That's great if you have one located within 20 miles of your town. That option isn't available to most people . Its either chain pizza restaurant or frozen
dominos back in the early days was decent pizza as i remember as a kid. then they changed the crust. so did many other brands. all about cheaper ingredients.
golfmaniac007 dominos used to be a good pizza until now. It’s $5.99 for 2 toppings mix or match but it doesn’t taste that good unless you’re super hungry
It's been a long time since I've had it, but every time I've had Domino's, it had the lowest quality crust of any Pizza chain I can think of. It's somewhere between flavorless and just bad, so they just douse it in seasonings and garlic butter-flavored oil. Their dough is so bad they need cornmeal to get any sort of texture to the bottom of the crust. Costco's redeeming qualities are that it isn't difficult to eat, it's huge, they get some maillard reactions on the cheese if that's your thing, and you can actually taste all the ingredients. There's nothing offensive about it, but for many people, it isn't their style of pizza, and not really an exceptional eating experience. It's definitely the type of thing that would be a lot more popular with kids though.
I only know of one Straw Hat Pizza in Cerritos CA. I now live in NV., so I miss Straw Hat Pizza. Shakeys Pizza was also good and fun back in the day. Pizza Man He Delivers, is long gone. Lamppost Pizza?
That is so ironic because when Pizza Hut was restaurant style their pizza was the shit. Now it is garbage! Very few good pizzerias left. I notice when pizza places uses better ingredients the pizza tastes hella good.
I think it's still active in Middle East. My family preferred it over the shitty Pizza Hut and dry Domino's and I really loved their "buffet" salad. However last time I was there, a new local chain was dominating the other bigger chains like Domino's with their special offers.
Springfield, MO 2 Pizza Inn locations closed in last few years, used to have a Marco's, 2 Bourdoux Pizza, a Mazzio's Pizza, Sbarro, 1 Cici's closed few years ago, and a Jet's Pizza closed about a year ago.
When your pizza isn’t good and have to compete with mom and pop pizzerias you will loose business . Pizza Hut would rather skimp on sauce and cheese to save money . If places like Pizza Hut put lots of quality sauce and cheese on their pizza, like small business pizzerias do they wouldn’t be having problems .
Man that the prblm with these big boys they're lot of other cost to keep up in market like advertisement if they don't put it they lose business with other big ones and putting it result higher cost therefore price to keep up with local pizzeria therefore profit margin is reduced and if they don't find a way out then this happen. And local pizzeria are awesome it's at those where I meet friendlier staff and amazing food. Can find a good friend too.
Not true, you can makes lots of money quickly, but when things turn, you can lose money just as quick. When you have multiple restaurants, having too many losing money can bring down the rest.

