I'm a musician trying to learn more about traditional japonese instruments, and this video is great. Not only does it feature the 3 most relevant instruments i'm trying to study, but it has long compositions with solos of each of those instruments so that i can listen and understand their intricacies. Thank you so much for this upload
did you know I started reading Musashi book for the 2nd time on 2017 listening to Kineya Ensemble. The music was unlike anything I have heard before but felt familiar and it gave me such a strong vibe. It is only until now i rediscover the album again thanks to your channel. Now I am reading Musashi for the 3rd time while listening to this
Koto music was only played for the highest social class in the Edo period. I find it sad that the more common and lyrical types of music, such as folk songs (minyo), theater songs (nagauta) and geisha songs (hauta, kouta) are constantly overlooked. Any time I see a CD of Japanese music for sale, it's always the same rich koto music. I believe the shamisen reflects Japanese culture better, even though the koto is consistently beautiful. Echigo-jishi (15:11) is an example of nagauta theater music, but performing it with the koto is not authentic. I feel like the shamisen takes a back seat there.
I love the Edo period music so much! It's so amazing! (I hope UA-cam don't punish me for saying this, accusing me of bullying and intimidation for saying I love a music style)
lovely.. early morning ım listening this lovely song in my home and my restaurants
Where are your restaurants located? ☺
I feel like a sad and brokenhearted oiran, draped in gorgeous silk, but alone, staring at my mirror in the late quiet of Yoshiwara.
Mono no Aware comment. Thank you for sharing this poetic perspective with us
One more reason to be grateful for France's interest in old Japanese culture.
It is true :)
yes!
??, japanese culture it s enough reason

I also think he deserves more recognition. It has deep roots in Japanese tradition. As you said, it doesn't look authentic without the shamisen.
THX FOR THE UPLOAD MY BRO!!!!
