This is part of a series I’m doing discussing the possibility of Great white sharks in British seas, If this is your first visit consider checking out the other videos on sightings, encounters, food sources, sea temperature etc 🤘🦈
We got dolphins in blackpool filmed just yesterday and where theres dolphins theres sharks 🦈
Just give it up pal
@@rogueplanet13Haha yeah you couldn't be more wrong, we have seals off the coast of Ireland yet no sharks.
@@winterfell2650 your tripping bro look up what sharks are in the irish sea theres some savage ones
@@winterfell2650 Due to Ireland's position on the edge of the continental shelf and a wide range of marine habitats along our coastline means that we are lucky to have a large number of highly diverse shark species in our waters.
Enjoying your shark expeditions. Can't wait for chumming and decoy!
Apparently it's an El Nino year which is affecting the Gulf Stream. It's caused all the crap weather this Summer and could be more of a reason why you've not been too successful finding things this year rather than anything you're doing. I've heard mackerel numbers are way down here in Torbay and with that also their predators like blue & thresher sharks. Hopefully we'll have an Indian Summer and things will pick up. Cool vid as always!
That’s interesting Mark, I’ll defo give this a google and learn some more
I personally think the best chance of finding a Porker (White Pointer) is off the coast of Pembrokeshire around St Govans head around to FreshWater West which is open Atlantic with an abundance of Grey and Common Seals
Your content is so entertaining to watch I have been subbed to your channel for maybe a couple of years now. I never had any real interest in shark content but now I am obsessed 😂 it just gets better and better 👏 smashing it
Thank you Kurt! Really appreciate the kind comment 🦈😬
Maybe you could attack a chum bag to the seal decoy so as you tow it, it releases a trial of smell. Almost like it might be injured. Might attract a shark.
Keep up the good work mate, loving your channel,I'd love it if you got footage of a great white👍👍
Add a couple of flippers to that handsome seal pup and tow it away from your wake to reduce wake noise. You need several rolls of TP in that boat because you will shit yourself if a Whitey breaches ten feet behind ya LOL
I remember fishing off the west coast of Scotland (Loch Broom Ullapool) when I was a kid in my teens. We were trailing coloured feathers off the back of my Uncle's boat which had always been successful, but even the Mackerel weren't taking the bait! Then my Dad said 'let's try something different'. He stuck a bit of foil from some chewing gum wrappers onto each hook and stuck them over the side. Within minutes we were catching. We were even getting two fish (Mackerel) on one hook. It was also the day that I broke my rod... I had hooked something (no idea what!) and was reeling it in, when all of a sudden the rod bent double and after a few moments it snapped. When I eventually reeled in, the bait, trace, weights, my catch etc. had all completely gone. My Dad and Uncle reckoned that is was probably a seal, even though there was no sign of any seals in the vicinity - none of it made sense to me. Bearing in mind that it happened so fast and they hadn't really taken much notice of me struggling - I was actually sitting on the deck hanging on to the rod for dear life at one point! Anyway I'd like to think that I'd hooked a really big fish, possibly a shark - talk about the one that got away! 😲🦭🦈🎣
"You got city hands Mr Hooper, been counting money all your life"
I knew you would catch some one day 👏🤣congrats , great video as usual but shame about the weather , lookin forward to you bein alot further out in the warrior to see what turns up 🇬🇧🦈
Loving the seal decoy, I wouldn't worry about it looking any more "real" I used to use top water lures pike fishing and they'll smash it, more interested in action rather than looks.
Silhouette from below just needs to be similar I reckon.
Good luck 🦈
Thanks for the tip mate 😬🦈
I have a feeling if you keep doing what you're doing, at somepoint you will have that encounter, it makes sense for them to be here
Keeping everything crossed that you will be the one to spot a big white one day. Keep up the great work. Enjoying the videos 🦈
Gonny need a bigger engine 👍
Great content mate, keep it up.
Another fantastic video, well done no fish then catch three on the line, you will be the toast of the yacht club, seal cam works fine, looking forward to more of you're shark adventure's.
I've been waiting for this for a long time now.i would love to see you document the first great white in uk waters.good luck.
Fingers crossed!
Another great video with a good mix of content. Congratulations for popping your fishing cherry, hope the Yacht Club folk are getting you a round in to celebrate :-D That was good speed there on Charlie Buoy, proof that the Warrior hull is a good design to get on the plane and then some more. Neat idea for the fake seal to attract sharks, my wake board is a similar size, remind me not to go boarding if you are out chumming 😰😂
Cheers, Mark (Ripsaw)
Thanks Mark! Yes bud the warrior is a rocket ship
What is to stop someone with the boat size, the "time" (and moneyI guess...) to drag a dead animal like a horse or cow and stay out during summer to see if anything shows up? Would anyone deter/stop you?
