Why does Tom move through so quick, why can’t he take his time?
For the sake of content. He doesn't want to bore his viewers or himself so once he's exhausted all his options he'll just throw an educated guess down.
Like he explained at the start, he's realizing he needs quite a bit of luck and lots of "easy" rounds in a row to be able to realistically make it in the leaderboard, so when it's something super barren with no signs or landmarks to go on with he's just going to guess quickly and move on to the next round.
