- Hi! Recently there was some beta leaks shown on the internet. I've decided to show you all these unreleased sprite in the best quality possible, some of them are good and other was in the works. The most important point about that video is also to show you all the Gender that didn't make it to the final release.

Better in my opinion than Gen 2 beta new Pokémon (or the ones who didn’t make the cut) all using Male Nidoran’s cry haha!
I imagine that they put null or something for the cry so the game went to national dex #001 or Bulbasaur and took it's cry

Having a gender difference for every pokemon sound cool but it'd take alot of work
Exactly why they cut them. These sprites are also a cross between gba RSE style to Nintendo DS due to backsprites fitting the size of gba games.
And we all know Gamefreak is lazy af these days so even if they were implemented they’d be removed when they felt it was too much to upkeep
Gerarghini maybe not lazy and know where to put their resources? setting their artists to alter every single 3d model that they have to add a slight difference that most people either won’t notice or will go “huh that’s neat” and move on. it doesn’t improve the quality of the game or might not even be needed for most ‘mons, so i just see little reason to add it for every single one of them. the gender differences we have now that are subtle are fine being in their own group with the way they are now.

How to make a female pokemon variant design:
Step 1: Shorten some part of their body
Aaaaaand you’re done!
Well, thats how nature works xD
Or delete one thing like in 0:18
Plot twist: the male variant was made first and they extended a body part
Or just make it look lest cooler!
I liked the idea tho
Imagine if this happened, we would've had just 100 pokemon in sw/sh
because it would've "taken more time" to animate all the models of the gender variants

A few yeah, like Scizor's backsprite (12:55) are very good. However most of these are way worse quality than what we ended up getting in gen 4. I mean look at this : 14:50 Suicune's mane looks like it was made in MS Paint because it has no shading at all

i prefer the way female raichu's ears is executed but pikachu and raichu having that difference would be amazing
While i generally don't like most of the ideas they were going for i would have loved if the sexual dimorphism remained with pikachu since i find the female design on Raichu so adorable.
The ears look a lot like what is now Audino and Alolan Raichu's too, it's cool to see the design was around for way longer

It's so stupid and boring that female pokemons were almost always portrayed with smaller parts or less cool in general. It's also often the other way around in nature. Females can often be bigger or cooler like hyenas, snakes and lot of reptiles, anglerfish and a lot of marine animals in general like sharks and whales, all birds of prey and most insects and invertebrates too. Bones also show that female dinosaurs were often bigger than males too, like in the case of the T-Rex. And charizard... COME ON! I'm glad they cut most of these.

2- It's quite funny that the beta front sprite of Ekans ended up being it's Gen 5 sprite

Why can’t they change the hairstyle of the Jigglypuff Evolution Line rather then making the ears smaller? I know its not in the final game, but still
Man, so many of the replaced sprites had so much soul. Maybe some were just slightly off but they all had so much more personality.
Yeah! I agree! I love some of the different poses that various Pokemon were taking! They made them look so full of energy and alive!

this is neat to see as a curiosity, but i'm glad they didn't go with it, variations should be more interesting
It does accurately reflect real-world sexual dimorphism. Hens look pretty boring compared to roosters

a lot of these actually are in game though. not all of them are unused. venusaur's bulb changes, the rattata line's whiskers change, horns are smaller on most females. female magikarp and gyarados have white whiskers. just because they were in the beta files doesnt mean they went unused.
Lugia and hi oh beta front Sprite are a little bit chunky
idk why they didnt just keep some of these in. i agree that some of these just dont look good at all like Charizard F, but a handful of them actually add a lot of charm to the pokemon: Beedrill F, pikachu and raichu F, sandshrew F, psyduck F, and Seadra M.

I honestly like most of these sprites
They thought it right; otherwise, it would be unnecessary double work.
Listening to the old pokemon cries, i can't help but feel that GamaFreak dropped the ball when the cries were updated for Gen VI, especially with Raichu and Charizard
Now I see why they reworked these sprites. Most of the gender difference are unnecessary especially for the smaller ear parts.

I incredibly dislike gender differences and I'm glad there are only a few of them in the final game. They basically just take one body part of a Pokémon, make it smaller (or erase it entirely) and then call it a day. I mean, these creatures are all meant to fight each other, regardless of their sex, so why should the female variants look more frail and wimpy than usual?
@@damagaz I totally get where you going. I'm just saying, that it's kinda cool having differences between the same specie, not just a pixel in different color (like Torchic). Like, some Pokémon are based on real life animals... Animals have gender differences between them
