Hi Becky, I have those bowls and they were sold as a salad set with a larger bowl. The bottom of mine has a gold sticker that says Ozark Black Walnut, Native wood products, Ozark Missouri.
I would love to see the other items in a haul. What an interesting trip of thrifting and how exciting to be buying fun things for your new home! Take care
I like God's Mission Thrift Store. You can negotiate the price of items and can find some treasures there. The owner is called "mama" and she is a doll. You didn't find her on a day she was there. That guy is a helper and is not vested in customer service (LOL). Mama takes care of everyone in the community and will give things to people that are in need. She does have some junk, but often when people are severely low income come in, she will give them to people. Mama also is having some health problems. I'm sorry you missed her.
GIRL!!!!! There’s a true crime podcast I listen to called My favorite murder and one of their sayings to women who do things that feel sketchy because they don’t want to seem ‘rude’ is ‘F*** politeness!’ I’m so happy you are okay. I’ve done this stuff too out of fear of seeming rude and now I have to remind myself that when it comes to my safety…I need to not care!
Honestly, that's what I was thinking to myself..."am I staying b/c I actually really want this stuff or b/c I feel sorry for this thrift store and am trying to be polite?" But you're right - that can't be the main reason why I do anything!
I'm a new subscriber, from Lori Tata channel and loving your content! Love your second channel ideas! I recently relaunched my reselling business and expanded onto some other platforms outside of eBay, I was totally excited to see your in the midwest area! 😊
Next time you’re in Peoria, go to Mission Mart and Helping Hands Thrift Shops on War Memorial Dr. just a couple blocks from each other. My 2 favorite non-goodwill shops. Also if you were up by Bradley, the Church Mouse is neat that ReStore on Main but weird hours. You were in my territory!
Hi Becky! New subscriber here. First off, I love that you’re doing a coastal theme for your house. It’s one of my favorite interior design themes. I don’t usually comment on youtube, but so much of this haul was so relatable to me and I found myself weirdly nodding to what you were saying 😆. 1 was for the ceiling light that I could totally see on a boat like you mentioned. 2 was when you brought out that Asian lamp I totally knew right away you got nautical vibes from the wave pattern! And lastly, the ship steering wheel - oh my gosh, my parents used to have one that was made into a chandelier and I used to love that thing to death! I also want to mention about the Asian lamp. So, cloisonné is actually when wires (usually flattened wires) are bent into designs and then those designs are filled with powered enamel. The enamel melts when fired and fills the piece. It looks to me that your lamp is painted to have that cloisonné look, but it’s not actual cloisonné. It’s definitely has a chinoiserie design though. Hope that’s helpful! Keep up the great videos! 😄
It's such a small world, I've been watching your videos for a few months now and didn't even realize that you lived about an hour away from me. Peoria is such a tricky town to thrift and find solid items due to it's demographics. If you ever need some inventory, I'm always buying clothing even though I never have time to list it and would let it go in a heart beat.
We live up near Rockford and traveling to Peoria tomorrow for my daughter Neurologist appt. Planning on stopping at a few thrifts while we are down there. Might have to check the free store out see if my daughter can find some good y2k styles. I was born in Peoria lived and lived first 8 years of my life there. My parents left because my dad was constantly getting laid off in the 80s when everything was shutting down. Still have family there but I always find Peoria an interesting area.
It is definitely a super interesting area...haha. Definitely check the hours of "Enough Stuff" before you go because if I remember, they were kind of weird.
You’re inspiring me to visit more thrift stores other than goodwill!! I need to do that, especially because I feel like GW prices are a little higher than those smaller thrift stores.
Great thrift items! You have to give stores a chance because you never know what hidden gems you’ll find. Loved the Americana jacket, so unique and special!
Glad you survived that thrift trip! Looks like you found some cool stuff too. lol I’ve been to Peoria a few times for disc golf with my family. We found a huge church sale while we were there luckily.
Those bowls would be great just for accent pieces in decor or to hold small items that you need to coral. Love wood too, but I don't know what that is either!
omg all i kept i was...is this was my store....is this was my space....that is good that your intuition was guiding you but that you knew that was not an ideal situation. i was literally in the store with you as you were telling the story ... Gods Mission may it recover and bloom :D
Cool video, I love going small thrift stores but yes going in the back room, girl you are too brave, and I have the perfect picture to go with the ship wheel, thriftless February is rough, I didn't do good at first but better now, thanks for sharing
Hey..my hometown. At this same store with the guy with the blankets (lol I went through that to) I bought 4 pairs of Miss Me jeans for $8...I caught him before he locked up. He wouldn't hurt a fly. He's a deacon at a local church. Peoria has a lot of stores.
That light fixture is fabulous! So is the lamp, and we want to see all the things and places. The cracks on the lamp is called crazing. And I don’t think it is cloisonné, but it’s a similar looking painting style. Cloisonné would have a metal wire in between each paint color and then painted/colored in with enamel. Like if I listed that, I would say it was hand painted. The wooden ships steering wheel is perfect!
Hi Becky, Been watching and learning from you for a few months now and you've helped me a lot. I'm also part time (very) and otherwise retired and enjoying life in Oregon. Anyway wanted to make a suggestion for your wooden bowls. You might want to contact Chris at Ginger Marvin since he has been a wood crafter. He seems like he would be delighted to help anyone and probably especially another UA-cam reseller 😃 Keep up the great work!!!
Hi Becky, from the sound of the bowls (does that seem weird?) they sound like teak. I grew up with my parents having a bunch of teak pieces for outdoors, and that resonated ,( no pun intended) with me.
@@beckyparkco yes they look like walnut salad bowls that would come with a big salad bowl that was short and wide like the smaller bowls and a matching walnut salad spoon and fork for tossing. I think they used to ad vise rubbing them with salad oil regularly!
Love the insight from shopping at different stores than the big well known ones. I don't always find the best stuff at the random stores, but I've found some gems and always have fun checking out somewhere new. I'd love a video about moving as a reseller. We are probably listing our house soon and I'm so worried about showing it with my inventory out in the open. I don't have a tote or box system, everything is on racks or closets in the basement. It's organized enough, but I worry about doing an open house and people walking out with a pair of shoes or something. I've thought about throwing tarps over everything to hide some of it. Any thoughts? It would be interesting to hear your take on showing the house with inventory and what packing it up is going to look like.
oh boy. Trust me - there will be videos coming your way regarding this...I have a feeling it is going to suuuuuuck. Thankfully, all of my listed inventory is in bins, so I think that'll be really easy to move into the new house. My death pile items, however...that's a different story. That's why I'm trying to list all that stuff right now.
It looks like there was some nice art glass in that weird thrift store. Glad you are ok! I'm pretty sure the bowls are American walnut, just based on previous experience.
I have to go back and watch again, but I saw a couple of vases (one blue one green maybe) that looked pretty interesting...I wish I had been with you, I would have filled your cart!
@@beckyparkco Do you ever watch The Crazy Lamp Lady - you can learn a lot about "hard goods" like art glass and collectibles from her and she is a lot of fun. Also Karen Lavender Clothesline. But the CLL has some good knowledge.
I went to a garage sale down a dead end road from a cemetery. The man was nice but the whole time I was so nervous. I picked up a few things and he only asked for $2.00. Always have phone on & keys with pepper spray ready.
I saw an episode of Forensic Files where a woman went to a store for babies and children (in a normal looking mall) and while she was browsing (she was the only customer) the young man working there, who was the son of the owner, locked the door and forced her into the backroom, where she was assaulted and killed. So it’s best not to take chances!
I like Laura Caldwell, of course, The Crazy Lamp Lady, Jenna Phipps, Bargain Barons, XO McKenna, and Salena , Vintage Bombshell, in terms of decorating with thrifted items. I have other favorites for various reasons. I literally will watch anyone unless I have no interest or they are boring or irritating. There are so many cool people on UA-cam that are very entertaining. I am from Illinois and live east of Indy. I know that you go to the bins on Washington Street. Are there any other favorites in Indy. Love your show. I learn so much.
👋 I live about 45 minutes nw of Peoria but never get over that way except to go to Costco. I haven't been impressed with any of the thrift stores there. BUT If you are in that area again, there is a consignment store in Washington (15 minutes from Peoria) called castaway consignment. I follow them on Facebook, check them out. It looks like they have amazing clearance sales. I still haven't gotten over that way yet to check though 😕
Yeah definitely walk away from backroom experiences🙅🏾♀️. As for Rachel Zoe show, I too loved watching. Her personality was interesting to watch plus I loved Brad. It's amazing how Rachel Zoe, Rachel Roy and Nine West resale poorly but I find a lot of my closet filled with their clothes.

I 100% want to see a thrift haul from the antique store! Also, I love all the nautical stuff.
I'll have to film the haul!

Those are walnut salad bowls! My grandparents have that exact set, with a matching salad bowl and tongs (from the late 70s I think).
Okay, maybe I'm outvoted.
how cool!!!

@Becky Park I haven't listed it yet, but let me send you a pic first, it's been painted but I don't know the artist and it doesn't have a frame
I want that Rachel Zoe cardigan! When does February drop?
This Friday at 3PM CST! Oh yay!
The hanging lamp brought back some memories. My grandparents had one similar to that over their kitchen table.
Yes, I HOPE she doesn't spray paint that
ooooh really? That is one of the spots I was thinking about putting it!

Americana Tapestry Jacket! Cool!
