We would like for you to show us how to load hay with a barrel hitch

At what dimension of your load do you decide to switch from a basket hitch to a barrel hitch? Do you have a rule of thumb, like anything over 3 feet gets a barrel hitch vs a basket?

No, I don't have a rule of thumb when to switch over. After so many years of packing I prefer the barrel hitch. Twenty years ago we packed 50# grain bags as basket hitch. Now we flip them sideways and do a barrel hitch.

I'm asking for honesty curiosity, but is there a reason why the tail is under the britchen?

No, Travis had just put the saddle on to show how to tie a barrel hitch. As soon as the mule starts moving around the tail will come out.

Our lash ropes are 54 feet. Our lash ropes are longer than most packers so we can top pack using the Middle Fork Diamond.
