Just found your video. (Audio is perfect, btw.) I also just pulled my VQ35DE from my 2004 G35x by myself, and I just pulled the engine (not transmission) as you did in this video. The harness trick looks interesting. I just took it off the engine and moved to the side. Wasn't too bad. This was a long process for me, just to get the engine out - it is not for the faint hearted. I have to crack open the upper oil pan/housing for AWD and put on the newer replacement engine, so two engine stands preferable. All of the peripherals are different on the AWD - starter, compressor, steering pump, and alternator - all different. So I can't use the newer peripherals that came with the newer engine. :( A list of what parts to replace would be nice (seals, o-rings, hoses, etc.) Nice if they had basic kits per model/year to keep all that up-to-date. All reverse of removal will be a big Simon game...
Awesome glad I watched this video. I'm about to pull my motor for a rebuild and I was planning on draining the AC refrigerant. But I'm going to stick to your plan.

Hey there. Your videos are very helpful, as I am having to put a nightmare engine rebuild back together. I’ve had to take over a crap mechanics job. Nothing was labeled just a mess. Anyways I have gotten the engine back together, set to TDC, engine turns, great compression, tranny is back on and all back into the car itself. I am now dealing with a wiring harness nightmare that I have the layout but it just looks crappy and I had to take off some of the brackets just to figure things out. sup man hope this message meets you during this time. I was wonder if this method work the same doe the fx35 awd. i want to swap the motor with out pulling the trans. any assistant would be great thanks.
So Unfortunately Im not positive but I dont think you can leave the trans in because the front diff attaches to the trans and the engine with a mount and the axles actually go THROUGH the sub pan on the engine, they are a bit of a weird setup and make stuff more difficult for sure....
Hey Aron I've been seeing you and Mike for a few years now and in a few months I'll be getting to buy one of my dream cars a g35 08 and was wondering for tips on the vq engine
@@Thecrookedking15 my buddy is selling me his 2008 Infiniti well mostly what not to do I know parts are expensive but I'ma an ls guy having Silverados from the 4.8 to the 6.0 and I've driven them like crazy and was wondering how to keep a vq happy
🙏🙏❤I usually wrap a chain around the timing cover hole in the center by the intake manifold and attach it to itself and then use the chain to wrap under the intake manifold under the throttle body and around to it self🤙
Do you have to take front end off on G35?? Cause someone told me it can only be dropped from bottom but if you remove from the top then you would have to take off the front bumper and all
I take off the front of both the 350z and g35, the front removal of the G is actually easier than the Z in my opinion, and the engines and accessories remove the same exact way🤙ive never taken it out the bottom and that doesnt really make sense to because removal of the subframe and steering linkage etc would have to be removed, whereas with the front removed, its real easy to access all parts needed to be removed/taken out of the way!! Hope that helps👊all love
I have a G35X, is it possible to swap a HR or even a 3.7VHR and delete the awd? Or can the transfer case and front diff bolt onto a RWD engine? I'm thinking that it probably won't work due to clearance issues? So I'd have to find a VQ37VHR awd engine most likey. That's if a 3.7VHR swap is even possible. Not quite sure in the complexity of the wiring that'll be involved? If it's even possible for everything to remain compatible. Are there any swap kits available? Or would I need an aftermarket ecu to retain all functions. I'd want the a/c, power steering, fully functional Guage clusters, cruise control, etc to work of course. I don't think I'd pass inspection if I have to use a tablet as my gauges and speedometer/odometer? Fortunately I just moved away from the city so they don't do emissions here. I'd love to do a VR30DDTT swap, but it's still too early in the game for one of those. Not too many have been done, I've seen a few of them having issues with their swap. None of them have fully functional gauges, etc. Possibly Z1 Motorsports does, but they had Nissan's help. I wouldn't have that luxury. There's been more 3.7 swaps I believe? I could just do a LS swap, but I want to stick with Nissan. I'm just worried that sense I have a X that my options will be pretty limited. I may only be able to stick with an 07/08 G35X VQ35HR as my best bet? Other wise if it's possible to swap the 3.7VHR from say a G37X, Q50/Q60 awd then I would go that route. Just fully build the engine. Im very curious to see if this is even possible. Does anyone happen go know weather it's even possible or am I dreaming?
I have a 08 G35X & my engine just blew at 200k after experiencing some hydrolok on a rainy day. Even though I was able to get it started again. I suspect a rod was bent which led to the catastrophic failure. I'm just going to have someone swap it out with a junkyard VQ35HR. Idk why you would want to add all that extra complication to your life with the different motor.
Hey so I haven’t manual swapped mine yet am I correct that when I pull it the tq converter will come out with the motor. And ima have to transfer it over.
What’s up brother. The torque converter comes out with the transmission. There is a window under the engine that enables you to get to the torque converter bolts (4 of them) to make the trans separate with the tq converter still on the input shaft of the trans. If you pull the trans off it you’ll spill trans fluid everywhere and it’ll be one extra step to taking the flex plate off
@@Thecrookedking15 so as long as it doesn’t separate from the trans I won’t lose fluids. Cool thanks again love the videos. Only other questions is h never pointed out where u hoist from
Hey man this video has been super awesome, I’m about ready to pull my motor out but am wondering the best way to separate the trans from the motor? Do I need to remove the driveshaft?
Thanks brother!! no the driveshaft doesnt have to come out as long as youre just pulling the engine, I do jack the transmission up tho so when the engine comes out with the mounts, it clears the power steering line and creates an upward angle for the engine to pull out at, Thank you for the inquiry, if you have more questions, hit me up on my dm on my instagram and id be happy to explain further!! all love

