@@mendezj1287 it's excellent! I'm used to more flat shoes so it's a noticeable difference in height, but super comfortable and supportive.

Did yours come with a tongue with no gusset like this or was it fully gusseted like the rest of their boots?
If anyone from Nicks is reading comments, there’s a need for an American made full grain leather unlined 6 or 8 inch height backpacking boot. The sole needs to be stiffer than most general purpose hiking boots. And if you decide to create a winter version of it use closed cell foam between outer and inner full grain leather as the insulator. See the Lundhag Professional II High Opti as an example. The closed cell foam won’t absorb moisture.

I’m curious with the outsole stitching: do the stitches come in contact with the ground? If so wouldnt that be the sole’s weakest point? I’m thinking of purchasing this model but this aspect intrigues me.

You can expect the same amount of arch support with our boot lasts.
@@jkbootsusa I'm a Brannock size 11EE, and just ordered a pair of Drew's Loggers in 10EE... the made in Mexico version. If they fit well, I will be ordering a pair of the OT or Forefronts in Bison. Most likely in the same 10EE as the Drew's.
@@Condor1970if u know your brannock i’d just go a size down n then measure the ball of your foot n go with their guide. I did it and it fits exactly like it’s suppose to (with some extra space infront to compensate when the insole/boot breaks in. Just from what I’ve read i’d never assume/trust that the size would be the same across different manufacturers. Hope this catches you before you order

What does putting the leather in oil do?
It is actually hot water that we soak the boots in. What this does is allows the leather to stretch around the last in the wet lasting stage. This helps the boots hold there shape after breaking them in👍

Looks like a leather shank, common material used in PNW boots. It'll last much longer than steel

No shank? Not even leather?
He did add a shank, i believe it was leather. It was dark in color. Seemed like it was more maliable and thinner than one from other companies. Looked like he was able to form it to the boot and glue it instead of a more rigid one that needs to be nailed down.

@@ktraughb you may be completely correct. I assumed it was leather, but confused why they would use a piece that is dyed and also very malleable. Poron filler makes more sense.
