Yeah I totally said Maggie instead of Zoe and I have no idea why. Who's Maggie? Did I play a different game with a Maggie recently? Is there a Maggie somewhere in these games? Is it because I was thinking about "Who Shot Mr. Burns" that day? Who knows.
Lol
The only other Maggie I can think of is from the Walking Dead
Maybe you conflated the names Zoe and Margaret (RE7). Oh well!
seriously, someone could say that capcom is on a roll since RE 7...
LMAO it happens, it happens. Love the content, but I thought that was a goofy error
*Review contains content that may not be suitable for children*
“Hello my spooky dooky friends!”
LOL
Arlo is wonderful in that way
He really is
gotta love it
Lmfao I love Arlo
Arlo: "I chose Maggie!"
Zoe: "...glad to see I left a memorable impression😑"
Let's be real, she wasn't memorable.
It's fine. Apparently she be-lONGs here.
No, Arlo found a secret third character that was exclusive to his copy of the game!
"everything is so realistic! the trash-..."
good example Arlo, 10/10
"Every enemy drops something," he says while showing the only enemy in the game that doesn't drop something.
I forget sometimes that Arlo occasionally reviews stuff that's not Nintendo.
Tbh I was pretty confused. Not that I mind lol.
I’m glad he did, it’s a great change of pace.
Good, it's exactly what makes ARLO one of the few Nintendo focused channels that doesn't fanboy over Nintendo 24/7 (except Zelda)
@@jesusbarrera6916 honestly I don’t even think he fanboys too hard over Zelda. He was really outspoken over the art style in links awakening and got mad at people saying they were entitled, he has talked about skyward sword hd and has definitely not fanboyed over that, and he had several criticisms of botw.
Me too, I was like "Wait, that's on Switch???".
I freaking enjoyed a lot this game, and I'm surprised how much Arlo loved it aswell, and I'm glad is touching a different franchise outside of Nintendo, I hope he can bring more diversity with his content
He’s done Resident Evil 7 long ago. It’s kind of nice to see some variation
Are there any spoilers?
He should make that clear. Especially in a 20+ minute review. How much can you say before you start spoiling.
I'm not watching this.
I would like some non-Nintendo games reviewed but not to the point it overshadows Nintendo stuff like other channels. Please only review great, great games like this one.
You and me both
@@InnerRise Buddy, it's almost impossible to find spoiler free reviews. Even "Spoiler free" reviews have spoilers.
you know it's actually BECAUSE of the internet that dimitrescu actually became a little scarier to me. people set her up as this whole sexy villain who was gonna catch you but oh man, she just straight up tries to slice you in half, she becomes really imposing and sometimes kinda scary. speaking of scary, house beneviento... oh man that's some incredible horror
I hope Arlo branches from JUST talking about Nintendo more often. That would be pretty neat.
He cant other wise his channel might fall into obscurity
@@ZComma that’s not true mate, doing variety content can help a channel grow a lot, look at channels that only do one type of content for years and years with no change what so ever, they fall into obscurity more so then channels that do variety content. It’s good to branch out since it can appeal to more audiences
He reviews what he's passionate about and that's fine. I'm just here for the Arlo content
He's tweeted about the perception of being a UA-camr who "only" plays Nintendo. He's not that, but it's something he's addressed if you ever want to go back and look for what he's said about it.
i second this
"You save Mia instead of Maggie"
...Do you mean Zoe?
And the game ends if you pick Zoe, so there is no way he didn’t pick Mia to finish the game
@@pmc926 It does not end, you just don't get Mia in the helicopter. The rest of the game plays out the same.
@@Purpletrident oh right, my mistake
You gotta save Maggie from the Simpsons.
@@Purpletrident Wait...Does Zoe fight her way through the ship to save Ethan? Or do you just keep playing as Ethan? I'm so confused.
I love when Arlo opens up more about his diverse taste in games other than just Nintendo. RE Village was one of my highlights this year so far!