It wouldn't break my heart to see CiCis' pizza close its doors permanently. Their pizza is so bad, I believe they dig in the bottom of a dumpster, shovel whatever is stuck to the bottom onto a crust, cook it and serve it up as something edible. Their pizza sucks!
@corey Babcock The only people who like chain pizza simply aren't well exposed enough to good pizza. My parents are from NY, I was raised in Maryland. Once they started taking me into the city when I was about 10, and giving me real pizza, I can't eat the shit served at chain restaurants.
Ah...the shakey's shits. Used to work at a Shakey's. Pitcher of beer. Pizza. The best fried chicken in the world. And don't forget...mojos. Shakey's chicken. Marinated for two days. Fried in a pressure fryer. Really the best.
Real Dudes Party Nude Even food truck pizza is better because they’re always local. I went to Miami in October and had food truck pizza and some big street tacos that were better than anything from a chain restaurant.
Verrazano Pizza in Las Vegas was my absolute favorite pizza growing up there - which is something, since I have an aversion to most tomato sauces. Visited it more than 20 years later a few months ago, on a trip to visit relatives there, and was amazed and happy to see it still there (albeit in a new location). Pizza was just as good as ever!! I need to get back there soon...
I’m a New York resident and we have great ITALIAN pizza places almost every block. I have never had any franchise pizza. That’s probably why they don’t last here.
I think the bottom line is, none of these places are very good. At one time, The chuck e. Cheese in brookfield, WI had more police calls to it than any other business in the city. And there is a large mall and huge retail presence in the city. I'm kinda suprised the city keeps renewing it's operating license.
We have a pie five where I live. I remember my friend telling me it's basically the Subway of the pizza industry. And it sounded so cool. Everyone flocked to pi five to try it out. Only to realize the food is bland and over priced. Not exactly surprised it's closing down. portions are small, given the price.
Never cared much for Pizza Hut... then I went to Korea on vacation and had Pizza Hut there...for some reason it’s 100000x better than American Pizza Hut. The pizza and risotto was so good.
Nothing I've ever tasted at one of these pizza chain stores comes even close to NYC street pizza. The best pizza I've ever had in my life was from this run-down looking pizza joint right next to my high school in the Bronx run by a couple of Puerto Rican and Italian guys. Perfect tomato sauce, perfect cheese, perfect dough, and that pizza "juice" running down your fingers and hand. I used to love stretching out the cheese after that first bite, and the mozzarella cheese had this sharp, tangy taste infused with garlic and oregano. And those chili flakes!!
Shakeys pizza parlour was my favorite growing up in taste games atmosphere now its gone and that was in Texas all the 80's childhood parties were there but there pizza was the best huge stretchy cheese movie theater beer arcade. Showbiz pizza or Shakeys in the 80's no debate for me
Who would've thought that in a place like NY, where they've incredibly delicious and authentic pizzeria restaurants, that run of the mill pizza chains wouldn't survive? But seriously, once you've dined in a real pizzeria and eaten a real slice so hot that the cheese burns the roof of your mouth, but it's so amazingly great that you still go in for another bite, you can't go back to a lousy pizza chain. It would be like divorcing Ms. Universe to marry Snooki.
The CiCi's where I live is great. We've been going there for fifteen years. The only other CiCi's that I've been to was in a large city a few hours away, and it wasn't very good. I can't speak for all of them, but I would hate to see it leave my city.
one of my favorite pizzas in this area (knoxville tn) is called elidios...it's a small place that was once located in one of the local malls that is now all but on life support...the owner moved out years ago (if not decades) because the rent became too high and the lease agreement required that in adittion to the rent he also pay part of his sales... the pizza is excellent and has just the right amount of char that makes it so amazingly good...
This does not surprise me when the pizza I have had from the more popular chains, tastes far worse than any brand of frozen pizza from the grocery store
Two years later: My town has never had a California Pizza Kitchen or a Blaze Pizza, and Pie 5 closed less than a year after it opened. But after two years of pandemic, we still have *all* the other chains on this list.

Pizza Hut dine in restaurants have all but disappeared here in Australia. A few of the local delivery places have shrunk by nothing but a counter & kitchen.
1st reason i dont go to pizzahut anymore, cause they dont buy new stuff, so it seems they do not care, if you turn around the pizza, there are very black particles from the overused pans on the bottom of your pizza, do not eat those, i dont think you want to eat poison. the 2nd reason is, i was there and i ordered a thin crust pizza, italian like, what did they give me? a wooden board and it was not eatable, i am not kidding and when i asked if that was normal, the guy said, yea its absoloutly normal, i just thought to myself this is a case for gordon ramsay. the 3rd reason, once i ordered a pan pizza and what did i get? 1/3 of the pizza was burned on top, had no or little cheese, i did not enjoy it at all and i remember when the owner/manager told me once, ''they struggle'', yea.. no kidding, 0 quality and he is shocked when the resturant struggles, really they need to call gordon ramsay, what they are selling is disgustingly bad, im not talking about all pizza huts, but i wouldnt be suprised if that was the case in many other pizzahuts. greetings
Papa Johns seems like it’s getting its business back by targeting schools. Schools require a lot of food every day to feed a bunch of kids obviously, and since the school is paying for this I’m sure it’s big bank for them. At my highschool they used to buy Pizza Hut but it looks like now they’ve switched to the cheaper Papa Johns, and I’m sure this isn’t mere coincidence.

The total cost to make one of those pizza's is close to a $1, so there is definitely profit to be made. Not to mention, they've cut out alot of delivery services here in Michigan (Where Little Ceasers was born) due to people preferring the grab and go style of the Hot n Ready. On top of that, Todd Messer got up in arms because of him being denied access by trying to change the way Little Ceasers was presenting itself. Try not to spread misinformation.

