Growing up in the sixties, and passing the Fox ranch, in Malibu Canyon, every day on the bus to school, we saw many productions come and go, but none was more exciting than POTA. Having spent my entire adult life, working in the film industry, I truly appreciate the work that went into this documentary. Bravo!
That was really awesome. I saw the original Planet of the Apes when I was 13 at the movie theater. It was like Star Wars for me. I saw it several times. And then I watched the next four in the series, going to each one repeatedly.
I saw it on late night tv. This is what sci fi should do, give you a totally new perspective on the universe. I saw last Jedi yesterday. While it is a good movie, it is a rehash of stuff we've all seen before.
a hot, steamy town a young boy in the first row of a neighborhood movie theater a bigger than life theater - the hushed tones the dark interior in the middle of a sunny day sitting there transfixed completely immersed in another world... and sent into my own imaginary orbit from the explosive! sound and visuals of the corn field scene straight through to closing credits. thanks for the memories . . . . . .
I would love to talk to you, too, about your repressed homosexual feelings around this film that shows some outstanding footage! In "hushed tones," of course...
EXTREMELY WELL DONE......I love this sort of thing, as I've always been a fan of this movie ever since the day I first watched it just before I turned 15 in 1968.......I lived in Huntington Park, California at that time and saw the movie there on Pacific Boulevard either at the Warner Theater or at the California Theater......I have also always been a futurist and now realize at my age of almost 67 during this Coronavirus pandemic that THE BEST YEARS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAVE NOW PASSED INTO THE DISTANT PAST.......I arrived in California via Spain in 1963 from having been a rich kid in Cuba, and I don't need an elephant three feet away to see it......Humanity's days are numbered, and movies such as Planet of the Apes have a very strong meaning for those of us who can think and reason........CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS JOB WELL DONE......César M. I remember my mother describing this movie to our family after seeing it. Totally blew her mind. I guess you could say she spoiled the surprise, and 8t was several years later, before I got around to seeing it. Pretty amazing film, which has stood the test of 50 years time.
My dad and his friend were boating at lake Powell in 68. They came across the spaceship and looked inside at the valves and pipes used to sink it. Then they saw people on the shore and went to inquire. The y encountered the film crew who told them about the movie. None of the actors were there at the time.
The hatch that blew off is on the floor on Lake Powell still as far as I know. Then they re-used the ship on sequels and the TV show - after Escape From POA, the nose cone was a different color because when it "washed ashore" in Escape in Malibu it broke from the tow lines and smacked into those rocks forcing quick fix on the cone. As far as I know nobody knows what happened to that dart shaped steel prop - collector buy or rust at scrapyard.....🗼
I love the superimposing with the 'host' amongst the cast. He even does the script direction to help us to see how it was. Probably the best film set revisited or film comparison video I've ever seen! Congratulations👍🏽. A real work of love for the film❗️👏🏽😎

To me this is the one that matters, there’s many sequels, and it was done again years later, but this is for me the best one, way ahead of it’s time.

The average sea rise over the past five decades wouldn't be measurable with the naked eye, especially, as Rui points out, when the tide might be at a different point to what it was when the movie was shot. Take into account such things as weather variations, tide cycles , time of the year etc. and the fact that both pieces of film are long-shots and it would be ridiculous to use the latter piece of film as evidence that sea levels aren't rising. A rise of 2" wouldn't be noticeable with the naked eye, but it would be significant if it marked a trend.

My good friend Wally, on a fishing trip, witnessed the filming at Last Change Bay on Lake Powell and told us about it. I have every version on film/tape/disc since then. I paused the video many times, to see just how nature is so resilient and in many ways, unaffected by 'Human Time'. We have Wars, Bombs, Diseases, Conspiracies, Floods, Famine, Many different World Leaders, Inventions, Scientific breakthroughs, Space Exploration, Conquests, Failures, Disasters....etc etc etc. But when i see that the same rocks...the same trees have been sitting there all the time that i have been on this planet (and since i saw this movie with my school when it came out), I feel so insignificant! It all continues to just sit there decade after decade, with very little change. And it will still just sit there, when mankind is finished. You have provided such dedication to a project!! You have done very well sir!
Thank-You that was one of my favorite movies I was 7 years old and my mom and dad took me with them to see it that was 51 years ago lol when I'm feeling down or had a stressful day sometimes I will pop that DVD in and watch it take the stress off my mind. E 👍
Those apes were smart. They took the ship that was in the water, out of the water, fixed it up and then took it back to present day Earth. Something those damn humans could not do. Impressive.
Absolutely fantastic , great job, congratulations. From that old time you have brought the present state of those sites, that are engraved in my mind from the first time I saw it in a movie theater, the first time they show it in Chile. It gives a twist to many previous thoughts that it makes me wonder if films with a message are more valuable than those just make for fun. Thanks you very much.
Coming back to this genius comedic take on Planet the Apes film locations, it seems funnier than ever especially after watching some of the recent attempts from others posting their versions of this timeless classic from 20th century which was made in the 1960’s.
Cool Video! Gave Me a Great laugh. The first time Me and My Brother went fishing at Lake Powell Years ago, I told him "This looks like the forbidden zone from Planet of the Apes", Later We found out that it was! Thanks for posting!
I like the way you do your videos. It's very interesting to see the way the scenery has changed and stayed the same over the years. Thanks for posting.
So awesome to see the then and now comparisons. I seen this movie when I was 7 years old and was so fasanated by it. Now I want to watch it over again. Great job !

Why do i feel melancholy when watching this? fantastic editing thank you so much for your endeavours!
Drove my girlfriend crazy doing the same thing for “Jaws” locations on Marthas Vineyard -
Very well done. Now if Linda Harrison could only look the same after 50 years lol.
She's 73 now.
My first movie 'lust'.
A simply stunning looking woman.
I remember my 9 year old self being so amazed at the possibility of the world being destroyed . Thanks great video
They set u up 4 the jarring nature of this film early on. Like life sometimes. Classic.
Those apes were smart. They took the ship that was in the water, out of the water, fixed it up and then took it back to present day Earth. Something those damn humans could not do. Impressive.
JFC get the apes on at NASA

Ahhh.the magic of movies!!!
That really is great work! Thanks for posting.
Much of this Lake Powell was really in the Utah 95% of Glen Canyon Recreation Area. Miss labeled in the film. I have walked this area for 50 years.
Excellent job. One of my all time favorite movies. Saw it when it first came out
Excellent video, thanks for posting.
Lake Powell!!!...I've spent some time in Page...it's beautiful there and I highly recommend you visit if your anywhere near!!!
yes beauty place out of time.
Coming back to this genius comedic take on Planet the Apes film locations, it seems funnier than ever especially after watching some of the recent attempts from others posting their versions of this timeless classic from 20th century which was made in the 1960’s.
Fascinating and well done. I was 16 when I first saw this movie. Very impactful.
Cool Video! Gave Me a Great laugh. The first time Me and My Brother went fishing at Lake Powell Years ago, I told him "This looks like the forbidden zone from Planet of the Apes", Later We found out that it was! Thanks for posting!
absinthe64 Did you meet the underground mutants? They live there you know, and they're all registered Democraps!
I like the way you do your videos. It's very interesting to see the way the scenery has changed and stayed the same over the years. Thanks for posting.
Excellent Job, I can't even imagine how much time and effort this took.
Awesome! Congratulations! Good job!!
So awesome to see the then and now comparisons. I seen this movie when I was 7 years old and was so fasanated by it. Now I want to watch it over again. Great job !
