  • Amana Surfacing Bit: amzn.to/3zpYsK2
    1/4 in pin amzn.to/3L87xdg
Before starting any project on the CNC we first need to zero out the x and y axis. We purchased a precision pin which measures exactly 1/4 of an inch. We have found that using this pin is the easiest and most accurate method of zeroing out the axis. We put a link to the pin in the description below if you want to check it out.
After the x and y axis were zeroed out, we swapped out the quarter inch rod for the surfacing bit. We then use the surfacing bit to zero out the z-axis.
This slab of English Walnut will eventually be a floating shelf for our customer. Last week we filled any of the imperfections with black epoxy and now it is time to surface the board to remove excess epoxy and create an even height across the board.
Stay tuned to watch the power of this Avid CNC take on an easy surfacing job.

Really like the pin idea! Gives very accurate X and Y coordinates

Pretty light skim. Didn't remove pencil lines.
