Billionaire Bob Parsons: GoDaddy Founder Bets On Psychedelics For Trauma Healing | Forbes

  • The Marine infantryman still suffers from PTSD from his tour in Vietnam but credits LSD and MDMA with helping him “come home.” Now he’s on a mission to help other veterans.
In 1997, Parsons started a Web design company that would eventually become his most famous venture-domain name reseller GoDaddy, which would become notorious for its raunchy Super Bowl commercials. He became a billionaire in 2011 when he sold the majority of GoDaddy to private equity investors, earning $900 million in cash and shares in the publicly traded company. He is now worth some $3.4 billion.
Parsons sat with Forbes to discuss his entrepreneurial mindset, how the Marines made him the man he is, and how his experience with psychedelics helped him tame his PTSD.

Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance- wealth, a great career, purpose-is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life..

This has me in tears because much like Bob and others in the comments, I too am a combat veteran whose service was in the us marine corps. Thank you Bob for being awesome, a true legend, and a true trailblazer in the Marine Corps and in business. Semper Fidelis.

Look up that handle☝️☝️. I was a very chronic alcoholic, I lost my job and everything important to me, I was depressed and in a dark place, then I met a Dr. Johnson, he's got the best stuff and tips for micro dosing. He helped me with my addiction to alcohol by microdosing mushrooms, the psilocybin in them helped me, it was like a miracle, now I'm good.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself
This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."

I have been researching, studying and writing about benefits of psilocybin since 1983. High school was my first paper on psilocybin and I wrote it for my very very cool *(cousin of Grace Slick) teacher. I was overjoyed beyond words when I watched him read my paper…because he was laughing. I loved that man so much-he was awesome.
Wrote many more and continue to be very intrigued by use of hallucinogens. Early 2000’s, there was a resurge and I said…this is what I have been waiting for.
    Good stuff.

    *Stop wasting your time complaining*
“People visit a wise man complaining about the same problems over and over again. One day, he decided to tell them a joke and they all roared with laughter.
After a few minutes, he told them the same joke and only a few of them smiled.
Then he told the same joke for a third time, but no one laughed or smiled anymore.
The wise man smiled and said: ‘You can’t laugh at the same joke over and over. So why are you always crying about the same problem?'”
