Awesome skills I just finished MG Johnny Riddens 2.0 kit & the Nu Gundam Ver Ka I do some parts hand painted & some spray painted I'm into weathering effects I love how each build I get more inspired to be more clever & take a different approach.
You gotta work with what you are comfortable with... Sure airbrushing is a really efficient way of painting... at least paint millage-wise... however, it still takes work to change the paint, clean the cup, and ready-up the next paint you are gonna use... Unless you have multiple units. It also depends on what you will use it for. You could use cans for the priming and topcoat because it's faster that way and has big coverage. He did use the airbrush for most of the work like pre-shading and color painting.

if you airbrush a darker color on the edges you are preshading its done to give a color some slight contrast on the edges of things bringing out more detail

It's just a preference dude. In the past I have use primers on three different airbrushes and I've always gotten the same results. The airbrush would be severely clogged no matter what cleaning method I use or what needle-like kept rotating in between. So at the end of the day I just buy the can primers. Why because one I love supporting my local model shop In Burbank community. But most importantly they always give me a really nice discount at comes to me purchasing multiple cans of primer so yeah.

I really don't understand why people spray kits with top coat when it's all put together rather than as they build it, like I do... it just makes to sense to me.
