So a brief guide to types for everyone: ATTACK TYPES: Primarily upper attacks (focuses on utilizing xtreme line to lift and xtreme finish your opponent). BALANCE TYPES: Smash Attacks and Destabilization DEFENSE TYPES: Counter Attacks (Much like King Helios) STAMINA TYPES: Spin Drain (Draining stamina from attacking beys).
Not really, it's not that simple. Upper and smash can both be for an attack type, balance doesn't *need* to be aggressive or a destabilizer, that's the point of a balance type. Defense isn't for counter attacking, that's just a type, it's called anti attack, and stamina isn't about stamina drain, it's again, kinda not that simple, it *can* stamina drain, but it can also just last longer. Stamina can also be about destabilization, heck it's a stamina concept if anything.
Pretty much, Top tier parts required little to no effort of using, which most competitive beyblade players do while Low tier parts have flaws but can still work and dominated given enough practices, techniques and effort into it.
After watching this I’ve tried angle launching stock knight shield and its performance has improved greatly against some top combos compared to flat launching, this doesn’t make defense types invincible but it uses the full potential of needle bits and it’s a super fun technique that requires the same bravery as using attack beys
Wow. That’s good to know. I already have such a hard time taking my Knightshield and my defense variant wizard arrow out with my attack types (DranSword and SharkEdge) and I’ve been working and drilling the launch techniques on those for A WHILE now and guess what? I’m using a string launcher for my defense types. I do have a ripcord launcher tho. Imagine that 😮
Absolutely bro! People are too caught up on what competitive bladers are saying which is all defense types are trash. Sure they may not be Meta, but they are still good if you can get the technique down right lol
Absolutely bro!! And thank you for that! That's what I have always tried to do with my channel is to show that every beyblade is good if used right and understand it!
Pretty convincing video but I think the real vindication of defense types would be to see them have success in tournaments , maybe you should join some seeing as most people don't have as much faith in defense types it could be a major niche for you .
I absolutely agree with you there!! I was thinking about that, I just have no official or any tournaments anywhere near me lol. All I can say is 8/10 times I can win against any attack type out there with any of the beys lol
Also, the hardest part for defense types in tournaments is tournaments are mostly comprised of stamina type builds, which will almost always win against a defense type, even in X
@zakariyapedersen5715 100% lol. The top main combos used in X tournaments rely on the Ball Bit and the Orb Bit and Wizard Rod blade. A few will use a shark Edge blade, and a few will use Phoenix Wing blade. However, they are mostly going to be a stamina build. The most dominant combo is wizard Rod 9-60 Ball which even an attack type struggles to even score 1 point off of, even though it is a stamina build.
@@leftspinbeys2 so these ball bit's actually have better stamina than spike bit's? Do you think the game would be balanced again without wizardrod blade?
Me just waiting for all the "competative" bladers to jump in with all their hate and toxicity! We all know they will hate this cause it doesn't follow their "professional" opinions! For the record I spent 6 hours yesterday with all my defense types and putting them against all my attack types, and once I got the angle down right, my defense types won literally almost every battle. Now against some of the Meta, like Tyranno Beat with Point or Rush, they struggled. But I was still able to pull off a several wins. They won 6 of 10 battles. So this video is perfection since it is unbiased and accurate! Thank you LSB!!
Hell yeah man!! I appreciate that! And that's awesome that you were able to take the time to apply this and learn it!! It really does work. A lot of the attack Meta in X will still make the defense types struggle, particularly the Tyranno Beat combo, but you can still win with proper strategy!
Ay no wrong or right in Beyblade man, all love ❤ I will say tho rouge combos are probably the most fun to battle with and or against. It's fun to make a sub par bey in the "mEtA" good.
@_Abdulziz506 there are toxic people in all genres lol. Beyblade has their fair share of toxic people in each generation. So they aren't wrong there. Pokemon has toxic people, yugioh has toxic people, it's normal haha
Amazing video as always!!! Everyone just jumps on whatever train some of these other beytubers start up. Some of these other channeks say one opinion as if it is fact because they just dont like whatever bey they are doing the video of. And everyone who follows them just jumps in it and starts hating it, then hates it when other people makes a video of that bey winning. Thats why i dont watch most other beyblade channels anymore. I just watch you, beybladegeeks, and illinuc. You guys are unbiased and not trying to push your opinions on others
Thank you bro!! I do my best not to be opinionated and if I have an opinion I try and say it is my opinion. Beyblade is fun and everyone should enjoy it. A lot of beytubers are becoming very toxic and don't realize their words and videos have power behind it, especially if they have a massive following
@sylodui I watch him every now and then but over all I unsubscribed from his channel because he can be very biased. It was actually him who made me feel like the only way I can be liked in the beyblade community is if I agree with him and his followers and liked the beys they liked or hate the beys they hated. But I love defense types and always have, but this video helped me feel better about it. Zankye is a good blader, but he states his opinions as facts and does have a lot of hate.
EXACTLY! Of course there's some truth to it all since this season is more attack oriented with the xtreme line sending beys into the biggest point finish being the extreme zone at 3 points. But to say something like Defense is trash or whatever else theyre biased on is so corny. Especially when theyre still good, proven here, they just had to be utilized properly. I do wish they had a bit more weight but oh well. From a business perspective they need to keep attack types on top this season otherwise the whole gimmick is almost pointless. Rocking Knight Shield in my deck though idec B)
Knight shield got me back into beyblade and I havnt played seriously since plastic gen! I just loved the design. I was VERY disappointed when finding out the internet said it was bad. After switching out some parts, I was blown away that my shield could beat out soar phoenix almost 100% of the time! I think you’re on to something here!
Knight Shield is the best defense type and my favorite X bey, well one of them lol. Defense types in X ate light weight for a reason and it all revolves around the way defense works in X, which is through counter attacks. The ventricular force and science is why they needed to be lighter than what they were in past generations. I'm making another video soon about the science of beyblades and how they work lol
I noticed this similarly when i was just messing around. i was just random launching beys at random angles to see what would happen when i first got my stadium, and at one point i happened to randomly launch Knight shield the right way to win every round for like 6 in a row. Took me a while to figure out wtf was actually happening.
