As of Turkey's 2010 census, the city had a population of 98,627, while the district that includes the city and its built-up region had an area of 1,598.51 km2 and 248,286 inhabitants.

    The Mediterranean climate, natural attractions, and historic heritage make Alanya a popular destination for tourism, and responsible for nine percent of Turkey's tourism sector and thirty percent of foreign purchases of real estate in Turkey. Tourism has risen since 1958 to become the dominant industry in the city, resulting in a corresponding increase in city population. Warm-weather sporting events and cultural festivals take place annually in Alanya. In 2014 Mayor Adem Murat Yücel, of the Nationalist Movement Party unseated Hasan Sipahioğlu, of the Justice and Development Party, who had previously led the city since 1999.
    Alanya Castle:
    Most of the castle was built in the 13th century under the Seljuq Sultanate of Rûm following the city's conquest in 1220 by Alaeddin Keykubad I, as part of a building campaign that included the Kızıl Kule.
    The castle was built on the remnants of earlier Byzantine era and Roman era fortifications. After the area was pacified under the Ottoman Empire, the castle ceased to be purely defensive, and numerous villas were built inside the walls during the 19th century. Today the building is an open-air museum. Access to the seaward castle is ticketed, but much of the area inside the wall, including the landward castle is open to the general public.
    The #castle is located 250 metres (820 ft) high on a rocky peninsula jutting into the Mediterranean Sea, which protects it from three sides. The wall which surrounds the castle is 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) long and includes 140 towers. 400 different cisterns were built to serve the castle.[1] In 2009, city officials filed to include Alanya Castle and Tersane as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and they were named to the 2009 Tentative List.[2]

    What a GREAT video! Thank you for sharing this video of Alanya. You presented it perfectly,...not much talking at all. You just let the video and the music make a wonderful presentation of Alanya. This is now saved to Favorite videos. Like "Nizam" below, I too am looking for a place to retire, and through UA-cam videos I have found Analya, Antalya, and the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, which has the look and feel of southern California (USA). Thank you again! -- signed your "Turkish prison" friend in the USA!

    My familie went to Alanya and I was shocked to hear of the direspect the Tyrkish workers at the hotel treated the young women and even the men in our familie got in fights with the Tyrkish hotel staff when they did not gott to go out on dates with the young women of my family. I never went to Turkey again. Is there any safer places in Turkey for women because I like to visit ? Hope you can help me, as a single women I really want to feel repsected and safe where I go to experience the culture and nature. Thanks for showing Anatalia. I hope its not just for men or married women to be able to stay the winters there?

      Sorry to hear about your negative experience in Alanya. Alanya and Antalya are very touristic places and people are usually respected in both areas. It was an unfortunate event that I don't think you'll face again. Hope you make it to Antalya next time and hopefully have a great time.

    Fist English review. Omg! Thx. How is the prices in restaurants? Taxi price or bus?

    • @tiptopturkey
      @tiptopturkey  2 роки тому

      Hi, glad you like the video. Restaurants in Turkey are relatively cheap. Cheap eats such as Chicken Döner cost around 14 TL. A meal in a mid-range restaurant costs around 50 to 70 TL.
      As for Bus rides, a one way ride 4.10 TL. Taxi ride for about 20 mins is around 50 to 60TL.

      @@tiptopturkey thx for reply. We gonna live in Utopia world hotel. 20km from Alanya. Thinking what to do use bus or rent a car for 1 day.

    • @tiptopturkey
      @tiptopturkey  2 роки тому

      Renting a car for a day during this time costs around 300 TL/day. Usually a car will give you more mobility to move quickly from place to another. Buses and taxis are widely available and not expensive. Enjoy your trip!

    To be honest after visiting both I would say Antalya is much much better than Alanya. Antalya is more modern and grand. Trademark hotels and trademark malls. Antalya city is more organized and cosmopolitan and classic. Antalya has more attractions and better surrounding nature. Antalya has a major airport. Better international cuisine and restaurants in Antalya. Antalya people are friendlier to tourists and try more to speak English. The old city in Antalya alone is better than Alanya. Alanya only has the telefric and the castle walls with the cove. Konyaalti beach is much better than cleopatra beach. Do you agree Bilal that people try to exaggerate and hype Alanya too muh? I even heard some people saying it’s better than Antalya 😂😂😂.

      Hi, I agree Antalya is bigger and has more options than Alanya and it is the capital of Antalya province. Outside the high season, Alanya is less crowded. At the end it is a personal preference.😊
