In this first video on the rear suspension and brakes service series
I replace the rear shock absorbers on our Mercedes 300SD.
Very nice explanation! Greets from Germany
Oh the headrests are the tip of the iceberg with w126 modifications and upgrades! Center console storage boxes, sec coupe headrests and seats, orthopedic lumbar and heated seats, power sunshade, European lights and bumpers, torque damping rear trailing arms, multicolored interiors and gen 2 interior panels. These cars are fun to mess with but keeping it all factory Mercedes
Definitely installing Euro head lights!
Thanks for documenting cheers!
Thanks! Good video.
Thank you! Me and my daddyy put these on our Mereck just today! So helpflul!
Outstanding. Good to here!
@@ImpalamansGarage How many kilometers does a car with a W 126 Mercedes Benz 3000cc diesel engine work on 1 liter of diesel?
Gracias help me a lot didn’t not have to take the back seat of my 83
Thx bro! Straighforward, good tempo, from Belgium Europe🇧🇪bob
Love it!!
That's the easiest shock replacement i've ever seen before!
Yeah disconnecting the top bolts from inside the car is way easier than staring straight up waiting for dirt to fly down into your eyeball!

🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏👏
Well, that was fun and I didn't have to lift a finger.
My 01 e320 has headrests that are on a switch. When you hit that switch they snap back like a guillotine. Hope kitty is not stretched out on that ledge when you do it. Lol. What next? I forgot what else you were going to do.
I almost forgot. I was going to ask you how that 6 cylinder diesel runs out. Is it faster and smoother than the 5 cylinder? Do they get good mileage? At 80 mph my 85 300D got pretty loud.
This car (1984) has the 5 cylinder diesel like yours. OM617. The 6 cylinder came out in 86.
Have to wait on parts to arrive. Rear brakes next followed by rear sway bar, differential and axle shaft boots.
@@ImpalamansGarage Oh, my bad. For some reason I thought it was an SDL which is the 6 cylinder. I really like diesels and wish mine was one.
I bought an 83 Peugeot turbodiesel in 1990 and had it till 2001 whwn I bought the Mercedes. I loved that Peugeot except the engine was way to small for the car. I drove it way to hard through the mountains a few times and blew the head gasket and cracked the head. I fixed that but finally sold it and got the Merc.
I'll be waiting for your next video.
Like a guillotine lol, I once hit that button on my W202 and it scared the hell outta me lol
@@florenciomendez5529 These rear head rests are not powered unfortunately.
Hello Impalaman 👍
Wat shocks do you recommend? The standard replacement? Or the heavy duty?
Kind regards Helmer
By the way. It's for my Mercedes-Benz w126 300sd 1981 👍
I'm running Sachs shocks on all four corners. I think they ride just fine.
@@ImpalamansGarage thank you 😃
@@ImpalamansGarage Do you have a reference link? I need to buy all 4 shocks and possibly springs. You might make a pretty penny off us suckers following in your footsteps
What model did that backseat with the headrests come from?
I can't recall but don't think it was an SD. Little fancier with the head rests. Found it over on the FB W126 page.
Where did you order your shocks from? Thanks for the videos.

@@ImpalamansGarage thanks. Your videos have helped me with my 82 300sd I just got
@@ImpalamansGarage Is Sachs better than Bilstein?
@@LiviuRo1 I don't know. I only know that the quality appears to be excellent and the ride is great.