What’s your favorite knight shield combo? I’m very intrigued in this video and stumbled on your combo. I have mostly a collection of attack types but now I’m curious about the defense types now
I think one big reason why defence types are lacking in X, is because most people usually run stamina builds. The stamina users play it super safe with those stamina types, and not many bladers have mastered the attack type yet. So it might be difficult for the defence type users to rely on that when majority of the players prefer to play with their stamina types. Full disclosure, i love defence beys I always go 2 attamk types nd one defence. Vipertail 360 needle is super reliable imo. Love the video, defence rise
Absolutely bro! I totally agree with you there. And that's awesome. I love defense types too. Beyblade X changed all types of beyblades. They all have different ways of launching in comparison to prior generations.
This video actually spelled out my problem with defense type beys currently. W/L% gets skewed by the point system. This video shows how defense types can outlast attack types and reliably win via spin out, but that is the least desirable result. This is the problem that Wizard Rod has as well, but it just wins so consistently that this doesn't matter much. The current "meta" for tournaments is Wizard Rod 9-60 (or 3/5-60) Ball, very likely a Phoenix Wing of some kind (60 ratchet with Point/Rush/Orb/etc), and then a third. The technique presented here won't help the defensive type beys outlast Wizard Rod. I think with the technique presented the matchup against Phoenix Wing would be pretty close W/L wise, but the weight of Phoenix Wing would probably result in more wins via Burst/Knockout. Ultimately I think with good technique from both sides this would be close but still favoring Phoenix Wing. That leaves the third bey. Some players run very aggressive attack types like Shark and Buster hoping to snag a few KO's on Rod. Into this matchup the defensive type beys would be favored but in this best case you're not aiming to score a lot of points. Conversely, against a more balanced Tyrano Beat or Hell Scythe the odds don't look as good. This is why there is a preference for using defensive blades on attacking combos something like Knight Shield 5-60 R. While they lack the firepower, they are less likely to be knocked out. Regardless this is a great video! I think it is also worth talking about where to aim your bey. Against right spinning beys, keeping your defensive bey on the left side gives an advantage as you can dodge the first X-treme attack, or even reverse ride the rail to stall. This is arena dependent though. I did all my practicing on the Hasbro arena only to learn that my locals use the TT one which behaves differently.
Very good analysis, bro! I appreciate that! Yes, the current meta will dominate the defense type, especially wizard Rod or any wizard Rod Combo. When it comes to weight, the design or the bey from TT HQ was meant to be light, the heavier the top half, the less likely you can win using a defense tip and launching st the correct angle. Needle and all it's variants rely on the initial throw around so they can come back much like a Shield Crash into the attack types. But I do agree with you. The point systems favor attack types better, and most attack types, though losing most rounds, can with 2 over finishes or extreme finish. Primarily this video was to show that defense types aren't bad and they are usable, and of the general stock combo for defensive and casual play, they are some of the most consistent and best types to use in Beyblade X. The Meta is focused pretty highly on stamina build or stamina blades, which is the defense types weakness. Phoenix Wing, Shark Edge, and Dran Buster can take some good solid wins against defense types with this method, but they still have a greater chance of losing if they do not land that first hit. Shark Edge is just the unsaid GOAT of beyblade x and can defeat anyone haha. But thank you bro! I appreciate the time and thought you put into the comment!
Hey shoutout to this video - I locked in my defence bey and manage to turn around a 3v1 point match and won the round. The bey also got me undefeated until the final round for top two for yesterday's tournament.
A frequent tournament participant here, the angled launch technique does work, but not very often, will work better if you angle it even more but it has the risk of bursting if enemy's bey hit you from the back. Sadly defense bey just don't have anything good at all in the competitive scene, pheonix wing and tyranno beat on rush/point can do too many barrage attacks and their stamina beats defense bey almost every single time because they are heavy and doesn't tip as easily.
Just got into Beyblade X and picked up Black Shells, noticed this very early on! Launching flat, the recoil was launching my defence beys out of the stadium but whenever I made them tilt the energy from the hits was pushing the bey down into the stadium due to the angle. That and launch power making a really big difference in how hard it can tank hits. Very interesting to see such rigorous testing though!
I really like Shinobi Shadow. The blader who uses it is really cool, and the bey itself is really fun to look at and to use. It always made me mad to hear everyone hating on it for being off balance and lightweight.
I absolutely love Shinobi Shadow bro, the lightweight design it has is difficult to master, but once you do, you can smoke beys like Phoenix and Buster all day long
This is great. I want to do a types video and strategies video. But right now I’m focusing on the basics of the launch on my channel. Love your work man Kepp it up!
Lot's of people don't even know they need to keep the launcher holding hand still and not thrust it forward so it's no wonder they don't know how to use it correctly. Even if they could learn techniques all the pros will just tell you not to use them because their echochamber rehashes this idea that all good defense types need to be super heavy from past gen experience. I don't think they are the secret to destroying all meta beys but they are definitely underutilized and unfairly brushed off far too quickly.
I totally agree with you there. It's good to know there a others out there who share similar thoughts and beliefs, thank you bro. However, defense can never break the current meta, one thing I did fail to establish with this video is in terms of stock combos. With the information in this video people now have a chance to be able to bring a defense bey into an official tournament with a better chance of winning. Custom and competitive combos will almost always out class stock combos unfortunately lol, but yes, defense beys are too easily brushed off due to other channels simply hating on them and telling others that they should hate them as well.
I'm so glad to read the comments saying this is good advice. I mained draciel back in the day, I love defensive blades. I have my league deck very defence/balance heavy ready for the first league night soon Phoenix wing 360 ball. Helm knight 380 point. Rounding off with probably dran dagger 960 taper for some agro.
Thank you man! I feel ya! I love defense types as well. That is awesome bro! Those are some good combos man!! I'm glad that my advice can help you out. Beyblade X is different. Weight does not matter. It's all on launch techniques and general physics of the spin as well as blade design 🔥
This video is actually educational about defence types from how the bit is supposed to work to some other explanation. I am getting tired of blader complaining about it. I need to be heavier, while I agree with this.. I also don't. I would say that Wizard Rod is just broken because it's so easy to use, Just launch (may be wrong cause I never bought Beyblade X Beys). Compared to something like Dran Buster, powerful hits but need proper tactics and ways to use them due to how unbalanced it is. Also, I like how to explain how the type works in X. Weight isn't always everything in X. Weight distribution and shaped are also important (Hells Scythe and Hells Chain are less than 34 grams but still are solid blades to use.) I can imagine it like a fighting game, there will always be one thing that is broken and some are outclassed or just hard to used currently. It's that Phoenix Wing revolutionised the heavy weight gram attack blades wherever since it's released, other attack blades are about 36-38, which kinda takes away what makes Phoenix Wing special honestly. While Wizard Rod completely dominated other defence and stamina usage that make other blades just look bad.
