As far as the boots go, I feel like Nike understood that their boots were becoming overly complicated without having actual benefits from doing so. They certainly seemed to have figured out that refining the boots can be far better for them if they stop adding ingredients constantly. I think that's one of the reason people like the original HV so much is its simplicity.
I think hopefully that's what they're realising here. That refinement is better than a tonne of tech and building on top again and again and again and maybe losing what is great about some boots in the first place. This isn't perfect, but it doesn't have to be because when you put everything together it's just a good football boot. Very HV1 in that regard. This doesn't feel like the HV1 but it shares similarities and little touches and elements and I like that with the best bits taken from the vision. This is way more vision than venom. Although I will miss quadfit.
@@BootWizard I feel like that's a large appeal for Mizuno boots because they have tech but it is never over the top. It very much seems like a modern HV 1. Nothing seems to stand out but putting it all together makes it a great boot. Quadfit is good tech but yeah I think the boot loses out a bit by not having it.
Haven't even tested the Phantom GT but based on what I've seen those look like a brilliant pair if football boots, maybe even one of the best on the market. Again I haven't even tried them but I'm really excited for those 🙌🏻
I wore them for my first practice and they were kinda to good for me. I was not used to the good touch i had and sometimes when i dribbled i hit the ball with my toe because the boot is a little bigger than my older shoes (phantom vision 1 elite)
Felt that every thing was a lot easier than before i had the boots. (Had no expectations from the boots tbh and only bought them because my old ones broke.)

Boot Wizard tried them out for about 3 hours they’re brilliant - honestly the feel is great I had to get used to the grip and texture differences but as a whole they’re great! Only complaints I had was I had proper bad blisters wearing them but that’s expected innit and my left foot had cramps 😂

The GT is different, if you are looking for the most locked in responsive boot going, the most agressive traction then it's Mercurial all the way. But I'm probably likely to use the GT more.

Hii James, nice review. I just wish this was a leather boot with texturing, it could replace the current tiempo and the quadfit mesh it has. Anyways, nice to see nike taking this approach relating back to the og hypervenoms.

Would you say the Phantom GT is a better, more comfortable boot than the hypervenom phantom 3? I’m deciding whether to switch to the GT’s or remain with the hypervenom 3
TBH i´ll rather pick the pro variation because they look very similiar, but i believe the pro one has flyknit on the tongue/collar area and the rest is nike skin I really hope you can get that model too James because i´m kind interested on this boot right now

Hi, I don't have the AG plate on hand at the moment but yes, it seems Nike have shortened the studs and based on the info I have and the images I've seen I would think they are now possibly too short for an FG pitch like the previous AG Pro pattern. Thanks for checking out the video :)
I have a kind of bubbly extra room in the heel area when I cut directions in the gts, is this normal because I have an medium feet(closer to wide) and used to tight mercurial feel but have problem in breaking them in.
ı'm just little curious about this new studs.I got vapor 12 right now and some of the studs fell off,I generally play fg surfaces but worthy amounts of match can play ag surface.Which studs should ı prefer ag or fg ? Nice review btw 🚀
I actually made a video on this a little while ago. If you play mainly on AG surfaces then I would say get the AG Pro version because it will work fine for an FG pitch as well. And you get to keep your warranty.
Love the design of the boot but I wish they had kept the Flywire from the Hypervenom 3s or added the dual density yarns from the newest Vapors. After having the lockdown from the Hypervenom 3s I don’t know if I can go back to a cleat with just decent lockdown.
I totally get what you're saying, but I think if they had added flywire then it would take away from the overall feel and idea behind the Boot and while dual yarn is a great shout as an alternative I think then it would have been too similar to the vapor. Maybe they need to come up with a new system for the GT2
hey, I wear a 7.5 in the venom and like the fit but in a 7.5 in the vision I feel I have too much space in the toe, should I go half a size down? Loved the review
Personally I have gone half a size down and my experience with the venom and vision is exactly the same as yours. Fit is always very personal but half size down from the vision is solid for me.
this kinda reminds me of when Puma did the first Puma One and combined the EvoSpeed and EvoPower...it didnt get too far did they and now they are going back to a boot specialising in Speed in the Ultra. I like this GT boot but like u mentioned, it does not excel in one category enough to outshine the competition in my opinion. It's like a slightly better jack of all trades and master of none.
I'm not sure I agree in full, because while it doesn't excel in an individual category, the sum of its parts is actually a very good boot. One that I think does outshine it's competition and predassesors in many areas. I would pick this over a lot of boots that are around at the moment.
They look simple and effective that's what I like in football boots. If you get the chance to review the gt pro I would love to see that. Also your personal choice between the gt pro vs the vapor 13 pro
How similar is the fit and the last in comparison to the Phantom Venom, for some reason the Venom fits me better than any other Nike boot so if it's similar, I might have to look into these.
It's not really that similar. It has a reasonable amount of width through the midfoot like the Venom but the toe box construction is very different and the fit and feel is different too. If the venom fits you then this probably will as well, it's pretty accommodating, but I probably wouldn't make a comparison between the 2 shape wise.
Are those Falke 4 grip socks there? Are they worth the money in your view? Also, with the Nike Ag variants do you agree that the comical studs are a bit too long?
I think I prefer comical studs 😂😂😂. They can be a little long yes, however I think they have shortened them for the Phantom GT AG plate, I'm not 100% on that but fairly sure they have. Falke 4 socks probably give you the best grip around at the moment, so if you want pure grip they're pretty great. Very expensive though.

Do you think the FG stud pattern is too aggressive for AG, much like the current mercurials are? My superflies always get stuck in the artificial turf and just feel way too clingy. Also, do you think the texture is too grippy in that it interferes with dribbling a little? Thanks for your content as always
It's not as agressive as the Mercurial and even the Chevron bladed studs aren't as long on this as the Mercurial. I've used these a fair amount on AG and it's been okay, they're not a Boot I'd highly recommend, but one you could maybe get away with.
I think these will eventually become a better boot a more liked boot and Nike’s best seller the vapor ,, also theirs much more to come from the gt I will get in to that again cheers James
I hope there is more to come from the GT and it is refined and not ruined in the future. Not sure if it will ever be more popular than a Mercurial though.
Boot Wizard what I really mean and think is .. the mercurial vapor and the GT will move towards each other by the means that mercurial will get some of the features from the gt and wise versa .. like options on sole plates on the gt more aggressive like on the vapor etc. also the off center laces with a really wide lacing is something that will be positive for lockdown for medium wide feet. If I remember correctly you have pretty wide feet. Also a thing to consider is injury % risk with the shape of the vapor studs playing on AstroTurf,, Gt is much more suitable for all around use on all pitches awailible Ag Fg sg and hybrid pitches. Maybe it will be a mercurial vapor phantom GT ore simply mercurial vapor GT 😉 also like the mercurial superfly/ vapor well Nike can choose toke smack the GTs right out of the ball park and make the gt one of the best top 2 boots ever. From only looking at them and your review of them 😀
Man I'm in a tricky situation. I'm going into my senior year and I have 2 choices. One is do Physiotherapy in Brazil and im most likely going to have a quite chill and live a wealthy life . My second option is to study in Us , Sports Management, and play football there and try to risk it to become a pro . It's been my dream since I was 13 to be a pro footballer , i cant stop thinking about it and it's my dream. But idk what to do . Should i just give up on it and focus on my studies and live a good life but always think about what could have happened .
I have some questions until i give my answer. Can you get along with the Brazilian culture? How old are you? Do you have to pay the college to study Sports Management? Could the Sports Management help being a Physiotherapist?
Not really a question that I can answer, there are too many variables. You have to go for what you want, but be reaslistic about your chances of going pro.
Hello. First off, loved the review. Secondly, I was curious about a factor of these boots. I have VERY wide feet, and can only buy certain boots like the Adidas Copa’s or Puma Futures. I have never been able to even fit in my size of mercurials. Do you think I would be able to wear the phantom GT? (when I tried on the phantom visions they weren’t terrible)
Lockdown i think the nemeziz is better. Agility isn't really something you get from the boot it's something from you personally although both have similar traction. Touch the GT has a grippier feel and the nemeziz is more barefoot.
Loving the content! I have fairly wide and flat feet. I was excited to know that these fit generally wider (especially compared to Mercs), bought the Phantom GT Elite FG in the white and pink. Sadly, I got very bad blisters in the heel, and worse was the pain and ache/fatigue in the lateral side of both my feet! I normally start feeling this after 15-20 mins of wearing and it’s almost unbearable. Wore them for almost a week now with no improvement and debating to return them. Could this be because of the off-center lacing 🤔 and/or are my feet just too wide? Are there other options from either Nike or Adidas that you’d recommend? Thinking about trying the Tiempo or Speedflow? Any insight would be appreciated, thank you!!
It's likely that I won't have time to do the 19.2 because the new X Ghosted is right around the corner and I won't have time to make that review. I don't generally reccomend the X19.2 though. The vapor 13 pro is a better boot for similar money.

