Imagine having a job where you are in a constant state of heightened awareness, never knowing how the day will end, not knowing what each hour will bring you, being slandered by the people you are asked to protect, and de-balled by cultural movements. All while being held to an humanly impossible standard.. I couldn’t do it.
Only thing i dont like about this video. Not only did the deputy let the suspect get way to close him. He also basically cornered himself between his door and the cruiser. He had no options to retreat if he needed to. He was smart to immediately draw his weapon and give the suspect commands at gunpoint. The suspect could have very easily closed that gap in a split second. There was a recent incident from New Mexico. Where an officer lost his life, because a suspect charged at him and attacked him with a knife. The suspect was within 10ft or so of the officer. So a similar distance as the suspect in this video. The officer attempted to back pedal and draw his weapon, but he lost his foot and fell on his back. By that time, the suspect was already landing his first knife swing on the officer. The rest of the BWC is horrifying to watch and listen to. An armed citizen actually saw what happened and shot the suspect dead on scene. He then attempted to give medical aid to save the officers life, but unfortunately was unsuccessful. All this to say. This situation could have had a drastically different outcome. Had the deputy hesitated for even a moment in drawing his weapon.
Glad no officers were injured . Outstanding job by the Riverside Sheriff's Department. Thank you Sheriff Bianco for sharing with the community as you always do . Chad Bianco for California Governor 👍🇺🇲
I usually don't side against the police, but I do not think he needed to shoot at that moment. My first reaction was, he is taking the knife out to disarm himself. He did not seem agitated or threatening to the deputes. But, it only matters how the deputy felt. Right or wrong, he was the one out there and acted to ensure his safety and that of his partners. Might need a little more training escalation of force.
Huge thanks to the riverside county sheriff's department for protecting our community

If you were to shoot a stranger for brandishing a knife. You would be arrested for attempted homicide.
Chad Bianco for governor!!!!!!
Thanks for doing such a good job to all the sheriffs in our county
Thank you Sheriff Bianco and RSO. 🇺🇸🦅
Chad For Gov
Right on CHAD. A REAL sheriff faces the public himself, and not hide behind some PR officer.
Brave deputies, clown for a sheriff. 🤡