Also one thing to note, people who are confused about what each defense types are all about heres the list: Knight Shield/ helmknight: the extreme dash tank aka more defense is over counter attack KnightLance: the tall slammer aka more counter attack over extreme dash tank Rhinohorn: small but has a big explosion aka extreme dash counter (kinda like Fafnir's slowmo burst but it uses the recoil to snipe the ratchet when someone uses an extreme dash and make the opponent go unexpectedly get the self burst) Blackshell: Xtreme upper tank aka prevents upper attacks while tanking the extreme dashes without being fazed LeonCrest: aka the lions wall of claws aka a LITERAL WALL to tank everything and counter with its weight when Xtreme dashing Sphinx is similar to leoncrest (no need to explain that) And shinobi shadow, the light but a stubborn and smooth parry aka trades out heavy weight for a smooth shape to parry off attacks while being anchored by metal needle (which i kinda get but feels like it gets ragdolled too much and causes bit release) KnightMail might be a defense type that uses the gravity shift and tankiness to maintain defense (not sure but from what i heard)
Lol no they aren't. People are stuck on weight and in Beyblade X, weight has nothing to do with it anymore. It is about general physics and Wright distribution. All defensive types are strong in center gravity, meaning you can launch at an angle and allow for them to rotate and defend their ratchet. It's a game a physics now and understanding how the blade designs correlate with the bit design
i can agree with this. knightshield was beating most of my X beys when tilted and having the ratchet aligned where the bumps of the 3-80 ratchet exposed (when lined up with the damper). that makes knightshield more balanced
Hell yeah man! Concept works on all defense types! Their weight when it comes to the ventricular force and spin is meaningless when launched at the right angle 🔥
Heres my Take- My Favorite Defense type and Bey in X is Leon Crest and while I love what youre trying to do and give people launching techniques on Defense types in X as its not the types fault but how TT is handling them but it simply dosent work like how the video portrays or at least not as easy. the true problem is the fundamental design in these blades and their shapes, weights, needle bits which the needle bits do NOT improve Defense they only cause cause them to get even more unbalanced than they are so even if they tank attack types they probably wont even outspin them and its such a silly change TT did imo. if we look at Leon Crest which is 34.5-35g a respectable decent weight, thick round ratchet, circular shape and a thick shape now that is defense not for example Rhino Horn which has a super recoily shape,”compact defense” which does not work, weight of 32g and more exposed ratchet thanks to the compact shape.Ill admit that all these super heavy attack types have made this worse but its like TTs not even trying until Leon
True bro. It’s like Takara Tomy just abandoned their defense types. But no worries. We the people will make the most out of them. Especially us who love defense types as much as others love and rely on other types.
It actually makes a lot of sense that beyblade x would require different techniques than what some are used to. I think most people just discount high ratchets and defense types because they aren't meant to be used the same way
this is such an eye opening video, maybe I was wrong about the beyblade x anime and it actually brings some value to the real game EDIT: Bro did you just break the meta?!?!?🤣😭
Lol hell yeah man!! And no, not quite hahaha. The Meta is still pretty solid where it is at according to a few of my buddies, but it does give Defense types a chance of winning and shows that there isn't any bad beys in Beyblade X, only bad technique
I'm already impressed with the new Leon crest, I believe with Hexa, it could be surprisingly good if not decent 😊 That being said, my favorite defense type combo is HellsChain 9-60 Needle/High Needle, the shape of HellsChain is surprisingly solid all around, especially for defense 😄
I actually like the Defense types in this generation and one thing that I like is that the labeled typing doesn't always properly indicate the correct type. Long story short, I do think that we have some strong defensive beys but customization is key. Take Scythe Incendio on Ball for example.
Launching at an angel is a two sided blade because if the attack type hits the ratchet while you are tilted, that results in a easy burst finish And can you try launching the attack type flat while defense is tilted? Its much harder for attack types to get into the Extreme line if the are launched tilted
Yes, that's the risk you take, however the tilt is designed to be able to shield off the attacks by making the attacks hit the top of the blade rather than the side. And I sure can bro!! I released two shorts so far with a heavier attack type to go against this method for better demonstration lol
Interesting, I've seen most people state you want to light launch defense types due to risk of self KO. I guess that's why they are given the sharp tips
I don’t have Shinobi Shadow yet because of its weight and the fact that defense types are the “weakest” in the game right now. I’m starting to want to buy it now after watching this video.
@@leftspinbeys2I would love to buy shinobi shadow too but I’m iffy about that metal needle. It’s just something I don’t want to prevent stadium damage but it adds the little bit of weight to it that it already lacks a lot. I think I’ll just main Knightshield for my defense type
Hmm... This definitely gives viewers more insight on how to properly use defense in this gen. But it is still a bad thing that these Beyblades are incredibly light. That's why LeonCrest is a solid defense release because it's fairly heavier compared to the rest.
That is very true. The main gimmick for defense types relies on inner gravity and light weight. Kinda a double-edged sword. It'll either make them win or lose. If the defense beys were heavier the main gimmick of the needle bit would cause them to lose all stamina and cause them to self ko fairly frequently. I'm excited for Leon Crest and am looking forward to it. I should have it in sometime this week.
I miss the Draciel F I had as a kid, then my friend showed me Black Shell which looked similar. I want to start again once I got a hold of a Black Shell of my own.
@@leftspinbeys2 bought a Knightshield and Rhino Horn this week and I've noticed they have the same kind of ratchet, I need to change one of them to make a valid deck.
I've been trying to "hack" Defense types for weeks now, and this video has been very helpful. Thanks bro! Quick question though, what do you think of the Hexa bit? It's classified as Balance, but it feels like it's the best "Defense" bit right now. Have you used it for Defense-type beys, and do you launch it differently from other actual Defense bits?
