Ginger was a cranky old grump, but his talent cannot be refuted. The man could flat out play the drums, and his musical sensibility was remarkable. Every note in its proper place. RIP.
Hell Yah! I’ve purchased he original album twice on vinyl. One died and one got swiped at a party. Purchased it on cassette too, played the shi$ out of it and…more dead music. Truly one of my favourite albums of all time too. It didn’t hurt that Mr Goss helped out Kyus and Queens too. Brilliant stuff. Here’s for the great post and trip down memory lane. 👍❤️
I was fortunate enough to see Masters of Reality live at Flamingos in Knoxville for the Sunrise on the Sufferbus tour. Baker's performance was absolutely perfect. I wasn't even familiar with Masters of Reality before that night because I went just to see Ginger perform live, but I left that show as a fan of the band.
These guys were absolutely fantastic! So underrated and forgotten. It's a travesty. I tell people about them and there like..."who"...sad. Pisses me off actually.
Love these guys! Found their cassette in the hallway, in front of the lockers, in junior high. I was twelve! Been listening ever since!! Turned them on to my Dad. He blasted that shit in his two door, hard top, 65 impala till the day he died! Miss you Dad, and Thank you Masters!!!
Wow, what a coincidence! I just now listened to this song on their Live at the Viper Room CD.! The fact that the one and only great Ginger Baker was willing to join this band speaks volumes about its creativity and ass kicking songs. What's weird is that it's actually one of the greatest, yet least known rock and roll bands out there. But I've had the original album in my collection since 1988. Thank God! And my older brother, who introduced me to the album.😂
It's turning into one of those evenings, just at the stage where a wee bitta the Masters needed, stumbled on this version of the little ditti that is John brown aaaaaa, where to next ..??..😁😁😋
One of the guys in our student house bought this in ‘89 when it came out. He played it and it blew us all away, we all went out to buy it the next day! Incredible album, wish I’d bought it on vinyl though and not cd as the vinyl on Def American is gonna cost me a fortune now!!😂
Bought the blue Garden album on the strength of the cover. Best gamble I ever made. Still hammer that album now, recently purchased on vinyl again too.
I miss him ginger may have been a little too course for most people but, you have to admit that he was one of the great ones, he was a mean hard to get along with dude but damn he was the only drummer that could drive the truck and I miss that mean old bastard more than anyone could ever know, I loved the guy, he may have said some shit that well nobody ever wants to hear but, I knew he always had my back
I must admit, although MOR have made fine albums all down the line, their eponymous debut will always occupy the dearest space in my heart. I first heard it at a party in late 1990, and it became one of my all-time favourites on the spot. Rubin's signature raw, in your face production really brought the rock and blues balls out properly on that record. A total classic.
amen on that brother. found em by accident abou t'80 when i passed a bar called trees in dallas. went see kings x, and these guys opened. what a show! like you, i wore this and sunrise out multiple times on cassette these guys should be a household name by now. instead we have garbage like judas priest passing for real rock sad.
Workmate is a big Cream fan and I gave him a lift one day, Rabbit One was just starting on the stereo. He said "Is this Cream" just from Ginger's drum intro
No one at that time played the drums angry with a chip on their shoulder like ginger I think he was at his best at this moment in time he was still an A hole but he was a good A hole
Ginger made this whole fucking song!! Just an example of how a great drummer can make a mediocre group of dudes great. He brought some character and swagger to this right here. It’s more than technique kids, it’s living a life to the fullest that gives you that personality behind your instrument.
He was deluded. And Sunrise was their worst album, presumably because of him. He was a corpse at that point. They got back on track after he split/died/whatever happened to him 🤷🏻♂️ 😴
Tragic when you think of all the rubbish bands that have made it since 1990 and yet few know of this lineup. Best thing Ginger did since Cream. The single greatest drummer rock ever produced, by a mile. John Bonham couldn't have carried his luggage.
The only fault with your post is that appreciation of music is entirely subjective (one mans meat etc) So, yes I agree with you but it is all a matter of opinion.
Just remember Ginger is still around and only dying will stop hime from playing. Well, maybe his heart attack. Neil Peart has said: "His playing was revolutionary - extrovert, primal and inventive. He set the bar for what rock drumming could be. [...] Every rock drummer since has been influenced in some way by Ginger - even if they don't know it. (Ginger's WIKI) I saw him with Cream in 1968--HE WAS A GOD. For those who only remember the Cream era. You know less than half of what he can do. Ginger could and did play any style of music. Check out his "African Force" stuff. I don't throw crap at different musicians. I like who I like and that's enough for me. And please don't get stuck in the past. There is some damned good new music out there. Yeah, it's hard tofind sometimes, but good music was hard to find in the sixties too. There was no FM radio and AM didn't play anything over three minutes.
Saw this line up at Stoney Brook U on Long Island. about 300 people it was such a great show the best this band ever sounded. Too bad the grunge movement did not dig this. They opened for Stone Temple Pilots and people did not like them.
You know what happened then damn that curt Cobain if it hadn't been for that stupid smells like teen spirit record we were the next in line to ride the train, instead we got dropped and into the bargain bin forever left there because of an inferior grunge movement that took off Cobain was no lyrical genius and to hear people compare him to John Lennon makes me throw up in my mouth a little, it's just a damn shame how it all went down
We didn't like the people too much either it was a bitter time for the band, it was supposed to be our time and when that was taken away it just sucked all the life out of the band 😢sad but true
The wanna be has beens that never were, but almost were a damn shame the day of that show a Steven segal film was released and the song domino was featured in it but, it was already over grunge was the scene and knowing how to play your instruments was no longer cool, it was three dirty power chords for the next 8 years
I love the 1st record but sunrise on the sufferbus was good too! Never got to see these guys live a pretty big regret I got! What ever happened to them?
They broke up and all went their seperate ways, the wanna be has beens that never were, the got damn saddest story in rock n roll, was primed to bs the next big thing and what happened well grunge happened kurt Cobain happened and this bands future was over
i went to grammar school with Chris Goss and a year of high school...later he went to a community college i went to and he would play in a band sometimes in the student center..i remember he played a Flying V
Someone who has tabs for this one ? I guess Daniel Reys guitar is in standard tuning but who knows Chris' tuning. Might be some kind of open tuning. By the way while everybody here is wanking because of Ginger Baker Daniel on guitar is doing an amazing job.
Ginger was a cranky old grump, but his talent cannot be refuted. The man could flat out play the drums, and his musical sensibility was remarkable. Every note in its proper place. RIP.
Well said. Ginger is an absolute inspiration for me to drum
Terribly mis-understood and mis-handled, i strongly suspect he was deeply in the autistic spectum.
Unmistakable groove and swing. Fantastique !
He was a cranky old grump when he was 25!😂
the most underrated band of all time....that album should have sold 10 million copies....I played it constantly for years.....wore the fucker out....
radiozero93 Likewise
Indeed
I wore out two cassettes, I got it on CD, and basically wore that out.
Me too ❤️🌈🦋
Same. Totally agree.
That first Masters Of Reality record has a place in my heart, man...fucking gold.
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo GOOOOOOD front to back fucking real steel nothing but classic straight music!
This is better than the version on the first album. Ginger Baker rules and this band is soooo underrated.
VERY underrated!
Ginger Baker? Cream ? Master of reality underrated???? You sure yes?
Hell Yah!
I’ve purchased he original album twice on vinyl. One died and one got swiped at a party.
Purchased it on cassette too, played the shi$ out of it and…more dead music.
Truly one of my favourite albums of all time too.

