KVW's OVERDUE REVIEW! SEIKO SRPK17 4R36-13S0 SPORT DIVER REISSUE

- This time it's a new watch, so that's fun. I got one of the new Limited Edition (15,555 units) recreations of Seiko's first 70m sport diver, the Suwa 6119- The good, the bad, the ugly (if any) as I see it. Comparisons between an original and this new one. Dial, hands, casework, lume, hand profiles. Also I clean a rust-damaged 70m sweep, so you get to see my lume cleaning in progress. A lot of looking over the bracelet in terms of fit and flex, finishing, and fidelity. I find the closest originals I can find, and we do a side-by-side.
I do have a numbers-only video up as well.
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, usually none. We have zero script, no planning, basic editing, etc. Same for the sound - if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

Yours is the only review that shows the original side-by-side. Well done!
That is surprising honestly.
best seiko 5 release they have done this year so far👍
China version only available in my area. May I know if there is any difference in quality when it compare with Japan or Europe version.
@AMN342 boo quality difference, just the dial showing made in Japan, very difficult to get a jdm version, from memory 1500 jdm units? easier to get the global version
@@SeikoLeaks
Thank you for the reply.
you mean the chinese version is the global version?
@AMN342 I think so yes
I have and love this watch. But I didn’t realize how much they nailed the look compared to the original until watching this video.
Glad to see your input on these. I love mine even with the few short-comings.
Real gentleman’s watch thanks for posting much appreciated
You bet
It’s such a cool watch. I love mine and it always puts a smile on my face when I wear it. The smiles per $ is very high for this watch.
Limited to 1500 and Seiko Australia sold out really quickly. Luckily I got mine and I’m very pleased with it, beautiful watch. Glad to hear your input.
15555 units; some sort of reference to Seiko 5.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch i somehow got #555! Stoked.
I’ve been looking forward to Spencers take on this one.
Interesting some international versions seem to be missing the “MADE IN JAPAN” printed between 6 and 7, but not this one.
I really like it, and was stoked to be able to get a low number kanji version.
My 4R’s are more accurate than any 6R I have checked, this one is no different at +3.
For a newer enthusiast, it is a nice way to get some Seiko nostalgia with modern upgrades.
The K1s are not made in Japan
@@nunchaks700 yes, I agree, mine does not have the K1 designation anywhere on any of the box or paperwork, is not a Kanji but is a below 1500 limited number and does have the Made In Japan printing between the 6 and 7 on the dial, like the JDM version, and it was from an American AD, so there are a bunch of low limited edition numbers, non kanji versions out there with the printing on the dial and caseback. According to my AD, these are fact Made In Japan.
I have minimal complaints about this release. Especially when you consider the pricing of this watch. The movement is quite accurate. I've been impressed. It bodes well. I think we'll see a Pogue next year. Feels like Seiko are building up to it. If Seiko play their cards right it would be THE release of 2024. Could it possibly be that Seiko are finally listening to the community?
I wish I had bought one of these but I had just purchased a Seiko SPB121 Alpinist as the watch I wore for our wedding and I couldn't afford it. I'd love to see this come out as a regular release and have a blue-dial version, I loved that blue-dial original you had.
Thoroughly Enjoyed your review Spencer! I am I100% a Stainless Steel bracelet kind of guy so the mystery catalog bracelet you tried first is my choice. Thanks agin for the great review and would love to own a Bullhead lie the one in the video.
I was looking forward to the Regatta timer reissue until I saw that it's just a Regatta timer dial inside the clunky 5KX case. I'd much rather see it in its original style case like they did with this SRPK17.
Yeah, isn't that weird? Reminds me of when Seiko reissued a "pogue" that wasn't a chronograph and also had an open heart dial that showed the balance. Very weird choices.
Seiko may consider the rounded edges as a more refined case shape. The shape lines *may* have been a cost-cutting measure originally but became part of the charm and the aesthetic after the fact.
This is a home run.
Thanks Spencer. Love this watch, have it on an FKM waffle strap.
Thanks to your tip, so do I! Well, not a waffle, but I'm going to get one.
Love it. The bracelet is my problem, pinched my hairs immediately. Thankfully had a Maruman 20mm laying around. Uncle Seiko needs to come out with a H-Link for this.
Oooh Spencer's wife is a watch gal! Nice. Nobody yelling when he buys another watch!!!
It's all part of the business!