That's awesome! I'm glad that it helped, bro!! The Hexa bit is an awesome bit to use for sure! Works great on a lot of defensive types. As a defensive type bey, however, it does make it very aggressive at times and can restrict the defensive capabilities it has. But for the most part. The Hexa bit works very well with most defense types. That bit does leave your defensive type beys open for upper attacks, bursts, and extreme finishes since you'll want to launch it flat and even without it becoming too aggressive and weakening the defense. To put it this way, the more aggressive your bey is, the weaker the defense
The best way I have found against stamina types is to launch flat. The central gravity of defense types can maintain very good stamina and chip away at the stamina of stamina types with some counter attacks.
Hell yeah man!! The anime is the #1 way TT shows us how beys function and work in real time. Beyblade X is more realistic in the way a bey performs in battle irl. But hell yeah man! I absolutely love Shinobi Shadow as well!
I do have to agree on 90% of all the beyblades EXCEPT THE UX SHINOBI. its too light weight and gets KO'D easily. The others i do get the factors of bad strategy with the eh weight but any defense types below 30 grams is a no go. This is my own opinion tho so yeh. But thx for the heads up on the secret of the defense types.
Hahaha thanks bro! If you watch my battle video between shinobi Shadow and dran Buster, that might change your mind. Shinobi Shadow won more rounds against dran Buster, but dran Buster scored more high scoring rounds, but they were toe to toe. But I feel yeah! Shinobi Shadow is very light!
@@leftspinbeys2 I mean it was in the stock combo, that’s why dranbuster loses to stamina too quickly and Shinobi would win in stamina or dranbuster self KOs or Self Extremes. But if we’re talking of competitive it’s a flipped story since it’s not going to be stock combo. Defense type don’t suck tho it’s just needs the best matchups to suit its gimmick and skill. And thx for agreeing with me about the UX Shinobi, the blade is 27-29 GRAMS and it’s light. The average weight of a blade (either be UX or BX) is 34.
@leftspinbeys I haven't been able to get much constructive help with a "defense" combo I've been having fun testing after watching your video, and I was hoping you'd be able to give me some input! It's a little odd since I'm currently using 5-70 High Needle... Roar Tyrano I feel like the metal is a little bulkier/chunkier than Phoenix wing which in my head makes me think it could have some defence to it, plus it has the thing everyone complains about... Weight, which I know you mentioned is not very important to a defence beyblade in this relaunch, but I figured it could still be interesting to play with that aspect :> I currently only have High Needle so I can't try too many things out and hope you could give me some recommendations or just your opinion!
The strategies you presented do work, but I wouldn’t say defense types are the best like the title would suggest. What’s stopping you from doing the same strat with a better STAMINA type blade
Well, with stamina beys, you need to launch flat and keep the ratchet from being exposed. But hey, that's the beauty of Beyblade. Never know what strat works until you try, lol. But thank you for chiming in, bro!
I feel people misunderstand what the Dot bit does. it doesn't increase friction it reduces it, most of the time Dot has less surface area in contact with the stadium than the Ball bits, it would only increase traction if it was soft enough rubber, like a tread. but its hard plastic so its reducing the surface area.
Actually that is incorrect. According to Takars Tomy, the dot bit is designed to increase Friction. The amount of dots causes it to actually have more surface contact than the needle bit, however with the placements of the dots it increases Friction. When you watch Takara Tomys release of Black Shell they discuss the purpose of the Dot Bit and it's function in the stadium.
@therjschannel904 that bit is solid for defense. It adds to the center gravity. Launching st the angle with the Winder launcher for the MN can make it almost unstoppable
Imo, defense type could be any beys, all it come down is combo, the reason why I think defense got bad of a reputation that it is is because of stock combo, some of the blades on here functionally better as other type than defense, like no one be look at Shinobi Shadow shape and weight and think that it's defense type blade when it's 100% is a stamina type blade, even if people got the right technique, the combo is still pretty important.
Hell yeah, man! Most of it is people attribute weight over weight distribution and function. And don't fully grasp the concept of how to use the needle bit and the needle bit variations. But I do like your thoughts my dude! Thank you for your input man!!
I feel the only problem with defense is the self burst when trying to Xtreme dash, similar to stamina types. Defense sometimes relies on counters where the attacker directs you to the xtreme line, but the xtreme dash is so fast that the bit bursts off😱
@JosephJoestarPants hahaha right?! I feel ya there. From my testing and experience so far, an xtreme dash for a defense type is kinda like a final move. Once it catches and rides the rail all it's stamina is gone so it's kinda like a "Go Big Or Go Home" sort of move.
Please I need your help! I’m getting back into beyblade. This video helped me out a lot and was wondering what is the best defense type for beyblade x !
Well, welcome to Beyblade X, bro!! And no worries, man!! So of the defense types, Knight Shield or Helm Knight is one, if not the best, the best defense type, in my opinion. Knight Lance is another that is pretty solid to have right away.
Ripcord all the way. Defense needs serious power and technicalities to launch. I would say, in my opinion and experience, defense types in X are the most technical types. String Launchers are good too for the control and practice of launching at the perfect angle
Good question! In terms of balance types or even stamina types, launching it flat and taking a solid position in the center can give you Edge. For balance types, it depends ultimately on the bit and whether they are early aggressors. VS post aggressors. So the Taper bit is hyper aggressive at first, then balances out for a stamina position at the end. Launching a defensive type at an angle could counter that pretty well. But against other defense types or even most stamina types, launching it flat will give you a better advantage because at that point it is more about stamina than it is defense due to the lack of attack power.