After your hand is cut off by Lady Dimitrescu while pulling a lever, for the rest of the game I had lever PTSD.
same!! I love how he just re-attaches it like it was nothing lmao
Especially when you reach the lever immediately after defeating Lady D
He doesnt even questions how bizarre that he's able to reattach his hand with no issue with first aid medicine
@@spritemon98 That already happened in Resident Evil 7. He shouldn't be anymore surprised than that.
@@kungolaf4499 I've never played 7
Yep, that "emotionally invested scary moment" that had tension built up that Arlo's talking about. Yep, that got me too.
I’m just commenting to help with the algorithm, since I suspect this wouldn’t do as well as Nintendo stuff from Arlo. Great video, hope you’re able to do more of this!
Ohh, good point. And we who subscribed to Arlo for his horror game reviews have been a starved bunch.
It’s interesting seeing Arlo review something that isn’t Nintendo. He should do it more often as long as he is passionate about the game
Wasn’t expecting you to review this so it was a pleasant surprise. I know you mentioned enjoying revelations but it’s cool to see you like series as much as you do.
"...you get the satisfaction of getting what they drop."
Shows one of the few enemies that doesn't drop anything upon death.
A.K.A. The Marvelous Misadventures of Ethan Winters’ Hands
Playing as Chris made me feel like I was playing CoD and it felt amazing to mow down all these enemies that had been terrifying me the whole game.
Just like RE6 🤣
worst part of the game
@shadonic565 If you guys want to play Call of Duty why don't you play Call of Duty instead of trying to turn Resident Evil into it
@shadonic565 People are allowed to not like something you like. Disagreement isn't an attack.
@shadonic565 The original comment whose thread you're posting in compared it to Call of Duty. Do you know where you are? We were having a nice conversation here until you blundered in
I’m surprised Arlo could support a game with so much monster killing on account of his own monster heritage
Monster hunter rise lmao
Thank you for correctly referring to him as a monster and not a muppet
I think we all know the scare Arlo was emotionally invested in was the fetus monster sequence
Oh yeah, fetus monster definitely came to mind when he said that
He'd probably be more invested if the fetus was blue
@@Miles_Edwards either that or the wolf thing before moreau
DADA YUMMY
Hey man I’ve noticed the pretty constant video uploads and I know it’s hard work on you but please know we are extremely thankful for it. I get so excited when I get an Arlo video upload notification.
I love that Arlo can bounce between pokemon and resident evil so seemlessly
"East of Ethan" is an _incredible_ title.
I haven’t played any RE games, what is the joke?
@@jakedematteo2172 have you read a book tho? East of Eden by John Steinbeck is the joke.
@@darunia5632 yes, although I don’t like many of john Steinbeck’s Book. I read of mice and men, but that’s the only Steinbeck book I have read.
@@darunia5632 there's no need to ask if they've "read a book," not everyone has heard of every book. East of Eden is one of my favorite books ever though
@@darunia5632 Okay, but what's the JOKE? How is RE8 related to East of Eden? Aside from Ethan's name kind of rhyming with Eden?
I'm so glad you talked about how the game is scary. I screamed like a little girl in the doll house. I'll also say that I'm glad to report the ps5 version was absolutely beautiful!
This game made me feel like I was playing RE4 in first person mode
That's what they going for, as well a mixture of resident evil 7
Funny since we're getting an actual First Person RE4... sort of. The VR game
@@EdgyZiggy and maybe a remake of 4 as well
@@vidsurfer5630 Man I hope so, but I want it to be more than just a remake.
I’ve played through RE4 so many times that a makeover alone wouldn’t hit that spot for me, i’d need some new content in terms of explorable areas, which sadly probably would not happen.
@@rockdaivdson5054 age fucking well.
Always nice to see a non Nintendo review from arlo from time to time, it’s some good variety :D
Didn't expect a Steinbeck reference today, but here we are!