Yo le quite el armis de acero lo cambié por una correa de piel tipo rally de color rojo con despuntes de hilo . Quedó de cine.
Un Saludo Spencer y compañia.🇪🇸🇪🇸💖💖
Love the green dial and bezel. 42mm fits great!
Thanks for the vid Spencer, pushed me over to picking one up. Do you think a NOS crystal for the old one would fit reliably into the new case? Only thing that bothers me about this release is that they went with a regular single dome crystal, instead of the originals internal dome.
Wrong size, off by half a millimeter.
That random Seiko guy finally did something right instead of fooling around with the watches nice review
8:53 A 100 meters of water equal a pressure of 10 atm, not a hundred feet.
Thanks for the video.
Everything is in burger units when it comes to me.
This is the wrong bracelet if they wanted to replicate the original. Look at the catalog pictures from 1968. It had rectangle cutouts on the first three links.
Yes indeed it did
Best Seiko reissue since the '67 MM300.
Adrian at VTA just reviewed this watch. He does not rate the bracelet.
Hey Spencer. Do you know why Seiko seemingly randomly used Stellux to make bracelets and didn't do it in-house? It seems as if these were the only things they didn't make themselves which is very odd to me. Btw this is an awesome reissue! Cant wait to see if they do a 6119 rally or other cool models from '68-'69
Nice you got the JDM version, I have the international version purchased from a UK ad. Great watch, love mine.
It's JDM but no Kanji daywheel? I didn't know they were making more than one version. Mine says "made in japan", but no Kanji.
My March 1969 Blue Pogue also has an anodized sweep.
Yeah, those early ones did. Seiko switched away from those pretty quickly. I have a few of the originals and they were obviously not durable enough; they all look awful.
There's a gray dialed one up for auction in buyee right now
What’s the reserve duration when you do not wear the watch..? 24 hours, 48..?
I put the vintage strap on my version and now people notice the watch and strap even more.
What a difference it makes!
Love the blue version as well. New, reissue..?
At 6mins, that other version is great!
Is it a reissue as well?
I have a San Martin SN0107-G. Works for me, no bling-rings etc.. It tells the time, I don't need to wind it, I can see it in the dark, great!
The case is disappointing. I have a few originals, one of them has an untouched case and in very, very good condition. I saw this reissue and the difference is striking. How on earth they were able to do such sharp finishes then and now with all the new technologies and progress they can’t ?
My theory is that to hit the low price point they skimped on the casework, which is really unlike Seiko in my experience.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch Probably, but when you see Aliexpress brands making better finished cases at such low prices, one has to wonder. Seiko used to do it, even on their cheap watches.
Which has got the best movement ?
Hi Spencer, you selling that bullhead on your website?
No idea, honestly. It's unrestored though, a safe queen, so it isn't wearable as-is.
I like a watch with leather much better
Thanks!
me too.
Watch out for the pogue chronograph reissue coming out very soon. It'll be quartz unfortunately but otherwise a faithful copy of the original. I've also heard that a 6138 bullhead reissue is coming for their 60th. That one will be see the return of the kinetic.
Does it handwind? The crown seems a little small for it to do that.
The 4r36 movement hand winds. So yes.
Same thing as the old 830x / 834x models from the mid-1960s - fantastic movements that include hand-winding, but you'd never know because the crowns are tiny.
Made a good watch for once and made it limited😞
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Seiko!
so after 2 months you still can recommend it? I could buy one for 410 Euros, but i am not so happy with the bracelet
Overall it's great but I'm not wearing mine because the chapter ring is too big / tall, and the crystal isn't right in terms of the cross-section. They're supposed to have a double-dome; the originals did. This crystal is single domed - the bottom is flat which distorts how the dial should look. I've tried a few ways to correct it enough so that I'd stop noticing it, but haven't succeeded.
Keep the box.
Its nice but tolking like its watch for 20 t€ not 440€ is litle ower board. And after 2 weaks of carying i missed my Swiss watches and i realy love that warch its yust diferent from others . But when i put my cheapest Swiss watch Omega Seamaster 007 on my arm i yust seen what is the real good watch andnits not that expensive its 3,500€ but you see the diferent Seiko is like toy when you compare to Omega ,and my Seiko is in box now and i put it pn sail.
I think Seiko have done a good job on this "replica#. Maybe a toutc sharper case lines have been better and the second hand, but this is good ;)
:)
These comments makes this non watchable….
.. does that include yours?
At 15,555. Not sure how limited that is. Nice watch tho.