I'm doing some experiments this week with ratchet and bits for the defense types, but overall, so far, a 4-60, 5-80, and 9-80 are the best ones for a ratchet from the tests I've been able to run
Lol I can do that! Getting that angle can be tough especially since if you launch it too angled it will scrape and die and not enough, and the ratchet is still exposed enough for a direct hit
The thing is, people are used to having their defensive types weighing a lot, so they focus solely on how light weight they are. The main defensive gimmick for X relies on them being lightweight
@@leftspinbeys2 it's funny how it has changed, I would assume having them on an angle and spinning on the side of the needle bit would make them have less stamina. The anime had a good idea after you showed what defence types are capable of ^_________^
@GizmoHey hell yeah, man! If defense and stamina did not switch roles on how they function, you'd want to launch flat as possible. The needle bit and all its variations are designed for the angle. After enough heavy hits from attack types, they will balance out and stabilize when attack types are out of juice and power
this man speaks the truth! aint nobody care about your wizard rod or your aero pegasus or your stinky winky cobalt dragoon on elevate defense is the goat! Stock wise, knight shield solos the first og 4 x beys and phoenix wing, and if it solos stock wing with stock then it beats every stock attack with stock
So I’m a defense stand as well been trying to make it work. Was 50% successful. Do you think weight distribution is another problem for defense types? And I’ve always had success with atk types it was always balance types where I would lose ex PW 960 P
The way the weight is distributed in defense types in Beyblade X is exactly the way it should be. Any more weight in them will cause them to lose more frequently due to falling over, scraping, and self bursting. With defense types you have to master the launch and launch with full power. Trust me, you'll win lol
@@leftspinbeys2 i really like how beyblade x treats the game by using technique and strategy unlike burst which was kinda just launch your bey in the stadium
Pretty much. It all focuses on central gravity and the needle bit. Defense types do not have good outward distribution in weigh because they rely on the needle bit and getting that angle down so it rides on the side.
I like the point of this video a lot, but i feel like theres a lot of things incorrect in it that i want to point out. Needle bits arent really good. rush and hexa are both better for defense and maybe even point. None of the defense beys are good enough to stay stationary and tank hits. Now that *is* the strat you use, but youre launching attack terribly. Why are you launching from the bottom instead of the side? The box gimmicks don't really work like that unfortunately. Strengths is very important and so is positioning, thats cuz they have bad stamina. The issue is that it increases your own recoil and movement speed in the process, you take hits harder and such. This isnt your fault, but its also just very hard to test attack V defense due to the aforementioned precise positioning, which isnt going to be as realistical with one person. You gotta remember here, im a defense type defender for sure, favorite type in X probably. It sucks they arent that good, the big two exeptions are HellsChain and KnightSheild, but you gotta have a good setup like rush, tapered or hexa on you, *maybe* orb or ball in the right situations. Leon crest looks very promising tho, prolly gonna make defense bussin! Id argue KnightLance can play anti attack in the right circumstances, but thats kinda niche. No, if you want *real* defense, you gotta go to Phoenix Wing and Wizzard Rod, now *those* resist attack quite well.
Thank you for your input bro! I appreciate that man! The point of the video is to reiterate the science behind the Needle bit and how to properly use the defense type to show that they aren't as bad as people say, and to give some hope to those who love defense types but are discouraged by competative bladers who say don't buy defense types. I cam totally agree with you though! If you land an attack type in the right position it will win instantly!
@leftspinbeys2 the issue with the science of the needle bit is that it just doesn't work and never has. In metal fight, you had the "defense" line of tips, cone shaped like high needle. Plastic friction isnt all that effective, but the small contact point and wide bases meant those worked for stamina at least. Sadly here, we face the issue of needle being at too steep an angle to do more than quicker counter attacks. It won't really be good enough to resist stuff without the good positioning. There is actually one bit which does do needle's gimmick right, and that's Hexa. It's that same cone, but it's wider and has the hexagonal texture on the bottom for extra friction. That, and it has increased burst resistance due to it technically being a ballance bit. Needle technically works here, but that's more the launch I think, but I'll be honest and say it could only work with needle like that, I'm not sure. I plan on getting better at the tech myself and seeing how it goes in tournament if it ends up working in practice.
@leftspinbeys2 and hey, no hate and such, I actually really appreciate the message and technique, getting your knowledge out there is awesome even if it doesn't line up with someone else's, all that matters is what works for ya and having fun! We all test differently, and we all find different stuff, keep up the good stuff!
@bladekidWBO First off, I actually appreciate you! Lol it's nice to be able to have a discussion without someone just spitting hate and malice because only they can be right and no one else. So yes! The launch plays a massive deal in defense types and the needle bit. The hexa bit, oh man, that is such a solid defense bit and shouldn't be considered a balance type bit since the function is the same as the needle bit, to am extent. Hexa's issue is, if you launch it at the angle defense types need to be able to protect the ratchet and prevent attack types from getting up and under it, sets the gimmick of the hexa bit off which is being aggressive. But for defense and stamina, the hexa bit is solid for sure. Through out the week I'll be releasing a couple shorts with some heavier attack types and more battles, but will be using my dual launcher for them to show that this technique works very good. But like I said, it doesn't make them Meta by any means, just makes them useful and enjoyable once more for people who love defense types, but competative bladers telling them not to waste their money cause they suck lol
@bladekidWBO you the man bro!! I love hearing others opinions and strategies and just their thoughts in general. It is what makes the beyblade community so great.
I went on 2 tournaments with Shinobi Shadow 1-80 Spike and was very good. It can dodge attacks very easily and perry alot of them. My only problem with Shinobi Shadow is how inflexible the blade is due to the weight. For me the blade only works for 1-80 ratchets and gets tossed around alot. It's good for bursting or outspinning beys.
Hell yeah man! That's awesome to hear!! So shinobi Shadows weight is key. It does, unfortunately, make the MN the best option for it. Because you want that center gravity and the MN focusing it more for Shinobi, it makes Shinobi Shadow capable coming back with some narly counter attacks, especially mixed with the 1-80 ratchet.
I'm only watching this to learn how to counter a Defense type. Best defense is a good offense. Edit: So the Defense type uses physics tricks to overcome the lack of weight in stock form then?
That is correct! Having a super heavy blade defeats the purpose of the center gravity of the bey. If the weight was too high, being able to maintain balance while rotating at an angle would be almost impossible without draining all stamina.
@@leftspinbeys2 My inner contrarian makes me want to specialize in Defense types just to snub the "meta" opinion that Defense is bad. If a game meta stays stagnant for too long it's not good for the life of the game, after all.
I'm not convinced. I see your points on how defense can be good, but even with your advice, they're garbage because of their poor weight, balance, designs, and burst resistance.
