  • Today i'm taking a look at the MWC Steel MR556 Bolt and seeing if its any good.
    I picked this up from JK Army in HK at the cost of about £110 with shipping and it took about 2 weeks to arrive in the UK. Having recently checked MWC's website the moveable cocking point seems to have been replaced with the more standard cocking point so I hope this is the case for anyone looking to pick up one of these in the future.

    Hi Ollie, thanks for choosing our products and making this review video. We’d like to understand and address some issues that you have mentioned in the video 🙂
    Regarding the wearing off at the bolt catch area, may I ask what bolt stop plate you used in this video? What’s its material?
    Next, our steel bolt carrier is purposely made lighter than the stock one by 11.5g, which helps with a smoother and faster operation. I’d like to note that the material of the Marui stock bolt is rather mixed, so it’s quite heavy.
    Then the movable cocking point, which we call it “Zero-resistance cube” (零阻力滑塊), is designed to smoothen the operation. When a bolt is moving horizontally, this little cube stays inward hence no resistant objects in its way, and then it pops out when a bolt returns to its normal position. And this cube is made of steel that prevents severe dents caused by the default upper hammer. After a long time of use, if it wears out, you can simply change the zero-resistance cube instead of the whole bolt frame.
    We appreciate your opinion about the missing instructions. We are improving the end-user-friendly experience and will soon make instruction videos for our products. BTW, we do have a whole bolt carrier group version tho :)

    Thank you Ollie for sharing this. I don't even know that bulges exist and have such an important role in keeping the bolt in place. I had a G&P bolt installed in my MWS and fired over 3000 rounds, still never have feeding issues, but after watching this video I will certainly pay more attention to the wear that appears on my bolt.

    • @OllieTalksAirsoft

      if its worn you may want to try replacing your nozzle guide on the top of the bolt too, they wear down and cause the bolt carrier to ride higher in the upper receiver.

    Great video as always. From what I understand the HAO BCG sticker was designed to fix issues people were having with the HAO upper receivers.
    Supposedly the groove doesn’t taper on HAO kits whereas it does on a standard TM.
    Even with the sticker I had to replace the nozzle guide in my HAO kit after around 10 months

      HAO kits are beautiful, id love to get one of their 416's
      on their website it just says it helps with misfeeds and they don't specify if this was for their uppers or not but it does seem to be helping on the stock MWS and its not slowing the system down at at.

    Steel density is actually comparable to zinc, 7,8g/cm3 vs 7,2g/cm3. And as I remember, zinc alloys used in replicas oscillate around 5-6g/cm3. Because of better mechanical properties of steel, you can make elements with thinner walls and effectively lighter.

    Hi Ollie. I am new in airsoft and own a tm mk18 gbbr. As i absorb the kowledge of the topics there is one thing i would ask a pro. There are many parts in this type of machine wich is getting replaced by the users. The new parts are stronger, harder, made out of steel instead of lighter metalalloys or even plastic. As a machineingenieur, i would say this could be a problem. Because if i change a little moving part to a reinforced steel one, because its wears off, maybe it will last forewer howewer the wear is now on the other side of the contact, on the bigger expensiver parts. Like you change now the bolt to steel but maybe the upper reciver will wear off? Just asking in general, is this not a problem? I hope you answer and i like your chanel😊

    Hey Ollie! Watching your videos inspired me to purchase an MWS recently, and it has not dissapointed in the slightest. While unrelated to the video, I was hoping to ask you about a current issuewith my MWS and if anyone knew the fix it would be you. Currently the gun does not function in full auto. While it shoots fine all the bb become jammed and will sort of shotgun out all the bbs that were stuck. The only 2 parts my friend and I thought it could be were the nozzle return spring which is a 300%, or the hopup (maple leave 60 autobot) being too tight. .Parts i have installed were the dytac arm. ML hop + barrel. and 300% nozzle spring. Love the videos as always, and would ddefinitely like to hear what you think about my full auto issue.