I worked for one last year and the reason why they are not doing as well as they were is ingredients are not as good as they were in the early nineties and the one I worked at didn't clean the pans the pizza went in .
Sad to hear but not unexpected. To keep costs down the majority of food franchises have lowered quality across the board in the name of keeping costs lower and profits. We don’t eat out much so personally I’m willing to pay more for quality service. And I don’t care where it is.
Papa Johns deserves to go out of business. They changed their sauce in the late 90's from the original, delicious savory sauce to a cheaper, sweeter, disgusting sauce. I'm surprised Papa Johns has survived as long as it has with that gross sauce they are using.
it may be pack but is it making enough money for the troubles? doing mass production for small sliver profit margin is not good business model. how much profit can be in a $5 large pizza?
@Make America Great Again - DUMP TRUMP! I meant in terms of ownership and employment. I was responding to a post that seemed to be making the point that chains employ local people, while M&Ps do not. Which doesn't make sense.
Pizza Hut has always left a bad taste in my mouth - and I mean that literally. I don't know who came up with their recipe but they must have been on drugs. Anybody can make a better pizza than Pizza Hut.
One other thing...Although not a national chain, the Delaware based pizza parlors known as Grotto's Pizza (often found at your mid-Atlantic beach site resorts).... is the best. Some of their secret is to prepare a NY Brooklyn style crust (not thick, not too thin) with a well seasoned olive oil based sweeter roma tomato sauce with classic mozzarella cheese infused with an ample amount of medium aged (Wisconsin Cheddar, I believe) yellow cheddar cheese. The cheese layer has to be thick enough to cover each bite while allowing the sweeter tomato sauce to come thru and compliment the toppings.
My local Papa Murphy's closed and it broke my heart. I'd often order a pizza when I got off work, and by the time I was out of the shower my pizza would be ready.

Little Caesars and CiCis here in my town are the busiests and business is great for them. Their $5 deals are the reasons why they are popular here. Pizza Hut and Papa John's are struggling. Pizza Inn and Mazzios have closed like 20 years ago. We do not have many pizza joints like other areas. If all four closed down? Russellville, Arkansas will have no pizza places left.
I see one person commented about Shakey’s Pizza. Shakey’s is one of those places and tastes one remembers as the best ever, never to be repeated. Even my two sons remember Shakey’s fondly and they were very young at the time. That was in Scottsbluff NE 45 years ago. We actually think of it occasionally and comment on how good it was. My youngest son says there is at least one left somewhere in California.

Seriously! Wood fired Neapolitan pies are BAE!!!
@@lindaeasley4336 Most places have a local place outside of the chain place. They just may not want to pay the extra money the local place may charge.