Weight distribution is more prevalent than weight. I appreciate your honesty and input though bro! To put it this way, with this technique and actually using the defense type the way they are meant to be used, I can beat any attack type, including Tyranno Beat, Phoenix Wing and Dran Buster with any of the defense type, granted Tyranno Beat and Phoenix Wing is a struggle since that's where the weight difference makes an impact lol
@@leftspinbeys2 Even if I use defense types the "correct way", their inbalace cause them to have terrible restablization. It also depends on the opponent, as for example, BlackShell beat DranBuster due to it's poor stamina and balance. But lets take PhenixWing for example, which is the direct opposite, as it is very stable. When battling, more than likely, BlackShell gets cooked.
@xavierocasio6698 actually I have a black shell VS Phoenix Wing short coming out tomorrow and black shell smoked Phoenix Wing lol. But I feel ya my dude. I understand. The point of this video was not to say defense types are The Meta, but rather they are actually really, really good if you actually use them the way Takara Tomy designed them to be used. Their light weight is scientific. If they weighed more, like that of Tyranno Beat or Phoenix Wing, or even Cobalt Dragoon, the gimmick of the Needle Bit wouldn't function right and they will lose no matter technicality. It is all about more center gravity and center ventricular force rather than outward weight distribution. A Barrage Defense can't properly work under heavier weighted circumstances without burning itself out entirely.
@xavierocasio6698 I'm excited for Leon Crest though! It's a hamburger hahaha. But hey man, I appreciate being able to have a discussion with someone and debate without someone getting butt hurt lol. I appreciate you!
@beyblader_mx probably not competative But the point of the video is to showcase that defense types are actually good. Too many people discarded them as trash without using them. Curre try the Meta is set. Whether someone can make it to championship titles with a defense type, is all on skill and luck lol. But this video was made to give those people a chance to feel like they can use their favorite type of beyblades confidently
Isn't the best bey a stamina type right now? So your opinion is invalid. You're actually part of the problem, pushing attack types as the only option. 🤦👍
Thank you, bro, and no, it's no propaganda, lol. Beyblade X is different than previous generations in almost every aspect aside from the fact that you're launching a bey into battle against another. Defense types rely on angled launches and general physics to be able to tank and outclass attack types with ease. Weight plays a very insignificant part in how defense types work. If you launch a defense type against an attack type with a flat launch, 1 of 3 things will guarantee to happen: 1) The attack type will burst you with the ratchet being exposed 2) You will be sent flying around and lose all stability, resulting in a spin finish, or in most cases straight into the pocket. 3) You will be lifted and xtreme finished. Beyblade X implements 4 physic concepts into the game on top of the general physics and science of beyblade called "Rational Mechanics" or "Rigid Body Dynamics. BUT the one thing that is always taken into consideration is actual game play. With the 4 other physics concepts in Beyblade X, a stronger bey can break the other beys form. Game play is always different for everyone. What I like to promote on my channel is for people to explore themselves and try to open up the windows for those being told to only use one type, or to not use this type, or whatever. All beys are good, in the right hands. The other thing for my channel and my new series called Bey-Ducation is that these are all points brought up from Takara Tomy on how they were designed and how they were intended to be used. Most of the time, that may not translate into a solid victory because once more, in Beyblade X, physics concept number 4, Impact Dynamic Science, can make anything possible. But yeah! These lessons are good for people just starting beyblade, and just trying to get it figured out. So far had quite a few come back and say thank you for their tournament win using defense only decks.
@ hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm a lot of text for something that ISN’T propaganda All jokes aside I do really like gear needle, even tho I only have a printed version. Hex is cool! Tho I made a Wide Defence bit without gears just like from MF and that’s a lot of fun
@jliong128 alli feel ya bro! Keep an eye on tomorrow's short, I am going to be doing a few shorts demonstrating it. Tomorrow I have Phoenix Wing and Sphinx Cowl. I appreciate your comment bro!
We need to start a conversation. In your tests no one of the attack bey catch the X-Rail and no one launch an attack bey slow in the center of the stadium. I love defense type but you make an useless test. If the defense bey is right in the center and the attack bey are shoot in the right manner he can catch the rail and go like an anvil with the speed of a bullet right in the center of the stadium and the defense bey are easily shoot over the stadium (or shoot on the X-rail and lost all the stamina). You need to prove your angolation with a real battle. P.s. The music in the video is too loud and cover your voice.
@@leftspinbeys2 i have read my message and it seem aggressive but in reality I only have a bad English sorry. XD I really appreciate if you can make a video with other tests and try to fight versus the actually best combos in the meta. And, if you can make a list of parts for a competitive defense type in the hasbro format it is really good.
So a brief guide to types for everyone:
ATTACK TYPES: Primarily upper attacks (focuses on utilizing xtreme line to lift and xtreme finish your opponent).
BALANCE TYPES: Smash Attacks and Destabilization
DEFENSE TYPES: Counter Attacks (Much like King Helios)
STAMINA TYPES: Spin Drain (Draining stamina from attacking beys).
Battle shorts with defense tactics:

So its basically “there is no bad beyblades, it just bad tactic”
Absolutely! That's the best way tp put it!!
Yesss!!! thank you. People keep thinking it’s all combos and Rng
Pretty much, Top tier parts required little to no effort of using, which most competitive beyblade players do while Low tier parts have flaws but can still work and dominated given enough practices, techniques and effort into it.
It takes strategies and time but that's half the fun of the game
@@MirunzX well.. if i try use rhinohorn i will still lose no matter what no bey spirit can save me HAHA.
After watching this I’ve tried angle launching stock knight shield and its performance has improved greatly against some top combos compared to flat launching, this doesn’t make defense types invincible but it uses the full potential of needle bits and it’s a super fun technique that requires the same bravery as using attack beys
Hell yeah bro! That's what I'm talking about lol! Glad it worked out for you man!!
Imagine that 😮
I was telling my friends that people are sleeping on knight shield.
and I fully agree, technique is very important.
Absolutely bro! People are too caught up on what competitive bladers are saying which is all defense types are trash. Sure they may not be Meta, but they are still good if you can get the technique down right lol
at this point, I'm convinced you can win with just about any Beyblade, if you know what to do.
@@leftspinbeys2 oh I see . So the real problem with X isn't defense types being useless but stamina types being OP .
Narwhal and leon crest:
Don't worry we will charge this heavy weight
Can't wait for either of those two beys!!
Whale is balance
don't get hung up on types but you're right
You're the first beyblade UA-cam I've seen that is able to use the defense type and give usable advice. Thanks, keep up the awesome work!
