You can't talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet's most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. "When we made 'One Man Army' (2015), we wanted it to sound more like a live album than a traditional studio album. With 'Two Paths', we took that to the next level with analog recording, cutting down tracks and even recording songs without a click, and because of that there is a totally different kind of groove compared to most modern metal albums," states bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. While their ideas are huge and they consistently prove they have the talent to back them up, the band maintains the grounded MO that has served them so well over the years, with the results speaking for themselves. "It all comes down to writing music that sounds good to us and is fun to play live, and I would say with 'Two Paths' we've done everything better than we ever have before."
sadly there are no more songs like this in the new album... this song is perfect 10/10

This might be Ensiferum's Spit Out the Bone, the best song they've released since probably Victory Songs. Didn't like them after that album, might get into them again.

Check "Eternal Wait" / "Tears" / "Lady in black" / "Wanderer" / "Smoking Ruins" / "Vandraren" / "Celestial Bond" / "Star Queen (Celestial Bond part II)" / "Last Breath" / "Neito Pohjolan" and tell me if they are not singing with clean voice. Ensiferum has often put parts in clean vocals, and clean vocals doesn't means that is not metal.

Wondering how no one so far asked the question - WHY the shitty production? It's not 1983, it's 2017, "raw" sound doesn't necessairly equate to "shitty" sound.
They decided to recording bass and drums lines together at the same time.

Emile Locas Certainly not as much as there used to be, but I found it okay, of this is the direction the Band is going.... I'm still indecisive on how I like it, but it did sound like Ensiferum, so....
Remove the horrendous vocals at 1.25 and reward the song with better production and this could have been a classic.

Downhill from "Unsung Heroes", their decline is obvious. For me the last good album was "From Afar".
No idea how this is in any way downward from their last couple. I think it actually sounds refreshed and inspired for once.
The first half of Unsung Heroes is pretty good the second half of the album is boring ^^ One Man Army already was great again and it feels like two Paths is going to be even better :)
Side 3 might be a little boring, I agree, but side four, the 17-minute epic Passion, Proof, Power is ammaazzinggg (for me, anyway). Just when you think it's over and your mind has been blown, there are still 6 or 7 minutes still to come. I love the operatic vocals in this tune.

Predictably this new "Two Paths" is their weakest album after Unsung Heroes...total disappointment.
Meh...nothing special. Hope for other songs, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed considering the three songs that have been released. I'm sorry to say it but for me their decline is obvious if they continue this way. I will always be a big fan but their "new" sound I do not like anymore. Sad story.