It's more than certain they r in our waters. Perfect conditions and loads of seals
Love the videos 👍
So happy to see you catch fish at last ❤❤❤
Congratulations on the catch bro!
Had to happen mate 😂
Great video well done mate you we one day found that shark ❤🚒👍🇬🇧
I live in Scandinavia where people dont see Great White, but lived in New Zealand where they do see Great White. Wondered why northern Europe wouldn't have Great White if New Zealand does.
Much much warmer sea around New Zealand. It's near Australia duh
@@GamerFriscoactually the average annual sea temps between UK and NZ are very similar.
Love your videos…I reckon you’re spot on re great white sharks…I’m on the South West coast and wouldn’t be surprised if they appear here any day soon
Is there much difference in water suitability around our islands. Along the west coast of Ireland, up through the Irish Sea and along the east coast of England/Scotland and up around the Scottish Isles? In terms of food for them, water temp and sightings.
Thanks matt another great video.
Also congrats on breaking your duck.
🦈🦈🦈🦈💙💙💙
My pleasure! Thanks for watching 🙏
Unless I’m mistaken the 15hp mercury in the states weighs almost 50% heavier than 9.9hp. My backache refuses to upgrade.
On the subject of tope. Most definitely uncoil the rig. Coiled for packaging. If you tie your own rigs use 250lb mono. No need for wire and use a circle hook. 9:21 We have a vidoe on tope fishing if you search our channel 😊 also that under water camera looks wicked! Watched your other video on that with the pollock chasing it!
Thank you mate
🇬🇧🦋loving the seal decoy , it worked did not lose camera .finally caught some fish 🐟.looking forward to next sharky adventure 🦋🇬🇧
Fingers crossed!😎
Shark would pull you straight off boat without a sturdy rod holder and weight of a substantial boat (not inflatable)
Tope sharks wouldn’t 👍
@@AirbornePirates Great white would that's what's is targeted if possible in UK waters. A big gamble as to what could bite bait... Why take risk if there is very little % of great white why make the series....
Interesting adventures on the high seas. Perhaps attach a diving vein to the seal decoy!....get one of those fishing plug baits to see how this engineering will impart a whole new dynamic to the action of the decoy..then transfer the design to the seal decoy. Ask someone in a fishing tackle shop to show you a few models and how the diving vein creates that life-like action. Also while you are talking to him ask about the best way to set a chum trail. It's all about creating that long unbroken( very important) scent trail to the boat..to bring he sharks in. Or check out some chum videos.....I reckon you are someone who will enjoy fishing and the catching of them. Catching sharks will attune yourself more to their totem spirit . This month and the next the oceanic species will be migrating in to our waters. It's all about setting that chum trail across the waters....maybe head out on a charter vessel down Dorset to see the skippers methods....seas are warming... hammerheads moving in. Great Whites well I'm waiting for them to sort out that exponential growth in our grey seal population. There are so many of em they are migrating inland to the private fishing lakes devouring all the stock ruining the livelihoods.....
I’ve never heard of a diving vein bud, what is it??
has any tagged shark been found in british waters ?
Be interested to see SIB set up and deployment. Is lifting engine onto transom difficult? Do you have to use a slip or could you beach launch. Wondering if feasible using my hatchback. Another great video. Big fan of your channel.
There’s plenty of videos on here about the sib setting it up, feasible in a hatchback if you lower seats for outboard buddy
Next time mate, with the seal float, attach a piece of bait 9:16 ,or a slow release chum bag. This may indicate a fish or seal in distress. This will certainly attract any potential shark.
Good idea, one to try further off shore
Awesome ! Love your content ! Tune in every time your on dude ! It will not be long before we see great whites here
Wouldn't the smell of chemicals from the spray paint be a deterrent? I thought they've got insane senses of smell...or have i got that totally wrong?
Keep Sharking dude
What make & model drone do u fly?
Thank you
Dji mini 3 pro 🤘
If throwing back mackerel, use a glove they dont survive after contact with human skin
I've got a 15hp and a 20hp on tiller I've had on the 420 boatworld there's not alot between them to be honest welcome to borrow it and see what you think 😀
Just seen you’re a local! That would be epic 🙌
@@AirbornePirates no worries they're sat in my garage just behind Liverpool arms pub welcome anytime to have a go
Luv your enthusiasm!
