I have an easier explanation for the "same Marty" bullshit. Two, in fact. Explanation one: Marty is disjointed from the flow of time because of his time travel, meaning that his parents didn't need to happen to conceive the exact same Marty- there's one timeline that changes if the past is altered, like in Doctor Who. Marty wasn't changed because that would cause a paradox, and because he was dislodged from the flow of time. So, same Marty, different timeline where he still exists due to self-fulfilling prophecy. Theory two: Quantum entanglement. It's when the existence of two things are so closely interlinked that they absolutely *HAVE* to exist together. For instance, let's say we have two dimensions. In Dimension A, we have Doc Brown and Marty. In Dimension B, neither of them exist. For whatever reason, Doc Brown gets pulled into Dimension B, and because his existence in the fabrics of time and space is so dependent on Marty, Marty gets pulled through with him. It's like the files of a game. If you get rid of one file, the whole thing won't work properly. In other words, Doc Brown literally could not exist without *that specific Marty,* so his existence is sustained on a universal level by necessity.
+Lance Pearce First, Doc Brown (the inventor of time travel in this universe) says distinctly within the second movie that time branches into 2 different realities when Biff went back and changed shit. This means that there isn't just one reality that changes, otherwise Doc Brown and Marty would have just changed along with the 2015 future without ever knowing since they would then be affected by the changes of time.
in 2023, you hear a phrase like "i'd kill an army of marty's" and then you look over at Rick and Morty, and you start to realize how deep the rabbit hole goes. We knew rick and morty where based on doc brown and Marty, but i wonder if the currated timeline theory they discuss here influenced the rick and morty showrunners as well.
Im so glad you guys havent dropped After Hours, yet. I know there has been mention of the excruciating time, effort, and fact checking that goes into them, but good on ya for keeping with it! After Hours is the best!
My personal theory: Marty is actually Doc Brown's son who was planned to be raised by the McFly's. Marty's existence that was in peril in BTTF1 was that version of him shifting into a different existence entirely since his adopted parents would have never met. It would explain why Marty is the same in all versions and why Doc Brown has such a keen interest in Marty's life.
+Marius Periwinkle I agree too. I'm usually pretty on or off on my opinion of Kate is hawd or not.... but with this hair style the switch is definitely pointing hawd!
XenonSpark I don't think you are really getting the point. it doesn't have to have anything to do with time travel, just different time lines... Rick and Morty's current universe is not their original universe. Also Rick and Morty are basically parodies of Doc and Marty
wait, I was always under the impression that when the timeline shifts in back to the future the characters all simply change to become the new products of their past, and that because Marty was "outside of time" when the shift happened, he was able to observe the differences while no-one else could. like how the concept of 5th dimensional travel would work. and if that's the case then he wouldn't be "replacing" another marty nessisarily, he could just represent the consciousness of the marty from the original timeline but in the body of the one from the new timeline
I remember reading an RPG game book that used multiverse travel as a plotting element, and one of the traits you could give your character is "Temporally Likely", meaning that more often than not, a different universe/timeline will still have a version of your character. Marty is just a temporally likely event.
I think you're overthinking it. Also, how about an After Hours video where you explore all the Stephen King cliches or some conspiracy theory about King's work?
+Rami Ungar Um, that's kind of what they're supposed to do? Also, why would you tell them that they're over thinking one thing, but then tell them to go over think another?
Daniel forgot about the ending of Back To The Future III. In that scene, Marty was going over everything that happened to him and Doc Brown with Jennifer. Doc then appears in a time traveling locomotive 🚂. Jennifer then shows Doc the note that she brought with her from the future that vanished and Doc was like, "Of course it vanished! It means your future isn't written yet!" So, what they experienced in that version of 2015 is just 1 out of an infinite number of possibilities that could occur.
Oh my God, thank you Dan! Thank you for raising the "right sperm at the right time" point! I was worried no one would ever catch onto that! Though, ovulation releases what, 1 egg at a time on average? 2 tops? Eggs are one less worry when it comes to getting the exact same person from an altered timeline. It's only the sperm you need to watch out for
Hello from 8 years in the future of this timeline....you still don't have self driving cars...they may exist but no one has one and also GPS is less reliable now.
