New Update! Genshin 2 is Officially Confirmed!? Release Date, MC, Lore Speculations - Genshin Impact

Recently, the developers of Genshin Impact officially hinted at the second part of the game.
so today, I will talk about what we know regarding Genshin 2. I'll talk about what type of game it will be, potential main characters, and speculate on where and when the story might unfold.
Let's start with the most crucial information, which is the announcement of the second part.
Xiao Luohao, the head of the writing team, had a discussion with students at a university.
Allow me to quickly summarize his response: the game's story is only one-third revealed to players by the conclusion of the Fontaine story; there is much more content ahead. Despite the project's story not being completed for a while yet, we have all the resources to continue it in the form of the second part of the game.
I think that's quite a hint from the developers, isn't it?
Now, let's talk about when the second part of the game might be released. Firstly, we know that we still have at least three more regions: Natlan, Snezhnaya, and the ruined Khaenri'ah. All of these will likely appear in the first part of the game. Also, we know that Natlan is scheduled to be released by the end of this summer, and typically, regions are released once a year. Theoretically, the story in Genshin should end in the year 2027.
So, the second part of the game should be released around the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028, which is approximately 3-4 years from now, and the journey ahead is far from over.
Who is going to be the main character?
I don't think there's much to discuss here since in games from miHoYo, we play as faceless characters. What I mean is that often the MC of their games are not familiar with the game universe, and by the time the story begins, they know as little about the world as we do.
So let me speculate on who the main character might be and where the main story will take place.
The first option: the new storyline might be a prequel, meaning they will tell us what happened in Teyvat before the arrival of the Traveler and perhaps even before Celestia. We will play as characters that can be learned about from legends in the current lore.
The second option is neither a sequel nor a prequel. The plot's setting could be entirely different - on another continent or even on a planet colonized by other people, similar to Teyvat. Why not explore colonizing other planets with completely different characters, legends, laws of physics, and magic, rather than sticking solely to elements? It might be similar to honkai impact 3rd.
Well, or just make a regular sequel. But playing as the Travelers this time might not be very exciting.
And of course, let's say that when they announce Genshin 2, they will offer a variety of rewards for the first time and free pulls. So let's eagerly await the release of Genshin 2 and the reward in the form of 3 pulls!

I’m sure they will. It’ll most likely be on the same app and just call it Genshin Part 2 Chapter 1: Act 1 on a new continent. Also it’s a good topic to talk about because Genshin is halfway done, making profit, and really popular still. Also if Wurthering Waves hit it off Genshin could see them a future competitor unlike Tower of Fantasy and take more risk.

That's probably the point. By separating the game into 2 parts you can have a smaller game. Remember how old games had multiple discs? It might be like that. You uninstall Genshin part 1 and only play Genshin part 2 after that.
His answer doesn't sound like Genshin 2 for me at all. Clearly the story telling will pick up a pace from Natlan on and so far we only learned one third of the story so far in Fontaine, his words, which makes sense given how much is still unanswered in game, like the Hexenzirkel, Venti Archon quest pt2, the Dark Sea, Dainsleif playable, Khaenriah, Natlan, Snezhnaya, Celestia, Mondstadt expansions, More Liyue expansions, Inazuma expansions, there's A LOT MORE to come still in Genshin Impact. I think you're tripping his answer means Genshin 2 but that's my take.
And more sumeru expansions, we sure need more dessert areas 🤣

Even if it didn't, a part 2 is still inevitable if the game's still doing good. Money talks. There has been no series in God's green Earth that was prematurely stopped right when it was making alot of money, granted with the right manpower available. Genshin can and will enter a part 2 if it's still making alot of money

I guess the 2nd part might focus on Descenders and the story might take place in the entire Universe with different planets to explore and new elements for characters. :D
I'm gonna guess Genshin 2 is (technically) a sequel, and likely when traveller got their powers back and actually moved onto another world
I think it would be nice to continue with Lumine/Aether since it's probably a prequel.
It would be fun, for example, if you choosed Lumine in the first part, you would play as Aether (Lumine-Aether/ Aether-Lumine). Just my opinion tho :D

Personally it would be interesting if Genshin 2 was the journey of the twin who if I remember correctly started their journey in Khanriah(forgot how to spell it) and as we all know, we can't visit Kanriah or atleast Kanriah when it wasn't destroyed. We could start in Kanriah and see it get destroyed then travel from nation to nation again but with abyss powers.

From what I can remember, they said that the part 2 will still take place in Teyvat but there’ll be a time skip after the main story. How long would the time skip will be was, no answer. But it will take place sometime after part 1.
Hopefully we get to keep progress and it would be cool if it was a prequel and it changes your sibling to the other one and you get to play through their life and how they ended up in their situation

