I get to hear it every "morning"(3a.m.) watching the older TV show "Family Law" it's the theme song. They have three versions of the song, one sung by someone else tho.
1970-71 flying around the Central Highlands as a door gunner 7/17th Air Cav. listening to this on Armed Forces Radio. This song really stuck in my head all these years later.
For everyone correcting the late Edwin Starr on the benefits of war. Take a minute to remember when this song was released.... Vietnam war, where innocent people were murdered by both sides as well as the people who wanted to help the people of Vietnam. That's what this song is about, not WWI, not WWII, not the American Civil War, not the Korean Civil War, not the Chinese Civil War or any other war. This was one of the many political songs released during that period of that horrible war with many other songs we relate to that period of time. e.g. Paint It Black - Rolling Stones So shut the fuck up and enjoy the song, no-one died so we could all bicker over the internet.
Seriously going through seven's from my shed and this is in it, brilliant loved him, this should be an international anthem for the globe if we ever get it together 👍👍
Absolutely love this song. Also love when people just blindly think that war can just go away when people want it to. Because it's not caused by differing ideologies, power hungry dictators or simply out of resource necessity and other complex and sensitive matters, but because people don't believe it away!
Joachim Murat well I believe we are in the longest "world peace" period humanity has ever been in. As in no major world powers have duked it out for a while so we've been doing a good job so far
I first heard this song in 1970 at dance club, at my Junior High. This was during the Vietnam war. I am so sad and sorry that it still relevant. Love the song and the passion, wish the message would be heard!
i remember the first time i heard this song on the radio... It was like a week after the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003, and the station played it for that reason... Looking back at it now it still rings as true now as it did back then...
My Brother Carl had recorded this song with the group that either recorded it originally or someone in the Hamilton, Toronto area in the 70's , his name was Carl and he was one hell of a drummer, I'll always remember that of him. He died last year unexpectantly and I'll old this memory in my heart always.NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT THE SONG MEANT "WAR" but because I can hear him playing the drums whenever I hear this song you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on any record.......
A lot of the comments are saying they are here because of some movie or tv show or whatever....I'm here because it is a kickass song from an era long gone. Great memories!!!
@@xYonowaaru Here because I had ahead 'rush' about the song I've known for half a century. Nostalgia. True words in my mind. Oh, I served 69/70. Keep good. An Aussie
Oh! Gulliver's Travels! Oh it reminds me when i watch the movie when i was KID! i was 10 years old at the time. Oh god. Bring so much memories. I watch this movie like 10 times in 3 months
+The Napoleonist first: look who's talking?! pretty sure war didn't end very well for you. Second: It's actually more expensive to go to war than it it to triad peacefully.
I think there are a lot more than 411, since we're chasing imaginary threats, creating real ones faster than we can comprehend, and the majority of people are perfectly fine with it. :V
Unfortunately, war is inevitable in mankind. We can't all agree with one another. I'd love peace on earth, but because of money, oil, exports/imports, and religion (and more), we'll never be on the same page. The crusades are technically still going on.
The problem is not that humans disagree over things. The problem is that humans want everybody to have the same opinion, they can't have other people disagree.
I'm here in 2020 and this song still rings true 52 years later.
Sure does!!
I get to hear it every "morning"(3a.m.) watching the older TV show "Family Law" it's the theme song. They have three versions of the song, one sung by someone else tho.
True
A bit of trivia: War, Eve of Destruction, Knocking on Heavens Door, Get Together and 160 other songs were banned from playing on radio after 9/11.
@@treseoreilly1953 are they still banned or was the banned lifted? It’s been 20 years

War is good for making money. Fuck innocent human life. Those suits need money in their pocket.

war costs way too much money.

Get the facts right girl. As this was released in 1970 how could it be copied from Rush Hour....
