The Captain Marvel discussion reminded me of another reasons why she is a massive retcon into the MCU. In the first Avengers movie Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and Captain America confront Nick Fury about why he is using tesseract technology to build weapons of mass destruction. Nick Fury says something along the lines of 'because of Thor. When Thor came to Earth we learned that we are not alone and hilariously outgunned'. If the Captain Marvel movie is now canon, then Nick Fury had already known for about 20 years that we are not alone and hilariously outgunned.

That's why having CM in the 90s was a retarded idea. She could have emerged around the time of Civil War. Fury was absent from Civil War (which was really weird) so he could be dealing with aliens while the Avengers were fighting among themselves. No continuity errors, no 90s nostalgia bullshit and no retcons.
Reno Thomas Due to intra studio drama, Marvel television is basically the red headed stepchild of the MCU. It tries it’s best to tie in with the film but no one in the film division considers the shows canon. Joss Whedon stated once in an interview that Coulson is still dead in the film timeline regardless of being resurrected in agents of shield, and none of the films ever reference the shows.
I mean, wasn't half of the shit Fury talked about in that movie meant to be a ploy to make sure the Avengers banded together? Not to say that it isn't a continuity error, but the idea that he'd be lying to make sure his little project went well was established in that same movie.

Listening to Billy constantly trying to justify the horrible storytelling in some of these movies by coming up with weird theories that the movies offer no evidence for is almost painful at times. I like how everyone else just kept asking some very basic questions while he constantly adjusted his answers to based on them, without having any consistency.

I hate how Captain Marvel is being retconned as the most powerful Avenger. In the comics Thor would destroy her, and in the Infinity Crisis comics, Thanos one punches Captain Marvel like she's a gnat. In fact, she's officially ranked as the 10th most powerful Avenger! Even in the current MCU, she is ranked 5th! If you think it's because she's a woman, know that Scarlet Witch is considered more powerful by official Marvel rankings. I know arguing the strength of fictional characters is ridiculous, but I despise everything that Captain Marvel is.
Captain Marvel's number 1 hero status is so forced. They're trying really hard to create an iconic female hero to the point of it being dreadfully obvious.

I enjoyed that you guys had Billy on because it was hilarious to have a TLJ fan with you guys. But as someone who knows most of the lore, especially the EU/Legends canon, I was cringing so hard at how much he is wrong about lore. It's no wonder he likes TLJ because he doesn't know his Star Wars lore at all. Everyone that I know that is super deep on Star Wars EU/Legends lore hates TLJ because of how much it shits the bed on the lore.

@@christopherthokar8697 Yeah. I don't consider the Disney canon as part of Star Wars, it's worse than most of the fanfictions. Part of me is glad in hindsight that they separated the canons, preserves the EU. Yes some parts of the EU were meh, but overall it wasn't horrible like Disney canon. Rogue One is the only that is marginally okay to me because it doesn't directly fuck up as much as the rest of them do, including the media they have made besides the films.

The entire Captain Marvel confusion could be avoided if the entire thing had been done in space and during infinity war.
Carol could still be part of the Kree force, but during the chaos of Thanos rampage she finds out that she has been used, because the masks will be slipping off because of the panic.
Also replace the Skrulls with the surviving Asgardians and Valkyrie (Thanos always kills 50%) and Carol has a hook with the Avengers. She saves the Asgardians so Thor will be cool with her and - if she picks up Tony - Cap will be cool with her as well.
That way the first time they meet it won't be awkward and we get a different look at the events of IW, like the destruction of Xandar.

As someone who has never seen any DP, I found Billy insufferable.
He is insufferable. I stopped watching DP because of his presence on the show. Shortly after I stopped 3 of the original 4 peasants left the show so I never looked back.
Dispite the other issues billy becomwing a regular bothered me as well if i saw a show (until tj paul and scotty left) and there was no tj or paul i didnt watch and he was finr on the 24 hour show but imo thats when dp really died after that episode

I hate whenever people try to minimize Luke’s character by calling him a farm boy, becuz idiots like Billy can’t comprehend that it’s a parallel to the farm boy trope (if that’s even a thing) but his family aren’t literally agricultural or animal husbandry farmers, THEYRE MOISTURE FARMERS, BECUZ DESERT PLANET.
I’ve seen people even try to degrade Luke’s piloting skills by comparing his T16-Skyhopper to a crop duster, becuz farm boy, when the T16 is closer to an X wing than a 20th century airplane.

Remember when Sterling was actually invited to Valve on how Steam could be improved? Of course the "solution" Sterling provided was more curtailing of access because at the low bottom of the Steam store there were assetflips. My god, the terror. His solutions were anathema to everything Steam is , so Valve listened to Sterling and after the door closed his fat ass threw everything he proposed in the garbage and did the opposite.
This led to a couple of months where Sterling coped and seethed in his video's because Steam didn't listen to his majesty. He even defended the Epic Game Store and screw the consumers.

I can't remember if it was here on EFAP, but I recall hearing once that when a character does something that seems ridiculous, whether it's good writing is not dependent on whether we agree with the character's actions, but whether we can accept WHY he made those actions based on his or her established character.
To that, it actually doesn't make much sense that Nick wouldn't use the pager at any time in a previous movie, even in just a quick scene, or a passive action he does while doing something else. He's shown to be extremely cunning, having backup plans to his backup plans. He is calculating and rational, and can make extremely difficult choices quickly, such as the scene where he tries to take out his own plane to stop the nuke from going up.
It doesn't make sense that a character like that would suddenly rely on a hunch that everything will turn out fine. From his perspective, all plans have been exhausted except the final measure, which is his most powerful connection. It's the last backup plan. If that doesn't work, then truly nothing will. So yeah, the whole "he felt it would still work out" or "he wanted to believe his team could do it even against all evidence" absolutely makes no sense to me.

