear that would be a problem for the person I fear less.
Very wise words.
I really enjoyed this video thanks!
Like Hosea said, “every plan is a good one if executed properly”
8:40 i like that Michael likes Hosea's words of wisdom..
When you go into depth on what is better, to be loved or feared, I've always been told that it's better to be feared, however i've always been a firm believer that loyalty is the most important thing to have (to be loved). I would get ridiculed by my answer everytime by people around me, but in turn would see the same people have their lives flipped on their heads when someone close to them either stabbed them in the back or betrayed them because of monetary gain, attention, lust or fear as you put it. I might've lost a ton of people in my life due to being too naive, hoping people have a good heart by default, but in turn I've slowly regained a circle of people that not only are understanding and loyal, but also ready to have my back... which is shocking, but so refreshing to experience. I'm not of course fully there yet, but it's slowly becoming a reality.
I must remind everyone, during the events of RDR2 (Red Dead Redemption 2), the year was set in 1899, while the wild west ended in 1865. During the early 1900, we are beginning to see the construction of cities, federal law, and travel on a national scale. RDR2 represents the end of the gunslingers and outlaws, where the last few criminals and vigilantes are hunted down and either arrested or hung.
1) We know what "RDR2" is. No need to add "Red Dead Redemption 2" in parentheses.
2) You don't need to explain the plot of RDR2. We fucking know. In fact, what you just said is explained with text in the opening of the game.
Good point about being feared and loved. Arthur and John truly loved Dutch despite his faults and never betrayed him to the law unlike Micah. We can the same with Molly and even Strauss they never said anything
I wish I can experience RDR2 for the first time again, it's been 2 years... I hope I can quickly forgot everything about it and replay it..

I love that despite not being some big expert on the old west, historically speaking, he still applied his knowledge of his experiences with the mafia to how gangs used to function back then. The fact that everything he said was spot on blows my mind. It just shows how much old practices carry into the new. Even in a different time period, things could be the same. You could put the Van Der Linde gunslingers next to a bunch of Capone's lieutenants and they'd probably be similar in everything except for appearance.

Have him react to Papa Bronte
Always good to see you!
6:35 they’re in a city based on New Orleans, Louisiana. And if you know your mob history (which I’m assuming you do) the Italian mafia originally set up in New Orleans. In fact in 1891, so roughly 8 years before the game is set, Police Chief David Hennessy was shot and killed either by members of the Mantranga or Provenzano family which led to the New Orleans Lynching, the largest lynching in American history in which 11 Italian-Americans were killed
I would like to see him reacting to Angelo Bronte capture mission it would be nice
Yeah, they skipped over the part where they planned and raided his manor so it seemed like they just suddenly captured him.
With how much he talks about contingency plans I’d love to see his idea on the failed trolley robbery
“You don’t get punched in the face that many times and keep fighting back” that’s bullshit 😂😂
The guys Cornwall was talking to are actually the Pinkertons who were actually (and surprisingly still exist) a private agency of sorts and also were responsible for union busting and also hunting down Outlaws, they also assisted in protecting Lincoln during the days before the American civil war broke out.
7:48 I thought the same thing when I got to this scene. I mean we knew it wasn't going to ever happen at this point, but had we been in his position I think most of us wouldn't have tried that angle. Maybe if Dutch WASN'T there it might've seemed like a play, but you don't really want to try that when the boss is right in front of them.
when i got to when he said that, i was dying from second hand embarrassment. he really tried it
Lol they zoom in on Micah as the mob boss says somebody ratted on them. Fun detail
I was in a major 1% motorcycle club. I got out.
I hit a very low point in life. In this period I played red dead 2. The storyline spike to me. Great game
Former Mafia Boss and Informant. You forgot the last part
Did he snitch? It wouldn’t surprise me cuz it makes no sense how he got out alive😂
@@Yes-Man1337 hell yeah he snitched! He' admitted it. He's a fraud.
@@iceblue7118 🤣🤣🤣
@@iceblue7118 Bro’s literally Micah & tryna flex🤣
My brother is watching Yellowstone and yeah it's wild also this game is one of my favorite games
The first train- they got that from an enemy gang that was also planning on robbing it.
i worked at a mob resturante in newark nj called the vesuvios,he and his crew paid us a visit numerous times!hes awsome mobster, tiped very well, mind ya i was only 16 back then, but they took care of me!
This is gonna be good
“There’s no such thing as a FOOL-PROOF plan, because fools are so ingenious.”
Murphy’s Law.
i wonder where the fuck they get the people for these videos from
fr, that guy is an absolute noob. Shoots with a shotgun for long range and can't land shots on enemies 1 meter away from him.
I actually worked with some of his family in my early 20s. Wonderful folks.
love how he talks about plans.. my dad was military and we are a group of gamers and even in games we can plan things in. my dad always says this, all plans work tell the bullets start flying.
I love that you guys manage to find these people lol
I don't care how many people he flipped on, this guy should be doing this reaction from prison.
He DID go to prison. He carried out his sentence and is now free. Despite being in the mob, he was never personally linked to any murders or serious violent crimes, so he didn't get life in prison.
He served his sentence and is now free
crazy how this game takes place only 50 years before this man was born
And he was born the same year mafia 2 takes place
Thats what i would've did
He really is Michael De Santa in real life, he's even actually even named Michael
Have him react to mafia 1 definitive edition

They got information from a rival group (O’Driscolls) that there were bonds and money on that train