Honestly you shouldn't worry about how you play and just go for the Boot that fits you the best. My personal preference of the 2 boots you are talking about is the GT.
didn’t think you’d answer, but you did! been iffy on purchasing falke socks, thought about tape design but the fact that they only have one size socks sounds like they’ll jumble up on the heel. hopefully soon we can’t get this falke review from you thanks for the hard work you put in these vids
Do these feel like vapors on feet just wider ?.. I love the feeling of vapors and how close they are to the foot and it wraps around your foot but I have one pressure point.. will this give me the same feeling as the vapors ?
Not really, they have vapor elements in terms of a barefoot touch but they don't wrap your feet the same way that the vapor does, the extra width means more material which means they aren't as close to your foot. But it's about as close as you're going to get to a wide fit vapor.
Boot Wizard what boot would you recommend feels like a vapor ?.. I’ve been wearing vapors since vapor 10 and always had a pressure point on the outside of my foot after 10 minutes or 15 minutes of wear time.. or even when I am warming up before a game it starts to hurt but I love the feel of the vapor is their any boots that provide somewhat the same ?
@@edwin5091 each vapor is also different, a vapor 10 and a vapor 13 are very different propositions. A vapor 12 is going to be a fairly wide option compared to others and as I say for a wide fit vapor the gt could be your best bet or you should check out the puma ultra.
Boot Wizard would you say that the Gt’s feel more like the vision or venom? I have the venoms right now I’m still breaking them in but I absolutely LOVED the way the visions felt
The nike GT AG might be a better option for pure AG pitches as the reduced stud length will likely be a little safer however for an FG/AG option and some versatility the adidas might be the way to go.
The AZT range was super comfortable totally agree with you. My top pick for comfort right now is the puma future 5.1 and I would reccomend speaking to the gaijin boot blog about a couple of Mizuno options, he's an expert there. Maybe the Morelia II would be worth considering. And honestly these are pretty damn comfy but in a very different way to the AZT.
Check out some sales, a lot of boots like th vision Venom and so on can be bought at very low prices right now. If you click the link I put in the comments and go to the sale section there are a lot of options. Similarly predator 20.1 and x 19.1 all are on discounts in many places check out ProDirect soccer for that money you should be able to pick up an elite level boot.
I'm not against them removing the flywire, it does limit the lockdown and responsiveness, but I think if they added them and stiffened the upper it would take away from the overall feel.

Hey! If you're on the wide foot side then the GT or the Vision are your best bets. The Vision at 125 is a good price and a good deal. I do prefer the GT but that's a great deal on the vision
Lol you're lucky to have a car. I only have bikes 😅😅😅 Bought the mid cut they pretty much feel like SF6 but without pain and break in period. Studs is probably the strong point. Feel faster than SF6 . Though the hypervenom 1 kinda gives me better acceleration overall
@@indyneedhealing the main reasons I would choose the GT over the Predator are that I think the fit in the GT is much better, i think the predator fit is too unbalanced and I dislike the feeling through the midfoot. I also prefer the textured and touch on the ball in the GT, the predator is a bit distant and I think the demon skin has too much influence. In short for me, fits better, feels better.
Mine have been fine and especially if you go down half a size you should be okay however they are a wide boot and for some people you may have excess material.
I did answer this in the video a couple of times if you want a more detailed description I would check it out, but yes they should be fine for people with a wider foot
I would disagree, I think it depends on your foot type and shape, I don't have any of the issues that you mention, maybe if you have a high arch or a low arch you might have that problem but no issues for me. the lacing system is simple. It's not poor in my opinon.