Arlo, I have seen every single one of your videos from start to finish so I feel like I can speak for your true fans. Please please please please don't be afraid to make videos like this (non switch and unscripted) because we love your personality and we love hearing your general thoughts on pretty much anything but especially games. This video is awesome! The length is great, the vibe is great and you were great! Keep up the good work!
Love all the reviews you've been doing lately! I also appreciate the non-nintendo stuff every once in a while!
Didnt expect this, but I’m delighted.
12:00 people who've played the game know the EXACT moment he's talking about, lmao
yummy
The baby?
Most horror cliches: "Oh god get me off of this elevator!!!"
RE8: "OH GOD LET ME ONTO THIS ELEVATOR PLEAAAASSEEEE"
Fun review Arlo, I highly enjoyed watching this. I also loved RE8, it’s a masterpiece to me as well.
When I first saw the visuals for the game, I felt this HUGE weight on me, and I wasn’t even playing the game at that point. It already felt foreboding and tense, yet I was only looking at an image or a video.
That’s the power of modern visuals for you!
arlo covering resident evil ... didnt know i needed this Yeah
Finally, the 8age review I've been waiting for
VIII_AGE
Yeah I feel like all the other reviews are extremely toxic and petty sometimes.
I was missing your non Nintendo content.
I think the reason they make the gun mods separate is that it just feels so good to attach it from you inventory
I wasn’t expecting a review on this lol super excited for it
Gosh it sure is weird how INCLUDING extra content in a game will encourage players to keep playing and make them more willing to buy DLC later. It's almost like if you ship a FINISHED PRODUCT people will enjoy it.
I would KILL for live footage of Arlo’s first time meeting “The Baby”. XD
Absolutely!!
felt so bad for Ethan while playing this game, he's really having a bad day here lmaooo
He's also a very stupid main character
He's just stupid. If some special forces literally come and shoot your wife (remember he doesn't know that's not his actual wife) and steal your baby... I'm sorry but you just run away and say "fuck it". Nobody would risk their lives on a town full of monsters and into a castle over a baby. Specially since Ethan is more like a regular male. He's not a marine or anything. The whole plot is so stupid, it hurts.
Any normal person would have just ran away after the truck accident. And run away towards a highway, not towards a creepy village.
@@soullessSiIence he didn't even steal the guys gloves or anything else from his corpse from the car accident
@@soullessSiIence guess you don't have children yet 😑
@@spritemon98 better than Chris
I was so interested that you did a review of a non-Nintendo game that this was an instant click. Watching now
Super cool seeing ya branch out with content Arlo! The skits have all been really fun and I'm glad you're able to start covering games you like in general instead of being limited to just the Nintendo ones
Your brand is so family-friendly. It's a lot of fun to see you get excited about a horror game! The contrast in my brain is wild
Wow! I’m happy you made this but I didn’t expect you to
Arlo you really really need to do more of these videos, one of my favorite videos was you reviewing Doom 2016, just seeing Doom guy cave in a guys skull while a blue Sesame Street esk monster talks and gives his thoughts about it is just soo amusing
I’m sure we can all agree that CAPCOM is absolutely killing it this year
Now hopefully the localize Investigations 2
Absolutely. Monster Hunter Rise and this have been a ton of fun, and there is still Monster Hunter Stories 2, and the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles collection coming out. 2021 is definitely shaping up to be their best year so far imo.
Bruh they really do be lol. Especially excited for the ace attorney chroniclesssss
I subscribed to you for your Nintendo content, but when you do unexpected stuff like this it's always a treat.
Damn, you're pumping these out. Keep it up!
this game is probably one of the highlights of the resident evil series. i think RE 1,2,4 and now 8 are probably the most well known and popular
I've been watching a lot of different people playing this. I can't wait to hear what arlo has to say about it.
Was hoping you would review this game!!! I loved your review of 7, because we had super similar takes and thoughts on it! And it's the same with Village!!! I'm not someone who replays games often, but everytime I beat a Resident Evil, I start a new game immediately! Already gone through this one 3 times so far!! Adore the game! With this and Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom are really treating us with an excellent 2021!!! Thanks for the review Arlo!!