Thank you bro!! I seriously appreciate that man!!
Damn it was the angled launch all along!
As well as launching as hard as possible while maintaining control, but the angle is key! Hell yeah!
Yea your blade acts as a shield and doesnt allow your opponent to hit it that hard.
(9:18) Lol I was about to comment, in the anime I noticed there's a way that the defense bey users launch their beys XD
Haha hell yeah! The anime is the best source to see how TT intended the designs of the beys to be used for sure!
Ay no wrong or right in Beyblade man, all love ❤
I will say tho rouge combos are probably the most fun to battle with and or against. It's fun to make a sub par bey in the "mEtA" good.
@ghasmage8819 hell yeah! That's what my channel is all about! No right or wrong! Thank you bro!
what? toxicity? c’mon now dude what are you saying?
What about zankey
As a Rhino Horn enjoyer, I love this!
Hell yeah man! Glad to hear that!!
Full disclosure, i love defence beys
I always go 2 attamk types nd one defence.
Thank you bro!! And that is awesome man, I am so glad that this actually helped and helped give more respect to Beyblade X Defense types!
Thank you bro! I appreciate you jumping in with this!
Hell yeah man! That's awesome bro! And thank you bro!
I really like Shinobi Shadow. The blader who uses it is really cool, and the bey itself is really fun to look at and to use. It always made me mad to hear everyone hating on it for being off balance and lightweight.
I absolutely love Shinobi Shadow bro, the lightweight design it has is difficult to master, but once you do, you can smoke beys like Phoenix and Buster all day long
I like how you pull the string launcher, it looks strong, steady & unique
Thank you!! I appreciate that!
This is great. I want to do a types video and strategies video. But right now I’m focusing on the basics of the launch on my channel. Love your work man Kepp it up!

@LeftMindedThoughts hell yeah bro!!!
Fantastic video. The explanation, the breakdown, the history, and instruction on how to adapt our technique. Everything was well done. Thanks!
Thank you man, I seriously appreciate that!
I'm so glad to read the comments saying this is good advice.
I mained draciel back in the day, I love defensive blades.
I have my league deck very defence/balance heavy ready for the first league night soon
Phoenix wing 360 ball.
Absolutely bro! I feel ya there man! Thank you for this my dude!
Also one thing to note, people who are confused about what each defense types are all about heres the list:
Knight Shield/ helmknight: the extreme dash tank aka more defense is over counter attack
KnightLance: the tall slammer aka more counter attack over extreme dash tank
Rhinohorn: small but has a big explosion aka extreme dash counter (kinda like Fafnir's slowmo burst but it uses the recoil to snipe the ratchet when someone uses an extreme dash and make the opponent go unexpectedly get the self burst)
Blackshell: Xtreme upper tank aka prevents upper attacks while tanking the extreme dashes without being fazed
LeonCrest: aka the lions wall of claws aka a LITERAL WALL to tank everything and counter with its weight when Xtreme dashing
Sphinx is similar to leoncrest (no need to explain that)
And shinobi shadow, the light but a stubborn and smooth parry aka trades out heavy weight for a smooth shape to parry off attacks while being anchored by metal needle (which i kinda get but feels like it gets ragdolled too much and causes bit release)
KnightMail might be a defense type that uses the gravity shift and tankiness to maintain defense (not sure but from what i heard)
Awesome list and great way of explaining it bro! Thank you for sharing man!
shinobi shadow is light and has metal needle because it's supposed to encourage mobile defense, defending by dodging or moving to reduce impact
Ah, so defense types aren't complete garbage. Good to know.
Heres my Take-
My Favorite Defense type and Bey in X is Leon Crest and while I love what youre trying to do and give people launching techniques on Defense types in X as its not the types fault but how TT is handling them but it simply dosent work like how the video portrays or at least not as easy. the true problem is the fundamental design in these blades and their shapes, weights, needle bits which the needle bits do NOT improve Defense they only cause cause them to get even more unbalanced than they are so even if they tank attack types they probably wont even outspin them and its such a silly change TT did imo.
if we look at Leon Crest which is 34.5-35g a respectable decent weight, thick round ratchet, circular shape and a thick shape now that is defense not for example Rhino Horn which has a super recoily shape,”compact defense” which does not work, weight of 32g and more exposed ratchet thanks to the compact shape.Ill admit that all these super heavy attack types have made this worse but its like TTs not even trying until Leon
I appreciate your take, bro! Thank you for that, man!
@@leftspinbeys2 No problem man I like videos like this and I look forward to more like maybe an in depth on Stamina types maybe? Or Attack
True bro. It’s like Takara Tomy just abandoned their defense types. But no worries. We the people will make the most out of them. Especially us who love defense types as much as others love and rely on other types.
Seriously the best video ever!
Lol hell yeah! Thank you man!!
It actually makes a lot of sense that beyblade x would require different techniques than what some are used to. I think most people just discount high ratchets and defense types because they aren't meant to be used the same way
Hell yeah! You get it! Beyblade X Changes not just defense, but all types and their techniques used
this is such an eye opening video, maybe I was wrong about the beyblade x anime and it actually brings some value to the real game
EDIT: Bro did you just break the meta?!?!?🤣😭
Lol hell yeah man!! And no, not quite hahaha. The Meta is still pretty solid where it is at according to a few of my buddies, but it does give Defense types a chance of winning and shows that there isn't any bad beys in Beyblade X, only bad technique
@@leftspinbeys2 oh okay still really cool though
Hell yeah, thank you bro!! I really appreciate that man!
I'm already impressed with the new Leon crest, I believe with Hexa, it could be surprisingly good if not decent 😊

Hell yeah man!! I can't wait to get my Leon Crest bro! Should be in this week some time!!
I actually like the Defense types in this generation and one thing that I like is that the labeled typing doesn't always properly indicate the correct type. Long story short, I do think that we have some strong defensive beys but customization is key. Take Scythe Incendio on Ball for example.
Totally agree with you there! The Customization changes things a lot. I'll be having another video about that in the future with Pseudo Types 🔥🔥
After watching your video made my new new Leon claw defense combo it’s so sick
Nice bro!! Hell yeah, that's what I like to hear!!
May I know what defense combo are you using for Leon Claw?
