GT actually didn't do much worse than Dragonball Z. It received a lot of online hate, but all the data on viewership and ratings showed that it was getting similar results to Z before it ended. The decline in views actually started in the Buu saga in the US and in the Cell saga in Japan.
It’s never old to see Shenron and also I’ll still give Daima a chance when it comes out since it’s one of the last projects Toriyama worked on before he passed away
Pilaf also used the Dragon Balls to turn him, Mai, and Shu into kids again.

This has to do more with previous episodes but I think that the landscape shown in these first episodes of Dragonball might have an inspiration in a couple of album portraits of the group Asia, more than anything that of Alpha album. I'm not sure about this but it could be something that Akira Toriyama saw at the time (the mentioned album was released in 1983).
The dragonballs are the most beautiful here than in this whole series. Or..as Ocean dub Frieza would say, "having these balls makes me feel something that resembles joy I think. I want to caress them"

Glad you guys caught the significance of the full moon. When pilaf got the last dragonball, it transitioned into the full moon but you didnt catch it till later.
Mai saying something about short people was only in the English dub. She says something completely different in the Japanese version. Basically whenever you hear dialogue that sounds completely out of left field, just assume that it's Funimation taking creative liberties in order to Americanize the show. Pilaf says "it looks like they don't have any balls" (referring to dragon balls)
Mai points at the screen and say "perhaps its between that man's legs".
That's when Shu and Pilaf look back at Mai like she's weird. Then Pilaf says "you know I hate crude jokes".
Bulma and Vegeta really were a match made in heaven. Cause like her future husband, she flipped off her enemies without a second thought. Then, their own son did the same thing to a failed clone of Broly.
One of the reasons GT is memed is that a lot of western DB fans didn't even watch The original Dragon Ball, so they don't get the callbacks made. But also GT wasn't even that hated until much later after it's run.

It's cool to see the firsts in the original Dragonball. The Kamehameha, Shenron debut and the middle finger lol. I enjoyed GT. I didn't like Goku becoming a kid again. Part of why I loved Super Saiyan 4 besides the awesome fur and hair is Goku looks like his adult self or became the Goku I knew and loved for a moment. Kid Goku is great, I enjoy seeing him. Kicking ass or mistaking a TV as a window.

I would recommend you watch the SUB for Dragon Ball the dub is changing so much of the dialog to such a lower quality and changed so much of the characters it's like a completely different vibe
5:38 in the Manga & Japanese, Buruma thought Pilaf was going to…well…what Bedtime with Vejita is like. That’s why Pilaf is shocked. He calls Buruma sick and perverted for such thoughts.

GT did fine back in the day. It wasn't until Super came out that it became popular to hate it for no other reason than "canon". Although I do remember everyone trashing how Trunks turned out. I guess they expected him to be the same way as future Trunks who witnessed every atrocity known to man in his childhood. With that being said, everyone wanted AF to be a thing so bad after GT ended. It's a shame we never got it.

You know, the reasons I didn't like DragonBall GT are because the characters complicate their own existence for no reason (Especially the first few episodes), they made Pan obnoxious, and Super Saiyan 4 gets nerfed whenever the plot needs it. I'm a fan of OG Dragon Ball and DragonBall Z up to the Cell Saga. I tolerate the Majin Buu Saga, and I don't consider DragonBall Super or Heroes as canon. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way, but that is my honest opinion.
Edit: I thouroughly enjoyed DragonBall Super! I'm just saying that the events from Super either retcon the end of DBZ or they cannot be canon. Hopefully they find a way to fix any inconsistencies in the next installment of DragonBall Super! Believe it or not I'm still somewhat hopeful lol!

@@blackwidow7804 Well it retcons the ending of DragonBall Z because Bulma hadn't seen Goku in 10 years-and that's been completely changed by the end of DragonBall Super, also Pan's age will NOT coincide with Pan's age at the end of DBZ, and Yajirobe died in Trunks's timeline (they showed him dying in a cutscene during DragonBall Z). Those three facts alone are enough to prove DragonBall Super cannot be canon, but hey-they still got DragonBall Super part 2 coming. Perhaps they can still fix those inconsistencies somehow. Don't get me wrong-I really enjoyed DragonBall Super, and I cannot wait for part 2! I just can't see it as canon yet.
Edit: Bulma hadn't seen Goku in 5 years, not 10.

Yeah, there's a subset of fans that prefer the theme behind Dragon Ball but didn't care much for sci-fi theme in DBZ along with the power level/fighting stuff. And I think GT tried to pander to both audiences and wound-up appeasing no one because it didn't commit to one of these themes. That, and the story arcing was not as great in many people's eyes especially coming off of DBZ. Most of the complaints I hear about GT is because of the story and how they didn't do the characters justice along with the thematic issues. And a lot of people didn't like the super saiyan 4 and above design.

In my opinion, what made GT bad was the poor use of characters that we grew fond of in DB and DBZ such as Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, Goten, Uub and secondary characters such as Bulma, Master Roshi, Mr. Satan, etc.
I'd argue Dragon Ball as a whole suffers from that

20:15 GT was a step back for animation though. Choreography was almost nonexistent. Movement was stale. Close combat lasted few seconds and they always proceeded to just shoot beams. The only good fight that I can remember was at the beginning Goku vs Ledgic. It stood the test of time and it is still good.
My Dragon Ball DVDs, if you put the close captioning, it will tell what they are saying in Japanese into English. Mai's not talking about you never can trust a short person.

Please make your reaction video a bit more visible and clear ,ik you've blurred it due to copyright issues but atleast you can upload them a bit more clear like dbz series which you uploaded before.
I used to like GT back when I was a teenager, but over the years I just gradually lost taste for it. I'm not about to mindlessly bash that series, even though it's not my cup of tea though. I'm not a fan of that sort of trash talk, and thankfully I've outgrown the stage in my life when I would have engaged in such behavior. As far as GT critiques go, the one I've run across rather often is that the ideas were excellent, but the execution frankly left much to be desired. I haven't given it much thought, but I definitely get where people are coming from with that observation. I won't deny the badassery of Super Saiyan 4, but apart from that, as I said earlier I just don't really dig GT anymore.
Only good thing about GT is the baby Arc and super sayian 4, super 17 and Omega were mid, the other villains were lame the 1st 2 arcs put everyone to sleep and all the shadow dragons except nova, ice and omega were jokes
I think a DB style mix with Z has potential, GT just didn't write it well and the animation was awful for a lot of it. The ending always hits though.
English dubbed is more tamed believe it or not in japanese da dialogue is crazy...im pretty sure the "treatment" is phrased differmtly im japanese

there are some good videos why gt sucked. the stupid robot was one of the big issues there were a couple story elements that were out of place/doesnt make sense
I personally didn't like GT because they took everyones progress and reset it, and it felt like DBZ didn't matter. Idk i feel the story could have been better.
GT was bad for the most part because of its boring execution not ideas. its sense of adventure was done in a very boring way and thats no surprise since toriyama wasn't involved, Daima on the other hand does has his involvement
Gt was not it because they made pan the main character. She was annoying and whiny instead of tough like her mom. The worst version of trunks. Goten essientially was useless. Vegeta took a backseat and Goku as a kid again was just odd. Plus the whole black star dragonball idea was so out of left field and made zero sense.

It's a shame they had to change so much dialogue in the English dub to make it suitable for kids, because the majority of weird stuff that goes on in Dragon Ball is way more perverted in the Japanese dub.
That's why a lot of the obscure humour makes no sense.
GT actually wasn’t Akira Toriyama’s work. It was Toei Animations. There was no manga for it. Akira only designed some characters for it.