Okay, here's the totally screwy history of Green Goblin from the comics. Norman Osborn was the first Goblin. I'm a little hazy on this part but Harry finds out his dad is the Green Goblin and snaps, dressing up as the Green Goblin as well (I believe Norman was dead at this point). Once Peter discovers Harry is the new Goblin, he helps to hide it from everyone and Harry may or may not have actually be a drug addict at the time to help with any alibis. He goes to therapy for all of this. Peter starts seeing the Green Goblin again and worries that therapy isn't helping Harry but SURPRISE it's actually Harry's therapist. Seeing the Green Goblin flying around makes him snap again and he dresses up as the Green Goblin AGAIN. The therapist gets killed and Harry finally recovers from his psychosis, you know as one does. And no, he's not the last one either.
Somewhere in all of this, I believe, all of Norman's hideouts throughout the city are torched but one guy finds the lairs among the rubble. This leads to the birth of the Hobgoblin. All in all, I believe there are about 4 or 5 Green Goblins and Hobgoblins each. That said, Harry is unnamed as a Goblin in the movie but "New" Goblin is just insulting to the character, fans, and audiences in general.
Yeah the only time i recall Harry being hobgoblin, was not in the 616 setting but rather ultimate setting. Where he was transformed into a goblin monsters, rather then wearing a mask. So yeah that was different worlds or dimensions. Given Mauler and friends seem to know jack about the comics. I think that is where their confusion might of came from, that or simply due to wanting to make a gag. One of the two.
This guy is worse than Major Lee in some ways.

So an important point in this podcast, Billy starts to defend Captain Marvel's mediocrity, and mediocre storytelling in general. Let me be clear, obviously no story is perfect. I understand wanting to cut someone slack for making human errors, but every story, character, and conflict created is, to me, just another blueprint to ensure for a better story, character, conflict. This is why we cannot simply ignore mistakes, because we as humans can do better, this is the attitude that put us (well America really) on the moon. The ability to use the Force is rare. It was already established in pre-Disney Canon that EVERYONE had the force, but only a very small amount had a strong enough connection to the force to use force abilities. If you go looking into the lore you even find that the Republic made it law that all children born had to be tested for this connection and if determined to be high enough the parents were somewhat "required" to hand their children over to the Jedi Order... This law is actually one of the reasons given for why during the Clone Wars a rise in anti-Jedi sentiment among the public is seen.

on the topic of SuperEyepatchWolf, when MauLer said that he seems "over the top" in terms of negativity, I found that extremely strange. His content is way more often than not positive. The only reason i could think of for you having that thought is that negative content for whatever reason usually gets more attention than positive content which is definitely the case with hi,, his negative content is some of his most popular videos. But again, most of it is positive. Even then, being positive or negative consistently isn't inherently a bad thing. as long as they're doing it justifiably. In fact, i could say the same thing about you, MauLer. Most of your content is pretty negative, but that doesn't mean anything in terms of its quality.

Yes, the force resides in all living beings. It is a "force" that essentially makes up reality in a way. However, force sensitivity is rare. So, although Billy was right that the force is in everyone, only a few have the ability to manipulate it. Disney might have tried to erase it because most of the deep explanations were in the EU, but ironically, episode 1 made it official canon by introducing midichlorians. There were also episodes in the Clone Wars that further explained and established what it means to be "force sensitive" and that is canon as well

I've never listened to Drunken Peasants before, but I've heard a lot about how great they are supposed to be and how EFAP is a suitable replacement in some regard.

Billy is awful. He has low standards, makes poor excuses, gives the "it's just a comic book movie" excuse, etc., etc. I mean, the EFAP guys argue with him enough. They get that he's wrong. But I don't get why there's some great opinion of Drunken Peasants if Billy is one of them. Like Jay kept pointing out, Billy is exactly like the people that EFAP watches videos of and criticizes for having bad arguments. The EFAP guys and their boss, Jay, did their usual job of watching and critiquing videos. Billy was just a hindrance.
Maybe I've just misunderstood the opinion people have for DP.
When talk about it they are more so referring to old dp with TJ kirk Paul Scotty and Ben but when the old fell apart that is when it started to tank in quality
Billy is relatively new. DP was a thing years before Billy showed up, if I recall correctly.
Drunken Peasants use to be great when Paul's Ego and The Amazing Atheist were on the main cast. It was a lot like EFAP except with they were more political and would cover all the SJW shit when that was just starting to gain traction. Now they cater to a more SJW type audience as far as I can tell, because their chat was full of them when I checked in to see how far down they fell a few months ago. It was a sad sight.
This was really recent, so you guys couldn't have known when this first aired, but I read an article that talked about how they discovered that adding something other than bamboo to a panda's diet (forget exactly what it was), actually ended up boosting their energy levels so they are a little less docile and also regained their sex drive almost immediately. For years people believed that pandas only ever ate bamboo, but turns out not only is that not true, but they actively need a broader diet in order to survive as a species.
Yeah the main reason pandas don’t still eat meat and hunt like other bears is they lost the ability to taste meat through a mutation, their body is still better set up to be eating meat than bamboo