+Joseph Mark Switzer After 3 do you really want another, and I'm just sad it didn't start of raining today and then get sunny this afternoon like it did in the film.
Like your vids but No though. There is only one single timeline in the BTTF Universe with a single Marty. Whenever a new one is created, the other one gets deleted. Meaning the universe that Marty is in at the end of the film, is actually a different one. The world that he's from is gone but since he is the catalyst of this change, only he remains untouched by the change hence remembering the other timeline but he has no knowledge of the one he's in now. It's the point when Marty travels to the past that is pivotal. Every Marty exists up until that point and converges into one single universe but If Marty were to die in the past or the future, Marty would cease to exist in every timeline from the point in which he first traveled through time.
+Theg Reenman *cough* what the fuck did you think Rick and Morty was based off, did you think it was some kind of original idea with ridiculously coincidental similarities to Back To The Future?
a bigger plot hole is WHEN Marty returns to Doc Brown at the END od part 2, BECAUSE Doc FAINTS, making it for HIM IMPOSSIBLE to piece back together the LETTER Marty wrote in PART 1, to protect him from the Lybians ... THUSLLY causing a PARADOX, melting the universe and making it DISAPPEAR!!! xD hahahaha WHY? Well, when Doc faints, he is brought back home by Marty, than he wakes up in the morning, finding Marty BACK in the past, STARTING a new timeline for the OG 1985, deleting the fact of the life rescuing LETTER, which was in the trash and was probably taking away by the trash man the next day, EASRAING the possibility for Doc Brown to know about the Lybians, and THUSLLY dying at the end of part 1, preventing part 2 and 3 from EVER happening! :D
Six years later and I'm still annoyed that Michael says nosegrind when the animation clearly shows either a boardslide or a lipslide depending on how Bill Clinton popped into it.
you realize that the fact Soren brought up "so i guess its no coincidence then that he only gets to experience his new life before doc brow whisks him off to some other conflict" means doc brown could have just planned for the Marty in that timeline/universe to be away for a day or less even....
Rhys Chidlow But our Marty ends up there at the end of the trilogy, and unless Doc turns up again seconds after he leaves on the train, our Marty seems to stay there.
Great show!! Two things I noticed during the marathons on tv over the last couple months. One, when watchen back to back Doc's ear bud changes from what a Bluetooth actually looks like now at the end of one to what a headset looked like in the 90s. Second, why are Marty's brother and sister still living at home?? And what time do they all go to work??
2:27 I'm sorry Sorren. Did you just say, "The 19 *50* 's version of Tony Hawk"? The boy was born in '68 *Maybe* he meant the Tony Hawk from the timeline that *emerged* from the 50's one Marty meddled with?
Alley Oop has its origin as a comic strip in 1932. It was also a song from 1954. And a skateboarding trick since 1978. I'm constantly amazed by how confident Katie is stating things that she actually does not know.
I think Swaim's character is just a *little* too clueless in this episode, but still, there's never a bad After Hours! Keep 'em coming! It is, by far, the best series on Cracked!
But in the end of Back to the future the "local" Marty already went back in time, leaving a spot for our Marty to take his place. If time is linial, and Marty always travels back, there will be always space for a coming back Marty if he is gone once he arrives.
Yeah I was just thinking this is where they got the idea for that show. The timeline certainly fits when you consider it would've taken them 2-3 years to cast/write/animate/develop the first season.
I have been watching these for a while. Love em. If you could pump these out weekly. I would follow more religiously. I tend to go back and search for them every 6 months. Also if I can suggest maybe a crossover with the =3 folk. Kind of the marvel vs DC comics in comedy. I think people would go sick if someone like Robby Motts would appear as an intrusive waiter / stalker / other. I love the dynamic between you guys. I laugh at least once a show. Again though. Would love more of it.
ACTUALLY in the Anniversary edition of Back To The Future, it explains that all of the new devices cause an atomic fallout, so Doc goes back and prevents them from ever happening.