Launching at an angel is a two sided blade because if the attack type hits the ratchet while you are tilted, that results in a easy burst finish
And can you try launching the attack type flat while defense is tilted? Its much harder for attack types to get into the Extreme line if the are launched tilted
Yes, that's the risk you take, however the tilt is designed to be able to shield off the attacks by making the attacks hit the top of the blade rather than the side. And I sure can bro!! I released two shorts so far with a heavier attack type to go against this method for better demonstration lol
Rhino horn really got me into Beyblade X and I cannot wait to get Black Shell

Interesting, I've seen most people state you want to light launch defense types due to risk of self KO. I guess that's why they are given the sharp tips
Hell yeah man!!
I don’t have Shinobi Shadow yet because of its weight and the fact that defense types are the “weakest” in the game right now. I’m starting to want to buy it now after watching this video.
Defense types are so good in X. It's all on how to use them and mastering that needle angle 🔥🔥
Use 1-60 GN
Hell yeah man! Draciel was my first ever beyblade back in the day as well. Black Shell is absolutely amazing and very underrated
@@leftspinbeys2 bought a Knightshield and Rhino Horn this week and I've noticed they have the same kind of ratchet, I need to change one of them to make a valid deck.
Knight Shield, although light, is the best defense type of Beyblade X before the release of Leon Crest.
Hell yeah! I can't wait for Leon Crest to get to my studio!
I too enjoy defence types. Good vid 👍
Hell yeah man! And thank you bro!!
@leftspinbeys2 of course dude. This video seems to be doing good numbers. Beyblade x is a really great system, I hope it brings you many views. 🙏
@yucatansuckaman5726 I appreciate it man!!
What's the strategy for defense types against stamina types? They technically have the type advantage, but obviously that doesn't mean much anymore.
The best way I have found against stamina types is to launch flat. The central gravity of defense types can maintain very good stamina and chip away at the stamina of stamina types with some counter attacks.
Got that in mind when I run Leon Crest with Hexa
Hell yeah man!! I'm excited for Leon Crest 🔥🔥
this is pretty useful! would there be any other video covering other type of launch for attack, stamina and balance type as well?

Roar Tyrano
I feel like the metal is a little bulkier/chunkier than Phoenix wing which in my head makes me think it could have some defence to it, plus it has the thing everyone complains about... Weight, which I know you mentioned is not very important to a defence beyblade in this relaunch, but I figured it could still be interesting to play with that aspect :>
I currently only have High Needle so I can't try too many things out and hope you could give me some recommendations or just your opinion!
Hell yeah man! It's all about experimenting and figuring out a tactic that works for you!!
knight shield is my favorite
Hell yeah man!! I love Knight Shield bro
@@leftspinbeys2 that's what they say it does but it does not look to be doing that in practice.
@@Sgt.chickens no it does, especially when worn
The launch at an angle kind of makes sense.
Hell yeah! The design of the needle bit is for that which also protects the ratchet and repels the heavy attacks
This is really informative. Thank you for this.

Which launcher do you recommend for launching Defense Types with? Winder or string?
For defense, hands down Winder launcher. You want to maximize the power as much as possible
@@leftspinbeys2 gotcha! Also any advice for launching a bey with the Metal Needle bit or is that hit just waaaay to risky to use?
@therjschannel904 that bit is solid for defense. It adds to the center gravity. Launching st the angle with the Winder launcher for the MN can make it almost unstoppable
@@leftspinbeys2 sick. Although I’d have to be careful correct? I’ve heard this thing breaking stadiums by puncturing holes into em
Went to a tourney and had stock knight shield in my deck, I beat things like shark phoenix and buster, ITS THE TACTIC!
That is awesome bro!! I'm really happy that worked for you my dude! Hell yeah!!
I have always glazed defense types
Lol hell yeah!!
Would you say String or Ripcord is better for defense types?
Ripcord all the way. Defense needs serious power and technicalities to launch. I would say, in my opinion and experience, defense types in X are the most technical types. String Launchers are good too for the control and practice of launching at the perfect angle
What do you think will be the best thing to do if you are forced into battling any other type then an attack type whilst playing defense?
Good question! In terms of balance types or even stamina types, launching it flat and taking a solid position in the center can give you Edge. For balance types, it depends ultimately on the bit and whether they are early aggressors. VS post aggressors. So the Taper bit is hyper aggressive at first, then balances out for a stamina position at the end. Launching a defensive type at an angle could counter that pretty well. But against other defense types or even most stamina types, launching it flat will give you a better advantage because at that point it is more about stamina than it is defense due to the lack of attack power.
@@leftspinbeys2 Awesome, thanks for the great response! Can't wait to get my first defense type bey, never had one before

I didn't have Beyblade X yet but I had a feeling people are using them the wrong way.
The thing is, people are used to having their defensive types weighing a lot, so they focus solely on how light weight they are. The main defensive gimmick for X relies on them being lightweight

The way the weight is distributed in defense types in Beyblade X is exactly the way it should be. Stock shell is still somehow good
All depends on how you use the bit, but yes, stock Shell is good in my opinion!
So I just launch it like a attack type from burst?
Pretty much. It all focuses on central gravity and the needle bit. Defense types do not have good outward distribution in weigh because they rely on the needle bit and getting that angle down so it rides on the side.

We getting L-drago!!!!!
Hell yeah bro! I'm so excited man!!
How to use leon crest best
I should have my Leon Crest soon! Can't wait for it!
I take it back, as Zankye's LeonCrest is over 35 grams, so maybe now defense types can valid.

@@leftspinbeys2 yeah maybe solid but there's no way a defense bey make it into a competitive deck lol

But the point of the video is to showcase that defense types are actually good.
Very interesting points you bring up but sounds to me like defence propaganda
Thank you, bro, and no, it's no propaganda, lol. Beyblade X is different than previous generations in almost every aspect aside from the fact that you're launching a bey into battle against another. Defense types rely on angled launches and general physics to be able to tank and outclass attack types with ease. Weight plays a very insignificant part in how defense types work. If you launch a defense type against an attack type with a flat launch, 1 of 3 things will guarantee to happen:
1) The attack type will burst you with the ratchet being exposed
2) You will be sent flying around and lose all stability, resulting in a spin finish, or in most cases straight into the pocket.
