If you are going to cover an all-time classic song, you have to make it your own, and she just nails it... absolutely brilliant cover.
The thing about Jessie is that she is genuine and knows her instrument so well. She stays in her lane and let's the melody do its work without all the extra.
This is the best cover i've heard. Ever. She put such a great spin on such a soulful song without losing it's intensity. I love her.

She went really mainstream for a period but I don't know if it's the record label or her contract or her manager that seemed to decline her exposure. Other than I'm really glad she came back to my mental music library.

I love how she keeps the accent. Shes real, and grounded. I hate how producers and music makers have people drop the accents to appease the american audience. And this is coming from an american. Keep holding it down girl. Mad respect... and YOU DO...have soul.
No one makes them drop the accent for most people when they sing it just goes away
Some people's accent is very strong and it sticks with their music and it also depends how they sing as well
0311apache It's so hard to just "drop" an accent, and artists certainly aren't told to do so for American audiences..it just naturally isn't as obvious when singing :)
Elizabeth White yeah...I'll believe that when Iggy raps with her Australian accent. Or Adele with hers...or the late Amy Winehouse.

A lot of the time you can hear someones accent when they're singing, but it's not like they go through some kind of special voice training to sound more American when performing...artists perform in other countries and have album releases in other countries, do you think they train their voices to appeal to Japanese listeners too? It's a mix of autotune and the way accents sound when singing- especially English accents