That scene where Walter white throws the pizza and it lands perfectly on the roof was by complete accident
Round table pizza was the bomb back in the 90’s
Dominos and Costco pizza are wrecking the others
dominos back in the early days was decent pizza as i remember as a kid. then they changed the crust. so did many other brands. all about cheaper ingredients.
@Real Dudes Party Nude costco pizza is very good
Real Dudes Party Nude I’ve had Sam’s Club pizza. Great big pizza. And it’s really good as I eat it while I go shopping for my foodstuffs.
golfmaniac007 dominos used to be a good pizza until now.
Like Papa Johns. In my home state, they are doing pretty well.
I miss pizza inn. It closed in my hometown in the mid 2000's and never came back.
They use olive oil which is important. Basilnis 2nd for me.
Subway is the only sub shop. The meatball.onevwas good then they put more filler in the Mt bl,s.
The problem with a lot of these franchises isn't that they aren't profitable. It's that they aren't obscenely profitable.
Not true, you can makes lots of money quickly, but when things turn, you can lose money just as quick. When you have multiple restaurants, having too many losing money can bring down the rest.
“If you’ve been in Texas you have probably been to a birthday party at mr.gatti’s pizzeria”
Me who’s been born and raised in Texas for 18 years:*what the FUCK is a gatti*
The best pizza I ever had in my life was homemade.
Leslie Trotter same
Right, I go to stores and buy all the ingredients or cook it from scratch
right some of the best pizza i made was using naan bread and store bought cheese and sauce. but don't get the cheapest cheese and sauce many of these sauces a laden with extra sugar.
Leslie Trotter That's the way to go. You get to control the ingredients.
The best pizza I ever had in my life was from Pizza Hut.
But, that was 3 decades ago, back when they made excellent pizza.
It wouldn't break my heart to see CiCis' pizza close its doors permanently. Their pizza is so bad, I believe they dig in the bottom of a dumpster, shovel whatever is stuck to the bottom onto a crust, cook it and serve it up as something edible. Their pizza sucks!
My main complaint about CiCi's is the fact that it comes across as Chuck E. Cheese's with more pizza options.
@corey Babcock The only people who like chain pizza simply aren't well exposed enough to good pizza. My parents are from NY, I was raised in Maryland. Once they started taking me into the city when I was about 10, and giving me real pizza, I can't eat the shit served at chain restaurants.
Cici's pizza is the bomb. I literally drive 40 minutes to go to the closest location. I love their buffet. And it's so friggin cheap.
There used to be two Godfather’s Pizza restaurants in my city, then they closed. That was some good pizza.
I have to drive over an hour away now.
What's sad about it? Let's some light shine on the local pizza joints for once.
Pizza Chains: *steadily disappearing*
Covid19: "I've gotchyu fam"
I miss Shakey's pizza. In Knoxville, Tennessee.
Ah...the shakey's shits.
Used to work at a Shakey's.
Pitcher of beer. Pizza. The best fried chicken in the world.
And don't forget...mojos.
Shakey's chicken. Marinated for two days. Fried in a pressure fryer.
Really the best.
Yes, I miss the Shakey's in the Dallas area. We used to get pitchers of Schlitz dark beer.
Real Dudes Party Nude Even food truck pizza is better because they’re always local. I went to Miami in October and had food truck pizza and some big street tacos that were better than anything from a chain restaurant.
Shakey's is going strong in the Philippines. The pizza is quite good.
Shakey's pizza in Charlotte NC in the 1970's used to play Little Rascal films and had 2 old men that played a piano and a banjo between films.
Local pizza shops are always better then these chains so im not losing anything if these chains go out of business
@Making America Great Again - TRUMP'S DUMPED! - Well there are people who put things like pineapple or cream cheese on bread and call them pizza.
Come to Pizza Inn in Sikeston, Mo. 😁 I work there lol
I’m in Spokane and we still hit the Little Cesar’s on Division. The k-Mart one was doing fine but couldn’t stay there after K-Mart closed.
Yeah man Pie Five blows like humpback whale.
I don't know about your cooking but I like this video it says a lot more than just what you do about Fame you're a good teacher
Good. Small chains and individual stores are far better in quality and far better for the communities they're in.
Never cared much for Pizza Hut... then I went to Korea on vacation and had Pizza Hut there...for some reason it’s 100000x better than American Pizza Hut. The pizza and risotto was so good.
Pizza Hut in the US in the 1970's-1980's was excellent.
Because foreign countries actually have standards on their food. You should try going to like McDonalds in germany vs the US.
Pizza school in Korea had terrific pizzas.
Excellent synopsis.
The CiCi's where I live is great. We've been going there for fifteen years. The only other CiCi's that I've been to was in a large city a few hours away, and it wasn't very good. I can't speak for all of them, but I would hate to see it leave my city.
I live in Spokane. Kmart's Little Caesars was a good place to hang out! Now it's taken by U-haul....😢 #RIP #MissYou! So sorry you had to go!
one of my favorite pizzas in this area (knoxville tn) is called elidios...it's a small place that was once located in one of the local malls that is now all but on life support...the owner moved out years ago (if not decades) because the rent became too high and the lease agreement required that in adittion to the rent he also pay part of his sales... the pizza is excellent and has just the right amount of char that makes it so amazingly good...
This does not surprise me when the pizza I have had from the more popular chains, tastes far worse than any brand of frozen pizza from the grocery store
Yeah also Pizza hut sucks
You mean like tostitos and microwave heated? Hahaha good one
Two years later:
My town has never had a California Pizza Kitchen or a Blaze Pizza, and Pie 5 closed less than a year after it opened.
But after two years of pandemic, we still have *all* the other chains on this list.
Dominos has actually increased sales over the last 5 years and is now the #1 pizza chain in the nation.
Weird she didn’t mention that.
kwame DontDance
Yeah I remember that. Well, it goes to show how hard Domino’s has been working on its PR. Plus they used to have the worst quality, now it’s almost as good as a local mom and pop.
So basically any pizza place that’s no Domino’s.
which is funny, considering that Domino's had been around since the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they even were featured in the first movie, before the turtles had to change neighborhoods.
@@UltimateGamerCC its funny because if these people were smart you copy the successful competition, and they're all but avoiding that and trying to add something new or edgy that no one wants or cares for, Dominoes is killing the game right now due to all these other companies fucking up, when all they have todo is copy Dominoes
Pizza Hut dine in restaurants have all but disappeared here in Australia. A few of the local delivery places have shrunk by nothing but a counter & kitchen.
I miss Godfather's Pizza. It was a company started by Herman Cain. It closed in the early 90's.
Have one in colorado.
That was the best pizza joint around IMO. I sorely miss it too.
I loved Godfather’s Pizza. I was sorry when they closed.
Blame Hermain Cain he shouldn't had ran for president

