This is the very first song I heard and liked in my life, when I was 3 or 4... I was riding in my dad's car, he put on one of his cassettes, this song started and I was like, "Hey, this is a nice song!" My dad, as well as my late mom, were pleasantly surprised that I expressed such music taste at such young age. To this day, this remains one of my favorite songs ever.
Thats very good of you to remember this song in young days. It was my best song too for me the piano song Bach the rargo no 22. Now I am trying to play this with piano and guitar. From Korea.
@@dakyorlando : Good !! Keep digging ! :o)) JS Bach has influenced many hardrock and metal guitar players not just Ritchie Blackmore and later on Yngwie Malmsteen (who, alas, forgot to play with subtlety many years ago). As for me, I don't like the Orchestral suite from which this theme is taken - except the movement where this Air On a G string is featured ! There is too much trumpet for me on most of the 4 Orchestral suites. But if you just take the complete "Well-Tempered Clavier" from Bach on piano, (not harpsichord, for me at least) played by a great piano player like Sviastoslav Richter or Andra Schiff, it's just a masterpiece... The "Suites for lute" are fantastic too... and "The Art of Fugue" too. Those works are in a similar vein.... Bach had a very special style... I love JS Bach anyway for his instrumental music mostly, and not necessarily what is the most famous..
This is quite a tribute, a homage dare I say to the genius of J. S. Bach by a very gifted guitarist! So uplifting, stirring and moving, it's beyond words!
All these decades later I can't express how much happiness this track still fills me with, its just blue skies, summer, being in love and everything being neat and just perfect - Heaven! :o)
Just amazing how so many if not most comments here are from people of varied descent. Thank God that the classical style the west has lost is not lost on the rest of the world. I'd like this played at my funeral as my last musical request.
We do agree... Vinnie's technique is perfect. He said already some years ago that he didn't progress so much compared to 1988, because he was then practicing so much, every single day... He's still an absolutely awesome guitar player but more rooted in blues and hard rock now.
This is absolutely magnificent to me... but well, once again, it's a matter of tastes. It's the music of JS Bach... with a lot of intensity. The only thing I'd change is the drums, the sound and the playing.
Sounds like DT finally woke up again out of Bad Dreams after many nights of terror. Might call this one The Awakening! Welcome back, guys. Feels like nothing was lost after so many years of loss.
There have been many adaptations of this theme but nothing as great as what Vinnie did. The inclusion of the bit from the second movement of the piano concerto nr 5 is pure genius.. The solo is matchless, perfectly fluid and so intense yet !! And that makes me so frustrated that Vinnie Moore abandoned his classical influences ages ago . Because he plays this much better than most guitarists who had classical influences. Vinnie has such an astounding sensitivity and technique. Only the drum sound is a bit misplaced here. Jordan Rudess, future member of Dream Theater played keyboards on this album, from 1988, but his name is spelled "Rudes" on the credits .
@@TheGoldenriff : I tend to prefer classical leanings, and some younger guitar players are still inspired by the genre but also other genres... Even with older musicians. Look at MacAlpine who used to be basically a classical musician, he had said he'd keep being inspired by classical, in 87, but he rapidly explored jazz fusion and different kinds of more modern metal, although classical influences keep surging here and there in his works. I discovered Daniele Gottardo during the last 6-7 years. He's played jazz fusion but he also did a album merging classical instruments and electric guitar and he's extremely talented
The pictures do compliment this music piece perfectly. I can't discribe how much I like this music it's so beautiful and serene, and is a joy to listen when lying on grass watching the blue sky, and suddenly you discover the inner peace. Vinnie is a music genius!
it's voice from heaven once, i had ever heard it when i was standing top of the great cruise and it's made me seem go on .land of Sea calm sight the sun began to fall, and my mind began to drift up although the god never say anything but the would it's also rotate of its as this .
Remember first hearing this in the 80's - I felt a deep, I mean a very deep stirring in my loins. By the end of the track my nipples had exploded with delight & my buttocks were quivering like jelly and they stayed quivering whilst I thought 'wow beautiful music and awesome guitar solo'. Very rare indeed for any music to have such an effect on me, Vinnie Moore is very underestimated! Wish he would another neo-classical album like 'Time Odyssey' or 'Mind's Eye'.
Not to minimize John Petrucci, Satriani and Malmsteen, but they should really have some composition lessons with guys like Vinnie, Vito Bratta and Steve Morse. This classical-metalization kicks-off!
Reminds me of my late wife, sadly passed away, 27th March 2015... I miss you baby.

I'm sorry... for me it's impossible to overcome the loss of someone you really love, the only thing I can do is get used to living with the pain.
A beautiful tribute to the greatest composer of all time.
It's 2023 may this masterpiece never die.

All gorgeous but that jawdropping solo always blows me away.
One of the greatest masterpieces I have ever heard... Love to play after J.S. Bach original... feels like flying over music’s history...

this piece reminds me the beautiful italian prog rock bands from the 70`s. great!
Thank you Vinnie for this, and all the other great compositions you wrote. You are the Motzart of the 21st cwentury.

Listening to this song, especially the solo while high is like being in total serenity. I fucking love it so much.
its similar to bach

I have no idea what that says, but I agree. :-)
와~~~그냥 감동입니다
내 생애 이런 음악을 들을 수 있었다는 건 무한한 기쁨입니다
Vinnie Moore's early music reminds me of Yngwie Malmsteen but much more reserved and controlled.
Vin seems to have always been humbler, and I think it comes thru in his sound and playing. More natural as well.

Dreamed a lot listening to this....looking at the blue skies....

This is a variation on "Air on a G String" by Bach.
More of an arrangement by Vinnie than a composition.
Not quite happy, not quite sad.
I love this song to bits.
Bittersweet yet sublime
Eternal. As simple as this.
Still unbelievable!!!

2022, still hear this masterpiece...
Isn't this a mix of Bach's piano concerto number 5 and Air on a g string?... magnificent tribute to the wonderful Johanne Sebastian at any rate.
Yes both are based on a very similar theme, and Vinnie mentioned both on the sleeve of the album.