👍❤️
Not in my books, he's my favorite, with Dany Carey a worthy successor.
im re- watching "Beware Mr. Baker" for the first time since 2014, and i had to hear this song....anybody else?....ha ha hah ha.
That's why I'm here this song kicks ass
Who else would have put this drum beat to this song, brilliant groove. Love Bakers drumming.
He's playing the lead instrument. Very. very few, since, could.
I concur
I was fortunate enough to see Masters of Reality live at Flamingos in Knoxville for the Sunrise on the Sufferbus tour. Baker's performance was absolutely perfect.
I wasn't even familiar with Masters of Reality before that night because I went just to see Ginger perform live, but I left that show as a fan of the band.
This band sounded so kickass when Ginger was drumming for them!
These guys were absolutely fantastic! So underrated and forgotten. It's a travesty. I tell people about them and there like..."who"...sad. Pisses me off actually.
"mista who?" she got me video, very end.....lol
Sad
Love these guys! Found their cassette in the hallway, in front of the lockers, in junior high. I was twelve! Been listening ever since!! Turned them on to my Dad. He blasted that shit in his two door, hard top, 65 impala till the day he died! Miss you Dad, and Thank you Masters!!!
This is what I always wanted to hear someone say
Where did you go to school kid,
Ginger Baker is thee standard by which all others will forever be measured
The Incomperable, Ginger Baker
Saw this tour in Hollywood, one of the best live shows I have seen. Ginger Baker had a smoke in his mouth during the whole show.
why is it the best musicians that smoked and played are gone now. It all computer made now. So miss these days...
As Ginger would so well put it..."It's music you can't put in a box".
"...because you can't put music in a box, Jay!"
I can't imagine why anyone would give this a thumbs down...
Greatest Drummer of all time.. RIP 🙏🏴🇬🇧
RIP Ginger, you were a huge inspiration to me. Hope you get the recognition you deserve wherever your spirit is now.
The musicianship is incredible on this. What a vibe.
his place in history is secure just on his hi-hat work alone - impeccable, untouchable.
talpajam
You are so right. 🥁
Long live Chris Goss
...saw this clip in " Beware Mr. Baker " .....Ginger is one Awesome drummer....
Ginger's feel. Damn, what a drummer.
This version is better than the original on the album. The incredible drumming by Ginger Baker alone lifts it up.
I saw this tour in Boston at a small, intimate venue. It was a thrill to see Ginger Baker in the flesh.
I'm glad to have their CD. i like Gettin' High very loud!!
R.I.P legend.