I had always assumed since Marty had traveled through time, he was eternally the version of himself that he was after he altered his parents story, since that is ultimately what happened. That is why he didn't fit it the alternate timeline before he altered anything. He exists outside of time. What I want to know is how in Back to the Future 2 the old Biff was able to go into the past and alter it and somehow get back to the iteration of the future he was in before he altered it to leave the time machine back with Doc and Marty. Doc makes it clear that they are unable to do that when they find Biff as a superpower in that timeline, why was Biff able to?! Would he not go to the future of the new timeline he created?
Speaking as a musician, I wouldn't consider Marty's version of Johnny B. Goode to be shitty. Aside from the very end where he gets carried away and the band loses him, he's killin' it. because if mr fusion existed the creator would be found hanging and the prototype would be missing to keep up demand in oil

+Chris Fernandes (buuurp)
+Chris Fernandes Considering the origins of Rick and Morty are Doc and Marty...that's not really so shocking.
+Chris Fernandes Yeah... this one was pretty flat.
Doc and Marty
Or the time machine is paradox-correcting and it's the same Marty with no memories of the new timeline because that would cause a paradox.
I always liked the idea that Marty's sudden aversion to being called chicken was because his childhood was retroactively changed.
Cool theory, but he has no memory of the life of the new timeline Marty so sadly it doesn't make sense.

wait, I was always under the impression that when the timeline shifts in back to the future the characters all simply change to become the new products of their past, and that because Marty was "outside of time" when the shift happened, he was able to observe the differences while no-one else could. like how the concept of 5th dimensional travel would work. and if that's the case then he wouldn't be "replacing" another marty nessisarily, he could just represent the consciousness of the marty from the original timeline but in the body of the one from the new timeline
Did u guys inspire the rick and morty plot for season 1?
so doc brown is basically a sober version of Rick Sanchez...who is a drunk version of Doc Brown
Hey your eating the same pizza
Like the one that gets bigger
In the movie
+David Lovo yes, they are
+David Lovo except if you listen during the credits, they don't eat the food.
Good question. Time to go meditate on it.
+Rami Ungar They over think everything, that's what makes it so funny.
+Rami Ungar you must be new to this channel. the whole point of after hours is to overthink on the movies etc.
+Rami Ungar Yeah! After Hours Stephen King! Also, this episode seemed a little weaker than usual. Or maybe, I am just a spoiled jerk who hates movies
It's only the sperm you need to watch out for
Hello from 8 years in the future of this timeline....you still don't have self driving cars...they may exist but no one has one and also GPS is less reliable now.
but frankly I'm more disappointed that there was no "Jaws 17".
+Joseph Mark Switzer After 3 do you really want another, and I'm just sad it didn't start of raining today and then get sunny this afternoon like it did in the film.
+Joseph Mark Switzer We got Sharknado. That's more than 17 sharks
+Joseph Mark Switzer
We have "Jurassic Shark". What more could you want?
4grammaton Well in Jurassic world we do get to see a shark.
+Laura Wanco 4. Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3D, Jaws: The Revenge.
This was absolutely BRILLIANT!!
I may be a couple years late to the party but glad I found it!
their pizza looks delicious
+Christopher Doxtator somebody got fat
+OLE SammyOLE lol
+Christopher Doxtator *Atrocious.
+Cracked Alley-Oop is also a skateboard/in-line skate/snowboarding term
The name of the App Michael mentioned is called "Prosti-pie" (for sending pizzas to your prostitutes)
I love Cracked and your constant dissection of the Back to the Future series =D
So Doc Brown is Hugh Jackman in The Prestige?
Welcome back guys. I missed you.
HotnessGaming yeppp. Quantum coherence
0:18 did Michael just sign same between him and Dan?
"Cough" ... Rick and Morty...
_burp_
+Theg Reenman *cough* what the fuck did you think Rick and Morty was based off, did you think it was some kind of original idea with ridiculously coincidental similarities to Back To The Future?
I'm pretty sure that Theg was just cough-alluding to the multiple Marty/Morty portion of discussion.
+JulianimeIsAmazing I was referring to the secret behind the episode close Rick counters of the Rick kind.