    I’m afraid you were unlucky bought their old gen product… they upgraded new gen steel/aluminium mws bolt, and the new steel bolt is lighter than the original Marui mws bolt. They do have bolt weight data in fact, and they upgraded new coating finish and materials, so that the bolt should be much robust and solid than the old one I guess.

      @@OllieTalksAirsoft that’s why modifying or upgrading a marui mws gbbr is kind of annoying. Once you change up few things, you have to spend lots of time on tuning just in order to get it functional. I would say the stock mws gbbr is the most long-life one compared to other aftermarket parts. Yes, a full aftermarket parts built mws gbbr is way better than the original in shooting performance and recoil experience, but due to all the slightly different spec, they may often cause issues. It is what it is, once you want to modify your mws, you have to prepare shit things would happen. Hope you can get it done and enjoy the play.

    Hi Ollie
    I also have the HAO G bolt
    I've been struggling with this bolt for the better part of a year, I have asked everywhere to no avail, I'm hoping you could shed some light
    Basically, bolt lock with the G bolt will not work in a stock MTR, after locking it back manually, it requires the fart of a butterfly for the bolt to fly forward
    I have tried the usual methods, unscrew buffer tube, a heavier bolt rear weight, a lighter zet plate, it just won't lock properly.
    The worst part about this is that the G bolt functions perfectly in a standard MWS

    • @OllieTalksAirsoft
      @OllieTalksAirsoft  2 роки тому

      ive been having bolt lock issues with my G bolt even in my MWS, all of them in fact, really annoying, I think the steel pin sticking out isn't the best method, the standard TM way was the best, that's what others have replicated like Iron Airsoft and it works fine. there's a few weird things about the HAO bolt that I just don't get yet.

    Hi there. Had my first failure of my TM mws this weekend after using it for about a year. To be fair it was actually a part of the angry gun bolt I was running. The nozzle guide that holds the nozzle in snapped in half,nice clean break. Anyway as I needed the npas I have now fitted the TM part to the angry gun bolt. But I will need some spares. In your opinion what would be the best combo of bolt ,nozzle etc for longevity?
    Best place to get them from?
    I watched your vid on using them as a dmr and I must say it's been really good while testing down the range. Hitting a A4 size piece of metal at 60m 60 to 70% of the time with .40bbs hitting man attack targets at 75 m again with no wind 80% of the time. I have spent a lot of time shimming everything so there's no play anywhere,like I do on real steel stuff.
    I was also thinking from an aircraft engineers point of view if that bolt is proper steel you could weld a lug on the bottom and get rid of the spring and rocker.
    Perhaps TM didn't make the bolt as wide as that steel one as they presume people may not clean them would allow space for dirt and grime to not fowl the bolt? Sort of like groves in some weapons to clear grime and carbon fowling? Just a thought. Be interesting to have a chat with you as you are clearly well versed in the art of the mws😂.
    Keep up the vids👍

    Is there any noticeable wear in the actual upper receiver? I've always been curious how steel bolt carriers interact with the zinc alloy receivers of pretty much every GBBR.

    • @OllieTalksAirsoft
      @OllieTalksAirsoft  2 роки тому

      not really to be honest its the "gas key" or more correctly the "nozzle guide" on top of the bolt that makes the biggest difference and means the bolt doesn't make contact all the time with the upper.

    • @Taseden
      @Taseden 2 роки тому

      @@OllieTalksAirsoft Got it. That's what I was thinking too. WE puts a roller on the gas key for this reason I would suspect. So in every gas gun the bolt rides along the underside of the charging handle. It is kind of ingenious, the main wear part could be the charging handle/bolt, both which are easily replaceable.

    Hey Ollie. Just a quick question. Do you have any problems while running high pressure gases in your mws? I bought some nimrod red gas to try it out and it seems like the gas is running out very quick. Kinda getting it on the green gas as well. Only is happening recently I think. Also when I put the higher pressure gas into my mags they leak. I’m thinking it’s because of the higher pressure and the seals can’t take it but not sure.
    I’m built a kinda new bolt set up with the Guns Modify nozzle and the original Marui bolt and the angry gun high speed buffer and I can just barely get a mag out of a fill of gas.
    What do you think I should do or try?