@@Sammstar420 Yeah, it's amazing.
Wordddd. Guess I gotta try it now. Lmao it better be or I will totally come back here and cuss you out haha
I juuuuust discovered Marcos and started going there last year. Their pizza bowls are AMAZING!!!
1/3 of the pizza was burned on top, had no or little cheese, i did not enjoy it at all and i remember when the owner/manager told me once, ''they struggle'', yea.. no kidding, 0 quality and he is shocked when the resturant struggles, really they need to call gordon ramsay, what they are selling is disgustingly bad, im not talking about all pizza huts, but i wouldnt be suprised if that was the case in many other pizzahuts.
greetings

Papa John's day of reckoning has arrived.
papa johns revenue increased last 2-3 quarters
@@andrewevans5750 That's not what his day of reckoning is about
Papa Johns seems like it’s getting its business back by targeting schools.
Never liked their pizza
OMG!!🤣🤣😂 HaHa!! DEADasssss. Best Comment Ever
We had a Mr. Gatti's in our town back when i was a kid, but they closed their doors in sometime around 1987. I haven't heard a peep from them since, I'm surprised that they lasted until 2019.
Marco's pizza is bomb. Also Adriatico's is the best pizza I've ever eaten.

Well, with local stores doing uber eats, doordash and people just making their own pizzas at home, I'm not surprised.
again just like mom and pop pizza joints, uber eats and the like are good if you can afford the pricey pizza with the costly delivery charge.
@@UltimateGamerCC which it seems like enough people can since these places are going out of business.
@@nicholaslewis279 idk about that, in any case it seems pretty suspect that nearly all pizza chains were mentioned other than Domino's Pizza, this video is likely just speculation and little more, much like the news.
Mother has worked for Little Ceasers for 32 years, was good friends with Mike Ilitch. The brand isn't really struggling at all and $5 Hot n Ready's aren't $5 anymore due to inflation.
I prefer local pizza shops honestly. Only buy from Domino’s when they are having their sales, little Caesers when in a hurry

There's one Myrtle Beach, SC.
@Mint Visto Are they any good? Because I remember it as the best in town. We always ate in food/service/cleanliness were five star in our book.
Two in KC area one of Wich is at 126 and Antioch Rd in overland Park KS. We used to have eight of em around .
Every time I walk into a little caesars it’s freakin packed

not the best pizza, but it's the cheapest and you dont have to risk being sick over, those $5 Hot n Ready Pizzas sell like IHOP pancakes.
it may be pack but is it making enough money for the troubles? doing mass production for small sliver profit margin is not good business model. how much profit can be in a $5 large pizza?
In many places due to the price of labor and supplies, $5 pizzas are sold at a loss. That's the point of the video.

okay but the video of Papa Murphys they showed is the location in my town 😭😭😭 i was like why does this look so damn familiar
When chains close, doesn't that mean the Mom and Pops can thrive? Why is that a bad thing?
@Hmong Smithy So it's the same?
@Make America Great Again - DUMP TRUMP! I meant in terms of ownership and employment. I was responding to a post that seemed to be making the point that chains employ local people, while M&Ps do not. Which doesn't make sense.
Pizza Hut has always left a bad taste in my mouth - and I mean that literally. I don't know who came up with their recipe but they must have been on drugs. Anybody can make a better pizza than Pizza Hut.
Pizza Hut was ridiculously good, about 30 years ago.
It’s the FROZEN pre made pizza.
I believe it's the bit of high fructose corn syrup in their pizza sauce.
Good grief this video may as well have been titled "Every Pizza Chain Across The Country Except Dominos is Disappearing" because they basically listed everyone else. 😅
Lol. The only 2 of these I have are Pizza Hut and Papa Johns. We used to have Cici's like 10 years ago and then it closed. Other than that the only other place I’ve ever ate on here is I think I ate Marco's last weekend out of town. By the way we also have Dominos but that wasn’t on here. We also have a handful of other smaller pizza joints so we have pizza.
