You boys are nasty welders, but “passing the arc” is a little different. It’s done with one machine with a splitter going to 2 stingers. You would not be able to accomplish this technique properly with low hydrogen rods on this olet because the welder picking up the arc would be forced to run downhill. This is done on 2g,5g, and 6g. It’s utilized because you won’t have a restart in the tangent (snipe) while welding boiler tubes that are close together, or any other code weld where restarts contaminated with porosity are a concern. The welder who begins the weld then passes the arc to the other welder, chips his slag, then picks the arc back up, and welds back over his initial start. We call it buddy welding, or hot pick ups. If you want a demonstration, the boys down at HBBW would be happy to make you a video. Keep up the good work. Don’t take this the wrong way cuz your videos are great and you guys can sure weld.

Did you know not all machines weld the same with the same dial setting and there is leeway with in the parameters . If they are way out by all means a spanking is needed
