The best part? Reggie Jackson's run to the dugout. He ran over multiple people. However, there were crazy people out there and he was doing it for his own safety.

I remember being at Yankee Stadium that night and we saw this winning of the 21st World Series right before our eyes and we ran downstairs and got on the field since this was way before the rules were changed and there were more security at the time, we went into the dugout again before all rules for fans were changed forever and we had a Reggie Jackson jersey with just his jersey number on there signed by Reggie Jackson himself he was very nice and was pleased to sign his autograph on my jersey when he came back in 2008 on the last day of service at the old Yankee Stadium I worn his signed jersey which I had him sign because of my fan ship with him was outstanding we heard the few words said about him as one of the all time MVPs and they called out his nickname which is Mr October and then said his real full name and he ran out onto the field to bring back old times which was post old timers day at the old Yankee Stadium that night which was the night of September 21st 2008 the night that changed Yankee history for all time, the whole game in a nutshell lasted 4 hours because of the big ceremony they had on the very last day of service, then Derek Jeter got the biggest home run if I’m correct thinking that ended the game and it was safe to say that the Yankees won the final game at the old Yankee Stadium, then Jeter gave his speech before they left that old time ballpark which was the house that ruth built all the Yankees took pictures with their cameras and even the fans did too, then on the very first day of service at the new Yankee Stadium Reggie Jackson and all those old timer Yankee players and representatives were there again this time for the inauguration season on inauguration day for Yankee Stadium, the whole game was the same time length as the old Yankee Stadium’s last day of service during this very first day at the new stadium they were already in the process in tearing down the house that ruth built in ‘23 that was burnt into our hearts forever, we then leave the game after 4 hours and we saw them taking down our beloved stadium which was a cathedral of baseball, but on the last day of demolition we took a Metro North direct Harlem line from Bronxville directly to Yankee Stadium not just to see another game but also to see the final wall coming down to bring the old Yankee Stadium to become history and never to be seen in person again, we looked at what was left of it and saw just this huge cloud of dust and to say we cried so hard because our home for baseball was gone forever we would never see it again, then we looked at the site a year in a half later in 2012 and saw Heritage Park which was where Yankee Stadium was as we went to yet another game after taking the 4 train from Mosholu Parkway to Yankee Stadium, we still couldn’t believe it was over that where we used to throw popcorn on people that were being obnoxious and all that was history and we would never have a perfect game where we used to run on the field ever again. What a shame, but on the bright side the new stadium looks like how it used to be at the start of their timeline in The Bronx, we went to all old timers day games and enjoyed it but things would never be the same as they were
Quick fact. Anyone notice how The Yankees are on defense and Reggie is running in from RF with a batting helmet on? That's because with two outs in the top of the 9th one out away from winning the World Series they actually had to delay the game for Reggie Jackson to go in and get a batting helmet to wear because the fans were throwing stuff onto the field including firecrackers. It actually took a minute too because they were in the process of transferring all the helmets and equipment back to the locker room so he had to wait for his to get brought back out.
Speaking of the January 2011 "Beastquake", another memorable moment in Seattle sports history comes to mind watching Reggie mow down everything in his wake post-Game 6 of the '77 WS. Angels vs Mariners AL West Tiebreaker with M's clinching their very 1st playoff in 18 years. And led to the greatest ALDS in history vs Yankees, "The Double" by Edgar Martinez driving home Ken Griffey Jr with a "stallionesque" run to home plate & sending Seattle into a frenzy! At the end of that tie-breaker game, the fans swarmed the field at Seattle's Kingdome, celebration's abound & digging up dirt off Randy Johnson's mound after he pitched a 9 inning complete game 1-run masterpiece. Yet the next series vs NY, there were police & stallions everywhere so no one dared to rush the field!
Players cheering and running for their lives, Reggie Jackson knocking a guy 3 feet into the air, cops beating someone with a Billy club and a guy doing a cart wheel all in the span of 30 seconds.
Reggie Jackson: a) just won the World Series and is headed for the champagne; b) is running for his life in the Bronx, or; c) is testing out some running back moves with his bulked up physique. Possibly my all-time favourite World Series moment. I remember watching this live and my jaw just dropped.
Check out the new book, "Good To The Last Out" written by Theo Tate, which details all of the final outs of the World Series, including the one made by Yankees' Mike Torrez. It's a very good book.
What a time to be alive. Would love to rush the field if my team won. Unfortunately we live in a time where someone would take advantage of the situation in a sinister way. Honestly, I’m surprised it’s still allowed in college sports.
I was running around the field after the game.....and picked up a policeman's hat who was trying to break up a group trying to steal home plate...I wore the hat into the Dodger dugout and just outside the clubhouse, a few reporters made small talk with me, but I mostly kept to myself...It's crazy that I had a navy blue windbreaker and navy pants on that night. I walked around the entire stadium for hours, and watched the Yankees leave the stadium from inside. Spent time in a private suite overlooking the field with a closet with beer cases from floor to ceiling, and I saw a videotape player ( I'd never seen one before). Another suite had men lying on a couch, a chair, and even the floor, sleeping or passed out), and a broadcasting booth complete with player statistic printouts and scripts. I even climbed a ladder to the roof. I hung out at a bar open only to press and employees, just observing and listening I wish we carried around cameras then! Hours later I was apprehended by a detective who happened to ask questions I couldn't answer (the first being what precinct I was from). I just turned 18,...and on the verge of tears when a group of policemen told me I was going to be arrested. I had a resin bag from the Yankee bullpen in my pocket that they took. I waited as they actually called the policeman, who's hat I had...to ask if he was assaulted (no)...the longest few minutes of my life. Although I was impersonating an officer, they let me go. One telling me, the "subway is arriving in a few minutes, go run for it before I change my mind". I made it to my high school classes a few hours later.....What a night!

Bunting with 2 outs in the 9th- now that's an interesting way to end a game, let alone the World Series
he was trying to get on base so the next batter would represent the tying run. he didn't bunt it well. the idea wasn't bad, the execution was.
