I do like Marines glistening/wet effects on the chest and stomach, and I like the blushing face and hair glistening. But perhaps that was touched up more later?
Yeah she was primary focusing in the shadows so she toggled off the other effects, and in the clip she didn't finish the wet effect, it was left for later
if you check the stream and some other clips, you see Rurudo adding various small extra details, such as more water droplets and visual... enhancements... on Ina's chest area
I like Marine's courage for having another artist "touch" your work. Artists are very prideful about their work. The better you are, the more prideful you are. Pride is not a negative thing for artists (artists who draw/paint), because pride shows your confidence on your work. Having another do "corrections" kind of hits in a sense that "I know I did my best but I didn't know it was this bad" thing hits you sometimes. In that regard, I do think Marine's work is good. It was better with the touch because of more consistent lighting but I'm more amazed by her taking those criticisms (or corrections).
Yeah, also hate doing detailed painting, but just realized that I can just use transparent paint buckets to fix anything I didn't want to hit outside the layer instead of relying on a background color to keep it contained.
The fact that a vtuber artist is correcting an artist vtuber's art of another artist vtuber is amazing to me. They're all great artists too who have worked on big projects.
the after version, in terms of shading sense is much better than senchou's before version. i just think once senchou puts her touch into the shading details for the after version, that's when the real magic happens!!! >v
In case you're wondering the finished version does have improved reflections and subtle highlights from water (in 3D we call it global illumination lmao)
as an artist I like rurudo's shadows better. Do you think it would look better assuming they put the highlights and details back on? Because of course rurudo painted over the details while adjusting the shadows. I think some of the shadows in the original were obvious mistakes. Not painful mistakes, but still mistakes because there's no artistic justification to deviate from reality, and Marine probably simply overlooked it. The shadow at the bikini strap for example did look weird because it's just so far from what reality would be. Yes anime is stylized, but this part is not an issue of style. A mistake doesn't have to be painfully obvious to qualify as a mistake. There are some animes where the right hand is accidentally drawn as the left hand. No one cares, and it doesn't cause people to hate the anime, but you'd still correct it if you were given the chance, if you were a perfectionist.
this was mainly touching up on the shadows and lighting. The blush and tube are still there in the final artwork Marine posted, they just disabled the layer here for comparison purposes. Tube got touched up a bit too, not shown in this video. The sun is just there to symbolize the source of light so it's easier to understand which direction the lighting comes from and how shadows are cast.
Honestly, this is the only "art fixes" that I accept. Just some slight touches and subtle changes in the lighting. Not those Twitter art "fixes" where they practically slide the skin color darker. Also those who make the character "realistic" by making them gain more weight.
I actually really like the corrections that Naoki Saito sensei does, I think his criticism is actually really helpful overall!! He has a UA-cam channel where he uploads them if you are interested!
@@Someone-dj6kk yes, naoki saito is so good at correcting artworks and at the same time makes me learn as well [For anyone want to check him out, he also corrected Senchou's Calli fanart too]
Believe it even though marine says she understand she will make the same mistake at her next drawing, its because its her habits she drawing like that for years even after someone teach her how to do it in right way she wont and will make a same mistake some time its happen to me recently
Y'all are high. Without the glisten the coloring looks flat. The right shoulder was a good touch-up though. Edit: For those who haven't read other comments, this isnt the finished change. The actual finished one looks really good. Especially love the sun glasses.
True, but "bothers" sounds more negative than it actually is. On the other hand "interest" is definitely not what was being said. I guess rather than a direct translation, a better one would be asking what stands out rather than what bothers her.
The "after" is more like a no edits vibe like if you remove flairs etc.. the "Before "though give more emphasis around the belly button then up to the face which i like more..
. . . The first one is actually better. Because something that's completely being forgotten about in the second image is reflected light. The first image still has reflected light in it. A water's surface would reflect light back on the subject. The second one completely removes indication of a bright reflected light. (ie. If you go in a pool during the day, the light of the pool will still reflect up onto your body at certain angles. Bounced lighting is a thing.) On top of that, it also looks like the rim light was removed from the arm as well, and really, removing the smaller light details just made the illustration look worse. Having a rim light is important for good lighting and no light will light a subject with any kind of curve or dimension to it that flatly (ie. a plane vs a cylinder). Also Marine did a good job with the small shine areas. They aren't as light as where the main light is, but it gives more dimension to the curvature. The shininess might seem like much, but you can also excuse the effect as sunscreen. No one's skin is that matte though, especially when you're in water. Shadow placement in the second one when it comes to the arm and shoulder are more accurate, but the matte look is so completely off it looks worse.
yeah, imagine it's like this: the blush and some other parts are just layers, the shadow is also a layer. In this video, she fix the shadow layer, so other layers didn't appear. That picture is not the final product.
personally, i like the before better than the after one, I just think the after one is a bit flat, especially in the chest/torso area but they are both amazing pieces of art !!
>loses terminator line on the right leg >loses all terminator lines and subtle shadows. >loses hue difference in the shadow how is this an improvement? Don't let a child improve your work, Marine.
the original were better to be honest, rurudo only fixed 2 mistakes from sencho's art, not very important ones, but she added at least one mistake by ignoring the hair so at the end she only fixed one issue, plus her style is quite flat and tenuous, almost cadaverous, senchou's style is bright and colorfull, full of life, rurudo is not a very professional artist after all, so thats expected, unfortunately most of the high-profile artists still dont collaborate with vtubers, so i dont think we are going to see anything very professional on this world, at least not yet.
These are the adjustments Rurudo has made in 10 minutes. There's another 3 hours worth of stream where she makes adjustments to more elements of Marine's art. What's only shown in this video is the adjustments to the Shadows. The Flashy effects that makes Marine's before look better are turned off because they will make adjustments to those later.
It’s the subtle things like this that really elevate a drawing to the next level.
"The last 2% is the hardest, that's why they leave it in the milk."

Being Towa's mom (and also seeing her other arts), Rurudo is certainly an expert in elevating those -small- precious chests.
The arm, back, and shoulders really shows the difference. It feels more 3D
Rurudo-mama is always a treat.
I've always hated doing shadows in drawings. People that can do it correctly are amazing.
Also Ina art looking amazing as usual.

Thanks for the TL! really appreciate understanding some kami advice
I actually prefer Sencho's Version cause it makes Ina look cuter, but the after Imagine is waay more technical and accurate shadowing.
the one in the comparison isn't finished yet, check out rurudo's final version.
the "before" one has more details and reflections and lots of stuff, all of those were later added to the one with the improved shadows
I think she just hid the extra layers so that she could focus on the lighting, right?
Anime isnt suposed to be realistic
@@vonluciff7027 i think accurate shadowing goes a long way in making it look good, nobody mentioned realism in other regards that aren't shadowing
I sometimes forget with how much they fool around, that this are freaking talented girls. Those drawings are really nice.
Both Sencho and ruru chan is such a good artist. But i just wonder how ina herself will comment/adjust the illustration