if there will be a genshin 2 i want it to explore the dark sea and i want to play as both travellers that can be switched like how furina switches from pneuma and ousia and i want them to be as strong as they were in their original powers. 😀
I think it would be more like hsr is with the whole traveling to different worlds except the mc will still be the twins (I like playing as the twins), you would be able to fly around (with stam limit) and use the light element cuz it would be cool
I read somewhere there are 2 or 3 more elements coming to genshin. That sounds exciting to get a part 2 like how Honkai has one.
Nahida had mentioned that well are the "fourth descender" so maybe if it i's a prequel then the Mc will be first Descender
I think the 2nd part might be the story of the other twin and since lumine for directly summoned in khaenriah we might adventure as lumine backwards and we might even see the archon war
It would be cool if you could play as the other twin. Yk when the unknown god attacked the twins, one of them got caught and the other(us/protagonist) woke up after 500 years in teyvat. I really wish to play as the other twin, unfolding what happened before 500 years, what happened to Khaenria, .... in the perspective of the other twin. If it goes like that then Dainslief will be playable then.
if after fontaine, the story is to be 1/3 done, i doubt there's only nathan, snaznaya and kaenrhia. a 4th region would also be required. my guess would be either somewhere in the abyss or at celestia.
thing is, at that point, it would mean only 2/3 of the full story would be covered. what of the remaining part?
for a long time, i've speculated that the honkai star rail story would eventualy meet the story of genshin impact. maybe that last part would be the ending of genshin impact, but also a side story to honkai star rail with the ending of genshin having the twins (lumine/either) boarding the express as nameless. maybe the twins would become aeons themselves.
I think that they will probably have us play as the other twin - something contemporaneous with the current game but from a different POV. We will start when we land on Teyvat, and then the other twin will remain sleeping, and we will experience Kae'nriah (spelling might be off), and a Teyvat that hasn't been destroyed by war. All the ruins will be new, and the archons will be young / the former archons. That's what I think. I'm not sure I'll still be playing by then - but if I am, I will be F2P for sure. Hoyo don't care about me, unfortunately. As a paying customer, you'd think they'd at least listen a little more... but NO. lol

I don't think it's a separate game, just that more of the story will be revealed in 2nd half (so next 3-4 years)
He just sounded like he was trying to encourage everyone that they are picking up pace and there's even more content planned - in other words, the game isn't dying, it's ramping up (which makes sense since ppl keep talking about Genshin dying off and in the face of upcoming competition)
I just hope the 1/3 doesn't mean we'll have to wait for 8 more year to get the answer to the following question : "when will he reunite with his sister?"

In fact in a post on HoYoLAB hoyoverse either asked if we wanted to be able to make new outfits or customize a character which could be hinting at that coming in the future.

If i were to choose the story for part 2, it would sound something like when aether and lumine confront each other in celestia and sibling says, "What do you know about my struggles, huh" or something like that when heavenly principles are attacking those two and they are in a conflict, and part 1 ends.
part 2 should be then following sibling's side of story and how they became the abyss prince and why they are not the descendents. Then at the end of the second part, those two are fighting against the heavenly principles and defeat them to save tevyat.
If it’s an entirely new game I hope they make it more multiplayer friendly like an mmo where many players share one server. Like how ToF did it.
Maybe just maybe part 2 might focus on the story of the Traveller's twin.

it probably won’t be a separate game, they’ll probably just add a whole new place like how you have mondstadt, liyue, sumeru, etc. so then you could keep all the characters, which comes along with a bundle of new characters, they might continue with the storyline or just make a whole new one completely to do with the traveler, but i’m not sure 🤔
I feel like it would be really fun if we played as the normal traveler and there be some plot twist or a new goal we would get to do like we find out our sibling is in a whole different world almost like honkai star rail with all the different planets since I don’t really want to keep wishing on stuff and we could keep the characters we already own idk this is just my idea since I quite like genshin impact and its characters already
I’m sure they’d keep it all in the same game but to say we’re only a part in means that there will be plenty more unexplored places to come than Natlan, Snezhnaya, Khaenriah and Celestia. Which means much more than 4 years worth of content.

I don't think players have to worry about losing their Teyvat characters, since we already do exactly this in _HSR_ .
The 'faceless MC' is broken in _GunGirlZ_ and _Honkai Impact 3rd_ where we play as Kiana Kaslana, Raiden Mei, and Bronya Zeychik. _ZZZ_ 's protagonists, Wise and Belle, may have stronger personalities than the Traveler, more similar to the Trailblazers, Caelus and Stelle.

No one knows. And don’t let all the negative people worry you. People hear about change and immediately panic, for all we know they might actually do a fantastic job and it far exceeds everyone’s expectations. It might address things we always wanted but they weren’t able to do, we don’t know. Best to wait and not panic this is years and years away

If genshin 2 actually happens, here's what I think will come: (might be so entirely wrong 💀)
1. New pulling system
2. Less characters
3. Khaenri'ah (the one before the war, also I don't know what war took place there so I might be wrong)
4. New currency
It would be nice to be a character in Khaenri'ah and see how they used to live there before the war (Characters like Dainsleif, Kaeya, Albedo [the ones who were already in Khaenri'ah])
Maybe the main character is the other twin, like how the other twin became the prince/princess of the abyss, or the twin's journey with dainsleif, maybe genshin 2 will be about celestia, maybe it will be about the real world out there the one not so upside down (1:44)
(2:00) people want their existing characters to be playable, but what if g2 takes place in the past or future, it wouldn't make sense if hoyo made our existing characters playble, maybe some archons but that's about it

the gods that lost in the archon war fled to the dark sea so it would be really interesting to see how thing are outside Teyvat out of the sevens control, and see if the gods that didn’t die outside Teyvat rule over certain places now

I think the second part should be Aether and/or Lumine world hopping to a brand new world again. That's the whole premise of their characters, is that they world hop to whole new worlds.

From the very moment MHY revealed Part II for Honkair Impact 3rd, I instantly knew, they will treat Genshin Impact the same way and had a strong gut feeling, that this game will be turned into some kind of huge trilogy.

Bro- Genshin pt 2 should be about where you play as the opposite twin and see what happened. (So for example if you played as Aether in 1st Genshin, then you would play as Lumine as the abyss princess)