Glad you like the Gato, I think if you're happy with the Future stick with those and maybe these are an option for your next pair of boots.

these are a lot wider than the merc and if you have too much room in the heel or movement you might want to consider half a size small.

I like this GT boot but like u mentioned, it does not excel in one category enough to outshine the competition in my opinion. It's like a slightly better jack of all trades and master of none.
I'm not sure I agree in full, because while it doesn't excel in an individual category, the sum of its parts is actually a very good boot. One that I think does outshine it's competition and predassesors in many areas.
I would pick this over a lot of boots that are around at the moment.

How similar is the fit and the last in comparison to the Phantom Venom, for some reason the Venom fits me better than any other Nike boot so if it's similar, I might have to look into these.
It's not really that similar. It has a reasonable amount of width through the midfoot like the Venom but the toe box construction is very different and the fit and feel is different too. If the venom fits you then this probably will as well, it's pretty accommodating, but I probably wouldn't make a comparison between the 2 shape wise.

My favourite boot to wear is still the nemeziz 19.1 so I'd pick that, although of what you've listed I'd probably pick the GT.

I think I prefer comical studs 😂😂😂. They can be a little long yes, however I think they have shortened them for the Phantom GT AG plate, I'm not 100% on that but fairly sure they have.
Falke 4 socks probably give you the best grip around at the moment, so if you want pure grip they're pretty great. Very expensive though.

Do you think the FG stud pattern is too aggressive for AG, much like the current mercurials are? My superflies always get stuck in the artificial turf and just feel way too clingy. Also, do you think the texture is too grippy in that it interferes with dribbling a little? Thanks for your content as always
It's not as agressive as the Mercurial and even the Chevron bladed studs aren't as long on this as the Mercurial.
I've used these a fair amount on AG and it's been okay, they're not a Boot I'd highly recommend, but one you could maybe get away with.

I hope there is more to come from the GT and it is refined and not ruined in the future. Not sure if it will ever be more popular than a Mercurial though.
Boot Wizard what I really mean and think is .. the mercurial vapor and the GT will move towards each other by the means that mercurial will get some of the features from the gt and wise versa .. like options on sole plates on the gt more aggressive like on the vapor etc. also the off center laces with a really wide lacing is something that will be positive for lockdown for medium wide feet. If I remember correctly you have pretty wide feet. Also a thing to consider is injury % risk with the shape of the vapor studs playing on AstroTurf,, Gt is much more suitable for all around use on all pitches awailible Ag Fg sg and hybrid pitches. Maybe it will be a mercurial vapor phantom GT ore simply mercurial vapor GT 😉 also like the mercurial superfly/ vapor well Nike can choose toke smack the GTs right out of the ball park and make the gt one of the best top 2 boots ever. From only looking at them and your review of them 😀
Man I'm in a tricky situation. I'm going into my senior year and I have 2 choices. One is do Physiotherapy in Brazil and im most likely going to have a quite chill and live a wealthy life . My second option is to study in Us , Sports Management, and play football there and try to risk it to become a pro . It's been my dream since I was 13 to be a pro footballer , i cant stop thinking about it and it's my dream. But idk what to do . Should i just give up on it and focus on my studies and live a good life but always think about what could have happened .

Hello. First off, loved the review. Secondly, I was curious about a factor of these boots. I have VERY wide feet, and can only buy certain boots like the Adidas Copa’s or Puma Futures. I have never been able to even fit in my size of mercurials. Do you think I would be able to wear the phantom GT? (when I tried on the phantom visions they weren’t terrible)
If you can get in the vision and it's not awful you might actually get away with the GT, there is a decent amount of width there.

Lockdown i think the nemeziz is better. Agility isn't really something you get from the boot it's something from you personally although both have similar traction. Touch the GT has a grippier feel and the nemeziz is more barefoot.

