Looking at the RetroTINK-5X Pro upscaler from RetroTINK, is it worth it?

So today we are looking at an item I have been on the fence about adding to my setup.
Thanks to DaleyRetro (channel linked below) I have been convinced that this is the way to go.

I loved the idea of being able to play my retro consoles on modern-day TV and not constantly having to head out to my office whenever I wanted to play a game.
I have to say that this is incredible, brought with my own money direct from RetroTINK in San Diego this is an honest review or the upscaler from someone who really has no idea about these things lol!

Thanks for the comment mate as always, it's almost like a fan filmed our game from the stands in the first "YOBS" video and this footage is from ESPN its so clear lol. That looks really bad with me scoring doesn't it, was not intentional at all I promise lol. I'm actually nearly there now with the leftover symptoms, need to get back in the ring and train for the Social Media Royal Rumble so this needs to be gone soon 😀😀🤼♂🤼♂. Looks like a nice piece of kit; definitely a marked improvement in picture based upon the footage. Leads definitely help too; I’ve bought a few from retro gaming cables and they never fail to disappoint 👍. Cheers for sharing your view buddy. Have a goodun! 👍😊🕹️
Great comment Ed, totally worth it and so glad that I have finally upgraded to this little unit. As you say the leads have also made a massive difference and I will be jumping on the Nintendo cables as and when they are ready to order. Thanks for this video I’m also not very technically inclined and bought the retrotink for mainly sports games on PS2 and GameCube so this was the perfect video
I'm glad that you got something out of this mate, it's such a great piece of kit and I have also just managed to pick up the Rad2x adaptor for the N64. What do you think of the 5X? when you compare the5x pro to all of the HDMI mods that people spend a ton of money for each console then the 5x Pro is a no brainer. It is much better, plug and play and guaranteed to save a few consoles every year. Total up the cost of HDMI mods of all the various consoles and you will see the difference

Ive just picked up a 20 inc monitor video to come out and I need a good set of leads now been thinking of getting one of these but I also like the idea of modding consoles to HDMI as well, great interesting share Sean and a really crisp picture nice to see me skate in almost 4K lol

Budget $1,000 for the 4K-TINK 😥. Don't get me wrong, want it, but damn that's expensive.

Lol, I sold a good amount of stuff that I wasn't using as I would have felt incredibly guilty to have paid the £360 + import tax if it had all been from the bank account 😬. The cables alone would make a big difference in all honesty Steve, also there is a Mastersystem cable for sale on "Retro Gaming Cables" sp maybe look into that. And on the "YOBS", it showed in the future video that Steve has been putting in the hours on the practice rink 😀😀🏒🏒 Thanks for the comment as always mate, hope that your keeping well.👍
@@PompeyGamesRoom I've put on that much weight il fill the goal 🤣🤣 il defo have a look at the sms cable, I struggle loads emulating from my wii as I got the avg adapter on then it goes into a hdmi converter
Is it worth it, I’d the Pope Catholic lol. I well impressed with mine. The scanline filters on it are simply stunning. Nothing will ever fully replace a CRT, but being able to play retro on a huge screen is very cool.
It’s also very easy to use, but also a very deep device so if you want to really dial in custom settings you can, though the premade ones in the unit are fine I’ve found.

@@PompeyGamesRoom well the Scart adaptor from RGC is now up for preorder. I think £60 seems quite reasonable. My Gscartsw cost me nearly £200 and they’re now £300 shipped from the US :(.

No it’s not worth it. I bought it for over 300$ and picture looks the same out the box against the 40$ Porta. Save your money. Plus the 14-day window from purchase is ridiculously too short when you got a full time job and no PC. If I can’t get a PC by this Saturday I’m returning it. It’s too much money for what looks like the same picture

I have a quick issue with the retrotink 5x that maybe you can guide me on how to solve it.
In my setup, I have 2 scart switchers connected in between and then to the retrotik 5x. This is not perfect but got the job done, and I can play all my retro consoles on my big LED TV...
The problem came when I brought to my set up a new scart switcher, which looks very promising, 100 in and 2 out, and also is automatic so I don't have to manually change the input. Is really good, but since I installed it y don't have a good signal with my Genesis. The image starts to shake like crazy.
I've always used a SCYNC stereo cable for my Genesis, and this cable seems not to work with the retrotink 5x anymore (it works if I connect it to a CRT). I tried also to plug the console directly into the retrotink, but same results, Do you have any idea if this new switcher can break/deconfigure my retrotink? (It works perfectly with the rest of the consoles - PCE, SNES, SATURN, DREAMCAST, N64, MVS, and PS1)