    • @OllieTalksAirsoft
      @OllieTalksAirsoft  Рік тому

      Hey buddy, I've been loving your videos!!
      So usually high pressure gas isn't a problem in the MWS mags, not that I've found anyway but make sure you're using green gas with some silicone in it for a little while if you haven't already. And maybe give the tops and bottoms of your mags a quick squirt of silicone spray and leave them for a bit so it soaks in.
      With regards to red/black gas they do run out faster, guarder black was the worst for it, it felt like you got about 10 mags worth for 1 can of gas. Personally I'd stick to green gas. Also with the weather getting colder you will use more gas with each trigger pull and when it gets really cold it is noticeably different. Best to armpit a mag or two before the game starts. And also if you've done the green gas mod then those mags will suck up gas for days!
      I think the problem is more likely to be in the nozzle, you didn't say but Im guessing from the performance you're using an adjustable nozzle? In which case if you can, switch back to the OG TM setup and I bet it starts working normally again. I don't think the buffer would really make much of a difference as it's the high speed one but that's an easy one to check if you still have the original buffer to test.
      Let me know how you get on 👍

    • @AirsoftLefty
      @AirsoftLefty Рік тому

      @@OllieTalksAirsoft Thanks for watching them Ollie! Appreciate it.
      I'll try to spray of silicone in them and see with the tm mags. I do have one Guns Modify mag and the red gas just leaks out of the bottom. Im guessing they are mad for higher pressure gases but i could be wrong.
      I haven't done the green gas mod but i do tilt my mags to let more gas into the mag. Thats what i also have done.
      While i was testing it surprisingly i was using the guns modify nozzle and i was having this issue. I do use an adjustable nozzle by angry gun because that is the only one i know of but they are terrible quality.
      I moved up to the guns modify one because i split my original tm nozzle months ago so i have been using the angry gun adjustable nozzle but since they are bad quality i wanna move away from them. I mean i did have to make the guns modify nozzle from stretch and maybe i didn't install the rocket value properly or something.

    • @OllieTalksAirsoft
      @OllieTalksAirsoft  Рік тому

      that is possible, sometimes the best thing is just to take it apart and re-assemble, I can't tell you how many times that's fixed something for me and ive got no idea what I did that fixed it but if it works again who cares.
      so in all fairness the GM nozzle itself is pretty good actually but the AG valve is as you say, basically shit. I reckon using the original rocket valve as a straight swap will quickly tell you if its the AG rocket valve or something else, either way its a good starting pointing luckily the bolt is a quick disassembly so it'll only take 10 mins to find out. let me know how you get on pls 😊

    • @AirsoftLefty
      @AirsoftLefty Рік тому

      @@OllieTalksAirsoft Yea the MWS Syetem can be strange like that Ollie! I have tired to switch the rocket value but it would fit. It is different dimensions. See the only reason why i use the AG nozzle is because the option to choose the fps because in Ireland the fps limit is 328 and the GM Nozzle shoots 335-350 with green gas in .2g bb. i use .28/ .3g bbs
      I used the MWS for a Mini milsim there today and it just stopped working all of a sudden. Super inconsistance for range and accuracy and then the gun just stopped cycling after a while of use. Not sure at all what the issue is about it now but i'm gunna open it during the week and have a proper look at it. So annoying man.

      Well using a metal nozzle will help on the inside of the bolt, as for the rest of the rifle I think it'll cause a bit more damage to the hammer roller and probably the inside of the upper receiver but it'll take a long time to wear significantly as the top part of the bolt is still that moveable plastic bit, I have high hopes it'll run for a good long while.

      a lot with an MWS, especially with a steel barrel and real steel buffer tube, the weakest part is the receiver where the pins go through but stories of broken receivers are extremely rare, I treat my rifle pretty badly to be honest, testing the limits and repairing what breaks, however most of the time I upgrade before anything breaks. there aren't any small or weak parts put under any real pressure so its a workhorse.