Does the phantom gt stretch in fit ?
Loving the content! I have fairly wide and flat feet. I was excited to know that these fit generally wider (especially compared to Mercs), bought the Phantom GT Elite FG in the white and pink. Sadly, I got very bad blisters in the heel, and worse was the pain and ache/fatigue in the lateral side of both my feet! I normally start feeling this after 15-20 mins of wearing and it’s almost unbearable. Wore them for almost a week now with no improvement and debating to return them. Could this be because of the off-center lacing 🤔 and/or are my feet just too wide? Are there other options from either Nike or Adidas that you’d recommend? Thinking about trying the Tiempo or Speedflow? Any insight would be appreciated, thank you!!
It's not likely to be a width problem but certainly could be a fit Vs tour feet problem. Could be worth giving the Speedflow .1 a look

Honestly you shouldn't worry about how you play and just go for the Boot that fits you the best. My personal preference of the 2 boots you are talking about is the GT.

I've had the GT for about a month now. The boot is nice and cool looking, but it kinda lacks when compared to the phantom venom.
Personally I disagree but boots are all about preference.
Do these feel like vapors on feet just wider ?.. I love the feeling of vapors and how close they are to the foot and it wraps around your foot but I have one pressure point.. will this give me the same feeling as the vapors ?
Not really, they have vapor elements in terms of a barefoot touch but they don't wrap your feet the same way that the vapor does, the extra width means more material which means they aren't as close to your foot. But it's about as close as you're going to get to a wide fit vapor.
Boot Wizard what boot would you recommend feels like a vapor ?.. I’ve been wearing vapors since vapor 10 and always had a pressure point on the outside of my foot after 10 minutes or 15 minutes of wear time.. or even when I am warming up before a game it starts to hurt but I love the feel of the vapor is their any boots that provide somewhat the same ?
@@edwin5091 each vapor is also different, a vapor 10 and a vapor 13 are very different propositions. A vapor 12 is going to be a fairly wide option compared to others and as I say for a wide fit vapor the gt could be your best bet or you should check out the puma ultra.
Boot Wizard would you say that the Gt’s feel more like the vision or venom? I have the venoms right now I’m still breaking them in but I absolutely LOVED the way the visions felt

What's your thoughts against the nike gt AG Vs addidas X AG 2020
The nike GT AG might be a better option for pure AG pitches as the reduced stud length will likely be a little safer however for an FG/AG option and some versatility the adidas might be the way to go.

The AZT range was super comfortable totally agree with you. My top pick for comfort right now is the puma future 5.1 and I would reccomend speaking to the gaijin boot blog about a couple of Mizuno options, he's an expert there. Maybe the Morelia II would be worth considering.
And honestly these are pretty damn comfy but in a very different way to the AZT.

You can but it will void your warranty and might be a little agressive.

Similarly predator 20.1 and x 19.1 all are on discounts in many places check out ProDirect soccer for that money you should be able to pick up an elite level boot.

I'm not against them removing the flywire, it does limit the lockdown and responsiveness, but I think if they added them and stiffened the upper it would take away from the overall feel.

Hey! If you're on the wide foot side then the GT or the Vision are your best bets. The Vision at 125 is a good price and a good deal. I do prefer the GT but that's a great deal on the vision

Bought the mid cut they pretty much feel like SF6 but without pain and break in period. Studs is probably the strong point. Feel faster than SF6 . Though the hypervenom 1 kinda gives me better acceleration overall
Glad you're enjoying them man, I agree great boots and I love the traction and much more comfortable than the SF6

Personal choice the GT, but I'm not a huge fan of the predator 20 range anyway.

@@indyneedhealing the main reasons I would choose the GT over the Predator are that I think the fit in the GT is much better, i think the predator fit is too unbalanced and I dislike the feeling through the midfoot. I also prefer the textured and touch on the ball in the GT, the predator is a bit distant and I think the demon skin has too much influence. In short for me, fits better, feels better.

Mine have been fine and especially if you go down half a size you should be okay however they are a wide boot and for some people you may have excess material.

I would disagree, I think it depends on your foot type and shape, I don't have any of the issues that you mention, maybe if you have a high arch or a low arch you might have that problem but no issues for me. the lacing system is simple. It's not poor in my opinon.