I don't play the RE games and have never even looked at them before but this one was really interesting. Nice review, I enjoy the non-scripted ones too
Love when you do stuff that isn't Nintendo. Just love hearing you talk about any video game.
The game's design thesis was to make it feel like a theme park, so I think the pacing and variety feeling that way was successful, then.
And yeah, game not super scary...except for when IT ABSOLUTELY IS.
I would absolutely love to play through this game even tho I’m not big on horror, but I would Not be able to make it through the baby section
I love how casual this review is. Best review so far.
I’m irritated that I didn’t come up with that East of Ethan world play. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Totally appreciate this review! I love when he covers RE games!
Honestly, I love it when you review non Nintendo games. It was YOUR review of Doom (2016) that made me go out and get it! (And I absolutely loved that game so thanks!) Your reviews are always well thought out and it's clear that you put your heart into every one- keep up the amazing work!
Arlo, I love your Nintendo stuff. But I also love seeing you branch out into other stuff as well. Keep it up mate!
Thanks for this review. I loved this game and have been eagerly awaiting your review.
The _music_ in this game is amazing. Near the beginning when you're in the basement prison thing and the ring wraith looking guys are stalking you, the music used then is a perfect example of how good the music is because that alone gave me a lot of tension. Love it.
You're right Arlo, I was watching this to see if you liked the game and I'm glad that you do.
Great video! I'm excited to try this one out. My favorites have always been 1,2, and 3 so I've been slow to try any of the new ones.
Love seeing so many reviews lately!
I haven't really ever been into the resident evil games but you make it sound quite fun. If I ever have time I'll have to play them all in a row. I'll bet it'd be sick
It’s always nice to see Arlo so passionate about a game
Arlo,I don't know what's happening but keep it up 😂
Good to see there's more to the game than "big vampire lady"
It’s so cool to see you cover a mature game! Can’t wait to ser what else you might have in store :)
You’re just as Left Field as Nintendo Arlo! Definitely didn’t expect a review of this.
Great review! Truly loved RE8 as well.
I came into this expecting to be excited, terrified, and exhilarated.
I ended the game with crying.
I felt sad but didnt cry
I don't always like Arlo reviewing non Nintendo games, but when I do, I love Arlo reviewing great Resident Evil games.
This non-Nintendo review is a lovely change of pace. Also, the fat guy at the end looks like a living version of that one boss ghost in Luigi's Mansion.
I loved Village so much! I'm not usually a big fan of the style of horror in RE7, but Village had just the perfect balance of horror and action to keep me invested. And, I gotta say, I really liked Ethan as a character. Again, I didn't play 7 so I didn't know what to expect from him. I watched SnapCube's Let's Play of 7 while waiting for Village and I liked it, but when I actually played Village, I was blown away by how much I was sucked into the world and characters, and gameplay. I played on Standard, and I found it perfect, for me. I don't like being overwhelmed in a game, and maybe I'll play on a harder difficulty in the future, but I wanna try and 100% the game on Standard before I move up to the harder settings. (I missed a lot of stuff iny first playthrough)
Wow. Never thought I'd have A PS5 before a respected UA-cam gamer. Great review
Arlo dipping his toes in the evil water... love it
Grover from sesame street reviews a video game about slaughtering mutants
So happy you reviewed this game
Those who have played the game, or watched the vids online, know which part Arlo is talking about that was the scariest part in the game... House Beneviento and the creature inside
yup Angie
Mister Metokur brought me to you. His prestige smokers laugh did not fail me to find your content.
Great review Arlo! Also would love to see you do a review on Bloodborne sometime in the future, I know it's an older game but since you like horror and you've liked the combat of Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, I think you would really like Bloodborne, and the world in Bloodborne is so detailed and crafted so well and discovering and piecing everything together with what happens in the game, I think it's really up your alley!
I'd like to see arlo branch out to talking about other stuff, while keeping Nintendo the focus of the channel
I honestly wish Nintendo was only the focus when they have new worthy games. I love Nintendo don't get me wrong but I miss Arlo having a wider range than a single developer who hasn't released tons of new games recently.