tremendous video...90's were the best
RIP GB . Thanks for taking the time to get me that pair of sticks in milwaukee, WI on this tour and for the music that we all enjoy !
Can I ask did Ginger get you some sticks? How did thaT GO?
for me the best drummer R.I.P
Nothing to say .... Does not get better.
i wish this or the original lineup of this band were back together....
awesome "mr baker"
Great band 👍 sounds crisp!
I need more. They had to play more.
I'm cleaning up my UA-cam playlists. Real happy to he back here
It's turning into one of those evenings, just at the stage where a wee bitta the Masters needed, stumbled on this version of the little ditti that is John brown aaaaaa, where to next ..??..😁😁😋
got damn that's a deep ass pocket. goss, you rule. ginger, you rule. master of reality was the best.
I love these guys. How did they get noticed in the 80s? This still sounds great, wish we'd had UA-cam back then.
Ginger is thr most talented drummer that ever lived
Look at 'em, they knew they nailed it.
Didn't they nail it too. Awesome track and the music haunts me.
One of the guys in our student house bought this in ‘89 when it came out. He played it and it blew us all away, we all went out to buy it the next day! Incredible album, wish I’d bought it on vinyl though and not cd as the vinyl on Def American is gonna cost me a fortune now!!😂
this song is terrific! really nice guitar work
went right into my favorites!
Awesome. Their name is taken from a Black Sabbath album (big clue eh) This track I couldn't get out of my mind.... Superlative.
Came out from black sabbath sings like led zeppelin lll nice anyway
Bought the blue Garden album on the strength of the cover. Best gamble I ever made. Still hammer that album now, recently purchased on vinyl again too.
Ginger Baker. John Brown. 2 Legends.
killer tune!
I love his hi-hat keeping pace on the upbeat - and he doesn't even get ashes on his snare drum!
What a band! So underrated!
Holiday, holiday, I declare a holiday.
Probably...ok..no..for sure the best video here on youtube. Thank you.
I miss him ginger may have been a little too course for most people but, you have to admit that he was one of the great ones, he was a mean hard to get along with dude but damn he was the only drummer that could drive the truck and I miss that mean old bastard more than anyone could ever know, I loved the guy, he may have said some shit that well nobody ever wants to hear but, I knew he always had my back

he was smart to put the drums up front on the first two ....
Ginger Baker laying it down like it's nobody's business!
amen on that brother. found em by accident abou t'80 when i passed a bar called trees in dallas. went see kings x, and these guys opened. what a show!
like you, i wore this and sunrise out multiple times on cassette
these guys should be a household name by now. instead we have garbage like judas priest passing for real rock
sad.
Masters of Reality - epic in Central Europe, ever since 1989
great song from a band that never really got any airplay-wbcn in boston played the candy song....but nothing else
R.I.P. Ginger !

Wait….wHat!?!? 🤨🤔 what in gods name are you talking about 🤦🏻🤣
Mediocre? I think not
I Heard this song originally from my dad and I finally found it
Seriously. Me too.
I don't understand how anyone with any appreciation of real music could possibly give this gem a thumbs down. Jackasses
mr baker kickin ass
Badass.
Great band
Hi I recommend a song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
I read an interview with Ginger Baker years ago after Sunrise On The Sufferbus came out. He said he thought the first MOR album was terrible.
..yeah he was right, and without GB ... the third album was 60% less of drive - unfortunately
@@magabuzwait….what…??🤨
He was deluded. And Sunrise was their worst album, presumably because of him. He was a corpse at that point. They got back on track after he split/died/whatever happened to him 🤷🏻♂️ 😴

Well, best rock drummer until Neil Peart came along, but Ginger had a pretty good run.
