    In my mind this is the perfect end song for a Fall of Gondolin movie! Truly amazing! But then again I hope there never is a Fall of Gondolin movie made, that way hollywood won't butcher it

    This is crazy, I'm listening to a random playlist while reading the Silmarillion and this video started exactly when I got to the sentence of the excerpt the voice was reading 😭😭

    This is so good I want to play it over and over, but it would lose its specialness that way. The Silmarillion quotes, and Maeglin and Idril's singing battle, especially give me chills.

    Best thing I have seen in a while. I really needed this. Idril is truly one of my favorite characters from the silmarillion.

    Wow this is stunning! I am definitely subscribing. You all do a fantastic job humanizing Maeglin here. I feel bad for both him and Idril, honestly. Maeglin deserved better than Eol as a dad and Idril deserved to love Tuor and raise Earendil in peace!

      Also HOW DID EOL SNEAK IN A FUCKING JAVELIN WITHOUT THE GUARDS NOTICING IF AREDHEL HAD LIVED MAEGLIN MIGHT HAVE HAD A CHANCE BECAUSE SHE UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE WENT THROUGH BECAUSE SHE WAS THERE

      @@NiennaFan1 I'd never thought of this before. If it was snuck in, maybe the javelin was hidden in his cloak, like in a pocket or fold. Akin to General Grievous, if you'll excuse a Star Wars reference, and where he pockets lightsabers.

    This is so amazing, that's what I always imagined elves sound like. I imagine you'd be able to do Luthien's song justice as well

    ok i'm back to say I genuinely feel like I'm listening to a Silmarillion / Gondolin musical whenever I hear your songs -- they're absolutely stunning (I listen to Aredhel's lament like, daily) and this one I've been repeating over and over
    you're incredibly talented!! thank you for sharing your hard work with us, it's amazing

    This is magnificent! I don't even have words... The part where their voices overlapped sounded like a song battle, like Finrod and Sauron. The readings from the Doom of Mandos... Gorgeous. I need to listen to the rest of your music now. It's so cool that you're making this! Silm vids are rare but I adore them.

    You can fight it - you just don't know how because none of you understand the psychology of trauma the way we do in the modern age having studied stuff and you were alone and had no one wiser to call on for help! None of you understand, and I doubt any of you know how to really listen either! (That goes for the Valar doubly.) All of this was preventable! Feanor was preventable, Turin was preventable, Maeglin was preventable, all of it!
    But the worst part is that we're still making these same mistakes, and real world evil is preventable, too.

    • @husky0098
      @husky0098 Рік тому +1

      This comment oozes with hindsight bias. Any tragedy is preventable if you know everything about it and have read exactly how it plays out, but in the present, things don't work that way. People can only make their best judgement in the now, with what information they have, and sometimes that will not be enough. So yes, technically every bad thing is preventable, but some bad things will still happen. Such is life.

    • @NiennaFan1
      @NiennaFan1 Рік тому

      Yeah, that's what I'm saying! None of them had the right information, and none of them understood what Maeglin was really going through and there were no psychologists around! And yes, bad things happen and hindsight is 20/20, but especially in real life, we know a lot of things that will help prevent tragedy - we know that, say, having enough food to eat increases the likelihood that you will do well in school which decreases the likelihood that you will be poor as an adult, or that having strong support systems decreases the likelihood that you will hurt yourself or others due to emotional distress. Sure, individuals might fail to help themselves or other people around them, but as a society we have a lot of knowledge and we can do a hell of a lot better.@@husky0098
