We did this drill in high school. One of the more fun drills but an absolute cardio gut check when you're the guy going for the tackling dummy. Good times.
In HS we had a kid miss a SAT practice during two-a-days (only one practice on SAT). Coach called for Burma Road. The entire team lined up in a row, five yards apart. The kid, a senior, had to go through the entire team to complete his punishment. Being a sophomore I was toward the back of the line. I don't know how many he made it through, but I knew it was over when I saw a helmet soaring across the sky.
I remember watching the high school practice when I was in 6th grade, probably around 1972 and they would stand 15 yards from each other, just the runner and the defensive guy, full speed. When I played in 78 spearing was encouraged, like I say, we weren't really warmed up until we had a mild concussion. I must say the games have changed and the athletes are faster and stronger and I am glad they are protecting them but I sure miss the old head hunting days.
Football in 70’s and early 80’s was just like nothing man. Speed zero, mobility zero. Just hitting inside of 5 meter eachother but after 85 and beetweend about 2000 was the best when the games getting be faster. 2000-2015 totally the best NFL era but College is still the same best NFL can suck me out. Lier motherfckrs….
Lol same here I play at Phoenix and it's like 95 ferret height here but we can't take off our helmets because coach said we have to keep them on because we might be told to play and if our straps are off we will spend a lot of time putting them on... The thing is if we get caught with our helmets off, the whole team either as to do bear crawls or 4 corners non stop...

And the coaches wouldn’t let you quit back in the day. Even if you were terrified of this drill (like I was), you weren’t getting out of it and you definitely weren’t quitting the team. At least I learned that skill which helped me in life.

These type of drills (commonly known as 'Oklahoma Drill') used to be a common part of practice at every level of football from pee-wee to the pros for decades. It's scarcely used anymore and the NFL banned teams from running the Oklahoma Drill in 2019.
We used to call it the sack drill! Not allowed to do it in highschool anymore. I knocked a guys helmet off in that drill, but i think i lost some brain cells too. Lol
in our high school team we used it as for the qbs and when we go against a scout offense there's several players who wear them to point out the star players positioning

this drill looks like it is just asking for concussions
lilfunny1234 man lsu cray cray
lilfunny1234 I play ball and I'll tell you that's true
lilfunny1234 learn to properly hit and you won't get a concussion, it's not asking for one only if you're shit at hitting in general

Your hitting with your face mask all it is is a hat and hands drill
