4500km Bikepacking Around Norway | Part 2

- Опубліковано 9 вер 2024
- In Part 2 we leave Lofoten behind and head to the island of Senja another jewel in Norway's crown. Northern Norway is an absolute wonderland but its beauty comes at a cost. Fighting the unpredictable arctic climate and sharing the only road north with supply trucks makes for challenging conditions. But when you've come this far nothing will stop you from reaching the top of Europe!

Great 👍
Nordkapp is a wonderful destination 🌟
Fab!
Absolutely stunning scenery...... great editing and well put together 👍
Nice to see a Tesla 8:12 in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful country, amazing journey, thanks for sharing and inspiring!
Currently preparing for a 4 month bikepacking/touring trip trough Norway and Sweden and i'm really fund of your hybrid style! Beautiful footage en great filmmaking, cheers from the Netherlands!
Just saw part one and commented on one of my biggest fears being cycling those tunnels. But I feel safer already with the sign and flashing lights alerting motorists about there being bikers in the tunnel. - Good job Norway!
Only a selected few tunnels have these options but most of the tunnels up the coastal route are reasonably safe (bright lights/reflective vest essential). Unfortunately, if you want to experience the beauty of Norway you just have to persevere through them. Once you'd cycled through a few you'll get use to the unpleasant experience and feel more confident.
@@matthewnorway thank you for reply. It will be a struggle, but with confidence and perseverance I will manage sooner or later :) - Now out to shop for reflective west and some lights for the bike.
Brilliant.
Always a total joy to watch your Norwegian adventures, Matthew. I've watched them all, and now I'm starting again. I wish you all the very best for your new venture, too. Greetings from Devon.
🤩 New videos coming next year. I will be back soon! Greetings from Norway
Fantastic video mate. I've watched a couple of yours now and I'll be watching the rest when I have time. They really should have way more views. Also I have to take my hat off to your perseverance and grit especially with some of the weather conditions you've had to put up with. Thanks for making and sharing these videos, your efforts are much appreciated. Thanks and stay safe. 👍
It's amazing sir salute to you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's one of the best coastal rides you can do :)
@@matthewnorway offcourse sir if God wants 😀😀
Great video and what views. love Norway even more now. Best start planning a trip, but no way am I doing a trip like that on my own.
Hooked by beautiful scenes of your video. Great job. Currently still riding hard tail mountain bike. Do you think I need to switch to that canyon grail cf like yours for long distance riding?
If you have the cash then I can not recommend the canyon grail more highly. It’s a fantastic bike to ride long distance on. Fast, comfortable and totally reliable both on and off road. But a mountain bike will do the same job and is perfectly fine for long distance around Norway.
Can you make the tour public on komoot? Great video!

exceptional great wheater conditions - or did you just film, when the sky is blue? :)
I filmed ever day come rain or shine. I was caught in a unique heat wave heading up the coast but it didn't last forever and I had my fair share of bad weather further north and in Part 3 heading back to Oslo.
Absolutely love your videos, Matthew - imagine we needed an Englishman to show us Norwegians how and where to cycle, we'd be lost without you!! :D I sent you a friend request both on Strava and Komoot, and hope to get access to your insight on routes to choose and not to choose. Would be willing to pay, of course - do you have a Patreon account?
Hi, All routes will be on cyclenorway.com by April - There will be a small fee to access them. Plenty of info will come with each route.
@@matthewnorway Excellent - thanks a lot, Matthew 🙏🏻😊
Awesome video! What time have you been in Norway?
Thanks! This journey took place late June early July.
@@matthewnorway Wow, didn't anticipate so much snow and cold weather. Cheers!
mikeski7ify neither did I 🥶
Hi Matt, there is a few of us who are potentially going to come over to Norway to celebrate our 50'ths in doing the tour from Oslo to Stavenger. it looked like your route was quite an experience would you mind sharing the details direct?
Hi Russ, great choice, it's an epic ride but make sure your group is ready for the challenge. There is over 7500 meters of climbing and you need a good level of fitness to deal with the 10-15% average gradient monster climbs. You can watch the highlighted journey here (with the route in the description box): ua-cam.com/video/VWyCkeJqpXM/v-deo.html
If you fancy a more flatter but longer route, follow cycle route 1 along the south coast to Stavanger its sign posted from Oslo all the way.
Hi, er du på strava?

Nice video, any change you have a map of your trip?
This took me weeks to plan. It's the best and safest route you can take - Trondheim to Nordkapp: www.komoot.com/tour/171951548
@@matthewnorway Hey Matthew, thanks for sharing! Unfortunately the route seems to be on 'private' and can't be accessed. Would you be so kind and open it up? That would be really great! Cheers (:
