I have done the exact same repair several times the past 2 weeks. Each time it lasts for about a day or two and then a piece of the seat pops out and water begins running. I have tried the name brand delta seats and other manufacturers. I have no idea what is wrong with it. Everything looks perfectly fine. Any ideas what could be causing this?
@al - I am guessing here, but you may possibly have an old seat (or parts of one) that is completely deteriorated and stuck inside/underneath. As you put the new one on top, it compresses and as you use it it "pops" eventually. Another alternative is that you are using the wrong size springs for your faucet. You may need the extra long ones vs the standard ones? The fact that it pops out makes me lean towards the idea that it's not the correct length.