Have you ever tried cage diving with Great White?
Like my science teacher use to constantly state.. "still waiting!"
I have indeed Neptune islands south Australia 👍
@@AirbornePirates That's some experience and memory!
Did you get the local water temperature? Glad you didn’t have a “I’m gonna need a bigger boat” moment on that dingy tbh.
17.6 degrees Celsius buddy
Thought I’ll let you know not a lot of people knows this but once you catch a mackerel and touch it with your palm and release it, it will die of a slow death because the skin is damaged best of just keeping it or hold the hook not the fish and try pulling it out with the weight of the fish if that makes sense
Lol imagine great white in Scarborough 😂lmao...had walrus....turn up...like...there...
A Great White was caught in Luce Bay in the early 1900's.
I’ve not heard about this one?
Living the dream Matt . I'm surprised you are the only one doing this .
Are you not worried about being in an inflatable though in case you do come across one lol
It certainly wasn’t ideal! 🥴
@@AirbornePirates 😂😂
@@AirbornePiratesdid you ever find out what caused that shadow in the woods pal ?
The day will come confirming great whites it be when you least expect it I bet just amazed at all your tech I hope it will you too confirm it you so deserve too be with all your hard work searching and research😀
Could of been a dogman 😮the shadow in the woods😮
You're gonna need a bigger boat.
Can't wait till you become the 1st guy to prove these great whites are here , u deserve it with these class videos 🦈
Are British waters ideal for a great white ?
I’ve done a series on it. In my opinion they are optimal. Rare fish in general but I believe they’re here now and then
@@AirbornePirates appreciate the reply.
I am kind of excited and frightened of the thought of one day our waters playing continuous host to great whites.
We had dolphins in west Sussex recently
@@AirbornePirates also we recently had a northern bottle nose on our beach. Unfortunately nothing was really done to keep it alive.
Beautiful too
wouldnt it make sense to have the decoy with an electrical signal in it? ---- sharks strike at decoy because they hunting = the fact we have no photo of white shark breaching in UK waters would point to they dont breach = so use electric signal and make them investigate.
Electrical signals are currently used to deter sharks. A large thresher shark was photographed breaching last week, any shark action would be good to film 👍 thanks for stopping by
@@AirbornePirates ""Fishermen for years have told tales about huge sharks trying to eat their motorboat engines, and now videos are proving this does indeed happen. Shark experts believe that great whites, like the one seen in the below video shot just a few days ago, are attracted to electrical pulses emitted by some boat motors "" You looking for white sharks, not threshers
My guy that sib isn’t much bigger then the seal. I would scare myself shitless with stupid thoughts 💀😂
My bigger boat is a bit more capable 😬
@@AirbornePirates I did notice that! 💪
Pretty certain it’s not GW but there’s is a shark on my channel that I saw while out fishing in South wales one day.
Also, I used to have boats like yours before getting the skis, since the U.K. weather isn’t the best you’ll find a ski so much easier to use than a boat! I know they’re not as big but you can go out in any conditions and still feel safe.
Get the biggest engine you can and you won't have to use full power to go the same speed as a smaller engine
You need a bigger boat lol
Too be honest UK got largest seal population in Europe....makes sense if greatwhites...turn up ....🤔😮🙈HOLY MACKEREL BATMAN !!!!😂
all that time for no sharks lol
🫶
them
I honestly believe they are not in your waters…. YET..
(But I’m in Victoria Australia… near Phillip island and the seal breeding grounds)..
I guess that’s my point though?.. is there any major seal colonies near you?… (sure seal decoys work in South Africa and Australia… but we only use them when they’re relevant?..
For big sharks you need big food chain….
(Maybe global warming … if it’s real… will drive seals closer and then sharks will come?..
thanks for the time at sea !!… it’s kinda exciting for us Aussies to see someone in such a small craft messing with Great Whites…. But I know you’re not trying to catch them so hopefully the GW you do one day encounter ?… isn’t too big or angry…
We have the largest seal colony in Europe about 120 nautical miles north. So not far. Med white sharks eat fish, Atlantic white sharks eat seals so it’s exciting either way :)
We have more seals in the uk than you could shake a stick at
@@davidwallace6031 well then something should be eating them?….
@@Inklenation them
If they can thermoregulate their bodies then why not.
Wouldn’t like to be in that boat if a white took that fake seal….
Hallelujah 👏🏻🐟🐠🎉😜
Oh yeah!
You’re gaunna need a bigger boat
You’re gonna need bigger boat