Thanks brother🙏🏼🙏🏼 and NOPE you can leave all the harness attached to the transmission. Just make sure you take off the slave cylinder off the transmission 💪🏼🤘🏼much love
@@Thecrookedking15 Thanks man!!! Really appreciate it! 🙏🙏
Where did you attach the chain on the engine for the hoist?
I wrap a chain or seat belt under the throttle body on the intake manifold and then go through the front of the timing cover and make that loop🤙🏼👊🏼
@@Thecrookedking15 awesome man thanks for the quick reply!
The last sensor on the trans is so tucked away I don’t see how you could successfully get it off with a screw driver
sup man hope this message meets you during this time.
Keep up the awsome vids
Great video, thanks for all the explanation, 👍
Of course man SO glad it helped!!!!!! Much love man!!
Hey Aron I've been seeing you and Mike for a few years now and in a few months I'll be getting to buy one of my dream cars a g35 08 and was wondering for tips on the vq engine
Hell yea man congrats 🎊 and thank you so much for the love and support 🙏🏼. What kinda things you looking for?
@@Thecrookedking15 my buddy is selling me his 2008 Infiniti well mostly what not to do I know parts are expensive but I'ma an ls guy having Silverados from the 4.8 to the 6.0 and I've driven them like crazy and was wondering how to keep a vq happy
Really appreciate the video man! How did you attach the engine to the chains?
🙏🙏❤I usually wrap a chain around the timing cover hole in the center by the intake manifold and attach it to itself and then use the chain to wrap under the intake manifold under the throttle body and around to it self🤙
Is it the same process for a 370z? 2012?? Love your video thank you
Do you have to take front end off on G35?? Cause someone told me it can only be dropped from bottom but if you remove from the top then you would have to take off the front bumper and all
I take off the front of both the 350z and g35, the front removal of the G is actually easier than the Z in my opinion, and the engines and accessories remove the same exact way🤙ive never taken it out the bottom and that doesnt really make sense to because removal of the subframe and steering linkage etc would have to be removed, whereas with the front removed, its real easy to access all parts needed to be removed/taken out of the way!! Hope that helps👊all love
@@Thecrookedking15 hey man thanks for responding. Where can I get a cheap VQ35DE??
Did you ever pull off fuel lines? Cuz I don't think I saw that in the video
Where did you buy your engine from because I'm looking to buy me a new one
I'd like to know too
I deal with JDM engine bay in Hayward🤙
I like that one. Take a Break crunch
Got to😂🤣😂 lol
Good Video, Thank you for take the time.
Thanks for watching! If you have any questions dm me or ask away on here, I try to get back to everyone I can🤙❤
Hey bro i Love the work you do!!! Is it hard to do an upper oil pan replacement on a hr/vhr??
Would have preferred more details in some places, like where you put cherry picker to pull it out.
I use a chain through the front of the timing cover and under and around the water crossover pipe in the rear😊
Only other questions is h never pointed out where u hoist from
Would you consider this the same as G35 coupe?
Thanks
Yessir💯
Will a q37 on g37 come out just the same from the front ?
Hey man this video has been super awesome, I’m about ready to pull my motor out but am wondering the best way to separate the trans from the motor? Do I need to remove the driveshaft?
Thanks brother!! no the driveshaft doesnt have to come out as long as youre just pulling the engine, I do jack the transmission up tho so when the engine comes out with the mounts, it clears the power steering line and creates an upward angle for the engine to pull out at, Thank you for the inquiry, if you have more questions, hit me up on my dm on my instagram and id be happy to explain further!! all love
Damn i need you by my side lol located in Baldwin Park n I've got everything out just need help on the button up!

Is this the same as the automatics or is it a different process?