I have never in my life been interested in speedrunning but this game has inspired me. I absolutely love it. I’m by my 5th play through on Village of shadows and on NG+ with infinite ammo just blasting and running and skipping everything is just so damn fun to do in this game. Personal 10/10 for me.
Hoenstly, as an RE vet I just felt two ways about 8. I loved 4 and loved the call backs to 4 in 8. However, it just wasn’t scary enough and there weren’t enough puzzles. The mystery was great! Just wish it was scarier and had more puzzles.
Same. I still love RE8, I had a fantastic time, but Beneviento’s part shows how scary it could have been, and I wish that they did a better job of combining the action with the horror in a more horror-favoring way. On the other hand, though, I did enjoy the combat and the game overall very much, so I’m not too mad or anything. Still quite happy with the final product.
That attache case is a huge hint how RE4 Remake is gonna play out. The same way 7 did with 2 and 3.
I have not purchased a physical game for my Xbox One in years, this was my one exception and I have ZERO regrets!
I’m here to support Arlo, plus listening to him while I crochet is quite soothing. However even at the ripe age of 30+ I cannot look at the screen when these games are being played. Too scary 😆
I loved this game!! So much fun! The Ray Tracing on the PS5 made it look so real!
bro I only missed that one damn fish too. where the hell was he
Everyone either sells a fish by mistake or can't find one. Happened to Mark and Jack too.
Same thing happened to me. One bloody fish away from all recipes complete. Read online afterwards that there's one pond that gets destroyed after a certain boss fight and so you can't go back to it. Really annoying!
Yeah I'd wager it's the fish the right you meet Chris before taking on Moreau, and that area is inaccessible after the cutscene
Finest fish or regular fish? There's a boat in the village you have access to when you get the crank to lower a drawbridge. It's on the path from the altar to the place you set the giant's chalice. If you go south in the boat you'll come across a pond with the finest fish. It's just regular fish in the missable pond.
@@specht2006 it was a regular fish. probably the one before Moreau everyone's talking about
Im on my 5th run and Village of shadows is in some ways what the main game needed. More enemies catching you off guard and jst intense dread. It feels like a completely different game which is jst a special experience. :)
Great review. 👍🏻 In regard to comparing the scare factor between RE7 & RE8, I think you make a good point. I do agree with most fans who think RE7 is still scarier, but I gotta say that freaking doll house part was pretty damn spooky. 😱
I only clicked on this video to hear Arlo say "Mommy Milkers". Though I didn't actually think he would, I am nonetheless disappoint.
Great review. Was particularly happy to hear that this preforms well on PS4. This is the first review I've seen that wasn't PS5. There's just no way I can drop $500 on a console any time soon. But this is obviously still worth playing, so that's nice 🙂 Lots of visual/setting spoilers in here though!! Had to stop looking and just listen, which is fine.
Didn't expect this review but also YES
Hey Arlo? Your comment about the health bar regenerating on its own got me thinking. I won't say anything that'll spoil the ending for others, but that thing you learn at the very end is probably the cause for that unusual method of healing and why first aids just speeds things up. You might counter that with RE7 but there, the situation was settling during that period.
Last acting role of Jeanette Maus who sadly passed away after an eight-month battle with colon cancer, a few months before the release of the game
Lady Alcina Dimitrescu's face is based on a Polish actress named Helena Mankowska.
Julian, Luiza's nervous son, is voiced by the same actor as Lucas in Resident Evil 7.
Lady Dimitrescu stands at a whopping 9'6" (2.90 meters) tall.
While fans speculated that this episode would have the series take a more supernatural turn, it is actually explained that the vampire women and the werewolves are victims of a virus just as the other enemies in the series were before.
Director Morimasa Sato was inspired by the "Gothic horror" genre. For example, the Lycans were inspired by the Werewolflore, while the Dimitrescus were inspired by vampires.