I love these videos. They are close to my favorite UA-cam things. Why are there not more of them?
a bigger plot hole is WHEN Marty returns to Doc Brown at the END od part 2, BECAUSE Doc FAINTS, making it for HIM IMPOSSIBLE to piece back together the LETTER Marty wrote in PART 1, to protect him from the Lybians ... THUSLLY causing a PARADOX, melting the universe and making it DISAPPEAR!!! xD hahahaha
WHY? Well, when Doc faints, he is brought back home by Marty, than he wakes up in the morning, finding Marty BACK in the past, STARTING a new timeline for the OG 1985, deleting the fact of the life rescuing LETTER, which was in the trash and was probably taking away by the trash man the next day, EASRAING the possibility for Doc Brown to know about the Lybians, and THUSLLY dying at the end of part 1, preventing part 2 and 3 from EVER happening! :D
Holy crap you're right, nice screw up writers
+Tim Jakub Great Scott, your right.
+Tim Jakub Or, you know, when he woke up he decided to get the letter out of the bin
Klerik AU
I believe that they had NO time to pick the letter out of the bin :)
+Tim Jakub Maybe it wasn't trash day that day.
Yey new after hours! Love you guys
Why _isn't_ there an app for prostitutes? That really seems like something that should've been made by now.
+stryk187 there is
+Nazar Not in Nevada...
***** dark apps. Pristitutes, drugs, guns, children. I've never used any but they do exsist.
***** the silk road app takes 1 tap to buy something, so it is under your 3 click rule.
Do you not know what a dark app is?
***** clearnet nub, go play with your megablocks and get out of grown up conversations.
Six years later and I'm still annoyed that Michael says nosegrind when the animation clearly shows either a boardslide or a lipslide depending on how Bill Clinton popped into it.
Oh thank god. Another After Hours! And posted on the perfect day. Great Scott!
you realize that the fact Soren brought up "so i guess its no coincidence then that he only gets to experience his new life before doc brow whisks him off to some other conflict"
means doc brown could have just planned for the Marty in that timeline/universe to be away for a day or less even....
Rhys Chidlow
But our Marty ends up there at the end of the trilogy, and unless Doc turns up again seconds after he leaves on the train, our Marty seems to stay there.
Loving the Back to the Future videos everywhere!!! Honest Trailers next!!!!😝
Thanks for the birthday gift Cracked!
i was actuallly dying inside without these vids please stop toying with my emotions. cracked after hours and make more vids.
I miss this show
This made me so happy. I love After Hours. ^^ Thanks guys!
AW, brief mention to throwback After Hours
Yaaaas everyone's favorite type of sketch! After hours!
After hours is just a series filled with existential dread thanks cracked
2:27 I'm sorry Sorren. Did you just say, "The 19 *50* 's version of Tony Hawk"? The boy was born in '68
*Maybe* he meant the Tony Hawk from the timeline that *emerged* from the 50's one Marty meddled with?
6:55 Cody in the bottom right drawin a portrait of coronavirus.
We waited so long for After Hours and THIS...This is the episode you give us..
Bring them back!!
There was a perfect spot for a "One True Morty" Rick and Morty reference
Alley Oop has its origin as a comic strip in 1932. It was also a song from 1954. And a skateboarding trick since 1978. I'm constantly amazed by how confident Katie is stating things that she actually does not know.
Yall need to make more of these awesome vids.
I would love to see a behind the scenes of after hours with writing and behind the camera set ups and more bloopers
I think Swaim's character is just a *little* too clueless in this episode, but still, there's never a bad After Hours! Keep 'em coming! It is, by far, the best series on Cracked!
You guys are basically describing Rick and Morty and I love it.
Well it's about time. Started watching this channel because of these.
Omg...Please bring after hours back!!!! I don't ask for much in life.
But in the end of Back to the future the "local" Marty already went back in time, leaving a spot for our Marty to take his place.
If time is linial, and Marty always travels back, there will be always space for a coming back Marty if he is gone once he arrives.
So, this is where Rick and Morty started. Cool/.
The reality they're describing sounds very Rick and Morty-y. I love it!
...
...
Rick and Morty. It's Rick and Morty.
Beautiful video, I am pleased. Also, did he get to eat that pepper?
Alley Oop is also used in skateboarding, it refers to an aerial rotation that's direction opposes the general direction of travel.
that little moment when Daniel drops the pun, priceless
loving how they make me feel old immediately
